COSRX Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence Review

I love that COSRX is now available at Ulta. Ulta Beauty has recently started selling a nice, but small, variety of Korean skincare beauty lines. I've tried many of COSRX products now and for me they have been hit or miss. The COSRX Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence has been hyped as being a dupe for many more expensive high end K-Beauty products, such has the SK-II Essence.
The Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence has a light watery texture that is easily applied to dry skin making it feel a little more hydrated. You will want to follow with moisturizer or a serum because this has kind of a sticky feel once it has dried. I didn't notice any benefits (such as a reduction in hyperpigmentation or wrinkles) after using this long-term, but I also didn't have any negative reactions. After reading many other reviews several people have reported an increase in acne using this. I find this interesting since the second ingredient is Niacinamide, which can be used to help reduce acne and breakouts.
Overall, this is just an okay product. I couldn't find a significant amount of research proving that galactomyces can help reduce wrinkles or boost hydration, but I also couldn't find a lot of researching showing that it can cause negative reactions. There are definitely better toners out there that contain proven ingredients such as antioxidants, AHA's, and emollients. If you are a huge SK-II fan using this in place of their essence will probably help save you some money.
COSRX actually makes a couple other toners that I would recommend over this one: BHA Blackhead Power Liquid and their AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid. These can especially be beneficial if you currently do not use a leave on exfoliant in your current skincare routine.

I use the COSRX Galactomyces Whitening Power Essence - not sure how the formula differs from the toning essence, but it seems to have the same active ingredients and hydrating agents that you mentioned. I bought it for pretty much the same draws you discussed; I'm interested in the concept of fermented skincare, but am not willing to shell out hundreds for a single product, especially with no clinical research to back up the claims. The COSRX essence has a lot of proven effective ingredients to make it a really well-rounded product, not a one-note novelty, and the price is great! I also love their 4% BHA Blackhead Power Essence. It has the highest BHA concentration I've ever seen in a daily-use product, but is less irritating to the skin than any other BHA formulas I've tried. I had stubborn blackheads for years, despite a pretty thorough anti-acne routine, but this product has diminished them significantly, and reduced my overall breakouts. I highly recommend it to anyone with occasional or regular breakouts/blackheads!

I love their 4% BHA Essence- I use it at least a couple days a week (unless I am trying something else). I love that it contains a lot of active ingredients but is actually affordable. I can't wait to see what else Cosrx comes out with in the future, they seem to make effective, affordable products.

Yes! I do but I do vitamin C first before anything else I also use alpha arbutin and niacinimide and a few others

This one is pretty gentle so I think you could definitely use it- you can pat it onto your skin at night or in the morning, and it should add some hydrating and moisture!

I think it does. I find that I does a great jo deeb helping skin stay moisturized. It also helps skin absorb other products better.

No do, nt use if u use chemical exfoliation you use next day this essence

You certainly can. I would apply the essence, give it a minute or two to absorb, then apply the vitamin c serum. If it is daytime be sure to use a sunscreen after the vitamin c.
