Changing the bars is a great way to refresh the feel of bike. A number of years ago I swapped the original flat bars on my Surly Krampus for Jones loop bars. Made the bike much more comfortable and relaxing to ride. Another great video 👍

Absolutely agree with you about handlebar swops. Change the bars, change the bike. I guess now that you have Susie for touring, you might as well have an urban bomber. It’s a nice spectrum of different bikes now, all from Rivendell. Here in the North West coast of England, it would be daft to ride anything without mudguards, although everyone does!😂. I’m moving soon, and then I might take a few off.

WOW. Just love the WTB grips, did not know they still exist! I used to have them on ALL of my bikes back in the day. Must look for them!. Sweet setup BTW, I ride a Danish-made BenBen with Moth bars and just love it; will not swap I think as they are the coolest bars I've ever ridden. With or without bags and stuff.

Great video and totally agree that new bars can transform a bike. It's funny how much it changes your body position on the bike and how the whole thing feels. Also good idea to change the stem when you change bars. I can't recall any company that provides information on the distance between the clamping area and your hand position but it can vary quite a lot and it's a good idea to take that into account and at least eyeball it.
@probablyriding5 күн бұрын
Definitely need the right stem to accommodate the reach of different bars.

I'm a firm believer that if an upgrade/swap of new parts will make us ride more, then that's all the justification we need. Bars, bar tape, tires, fork, whatever. All for better mental and physical health. We all ride a lot but sometimes we need a little extra motivation! Btw, crazy that you saw that same Atlantis in Tokyo twice!

I ❤the new look! I tried to buy those but they sold out quickly. You have the only video where I have been able to admire them. They remind me of the mothbars or rons ortho bar but Im sure they are different. I think you need to get some golden pliers and sim works ramble bar. Ive seen those on a riv and they are cool, kinda wide so a shorter stem is needed.
@probablyriding5 күн бұрын

I'd be interested to know how the Jams compare with the KT bars you also have. They look great but I'm perturbed by any bars with 'upsweep' and how they might feel in terms of wrist comfort.
@probablyriding4 күн бұрын
Both have a bit of upsweep. Hard to tell completely because they are on two different bike. Same width. KT has more back sweep, so a little more chilled. Jam feel more mountain bikey.
