Cossack is my absolute favorite t8 in ranked. It’s just so good in every aspect, doesn’t get a ton of torps but they still get the job done and launching them single at a bb that’s silly enough to charge your smoke is like *makes Italian delicious food hand to mouth motion* . The short smokes get you out of trouble and farm a bit of damage but don’t tempt you to hang around too long, you’re like a sniper, shoot shoot, relocate, repeat.

My favorite T8 ranked ship. Almost 61% WR in 225 games. I play occasionally ranked, mainly in bronze and rarely in silver in order to collect the doubloons. To be mentioned that I didn't spent any cent till now and nor in future, in this game .

I have had monster ranked seasons in the Cossack, but with the addition of CVs in ranked, I have found the Kidd to be a lot more consistent (and having heal is nice too).

Cossack got played quite a bit in Hurricane level CBs this last tier 8 season during the early and mid parts of the season. The meta ended up settling on 2 french dds and 4 cruisers by the end though and most teams did not run a Cossack and instead favored cruiser pushes with Bayard, Cataluna, and Tallinn.

Cossack was my first premium ship. I remember I got it from random box spawn, since then I am main DD player. I must say, the only problem I see with this ship: it's not a fastest DD in game. Rest S tier.

Very very strong in ranked. Think I’m over 60% wr and 2k pr with it. Also great knife fighting DD/ cap contester. I would argue best at its tier.

Using Cossack with a Dunkirk as Captain, the boost/hydro upgrade and flags is really fun. Could get nearly a 4-minute hydro that way.

My first game in it I racked up over 1.5 million potential damage. Safe to say Cossack is a really good ship Also, as someone who plays competitive modes, it is a beast in ranked but nowhere to be found in clan battles. Clan battles are dominated by Le Terrible and Le Fantasque- they’re fast so they get an early cap and can reposition well, have great dpm, and can absolutely harass a flank to incredible success.

The Cossack is awesome against the hated subs. You out spot most if not all of them. They see you and if you don't fire, they tend to submerge. Your hydro then can be used to sink them. Its a great trick.

i dont think the smoke timer is a bug. you can press the alt key and it should tell you what the duration on the whole smoke is.

One of my favourite dds... it used to be much better and has been powercrept a bit but it's such a good ship, wish it had a heal or more health though (But I suppose it is tier VIII...) it means you get punished heavily for mistakes (as PQ says it's better the better you are). The tribal's were ferocious destroyers in real life too..

The ONLY ship I play in T8 ranked. It’s such a nuts and fun ship. Got my only ranked Solo Warrior in this ship, can’t imagine getting that in any other ship. Baiting BBs into those single launch torps and then breaking contact with a smoke never gets old. The speed boost is a big advantage over lightning in ranked. Almost exactly my build but I swap fearless brawler for RPF because having constant basic radar is just so powerful in ranked, guarantees the first big salvo which sets up the dd duel, and helps let your team know where to pre aim. And LOL PQ, “when uptiered you are not going to have much battle impact other than spotting and capping.” Is there much else you have to do??

I'm a fairly casual player and spent the first couple of years going down the US CA/CL/BB lines but ended up with Hill, Kamikaze, Stord '43, Leningrad, and then a Kidd out of containers and nabbed the Cossack on impulse. I really should learn how to play DDs now. 😃

Played well, Cossack is an absolute monster. Lightning is a decent DD but can look a bit weedy compared, but that's more because Cossack is so powerful, rather than Lightning being mediocre.

Let’s be honest, if La Pampa had say even just 12km torps, it would go from a scary ship to so OP. It’s a challenging ship for players not comfortable with say Shima 8km Torp play, and doesnt have the speed Shima has, so (and its rare I praise them) I think its a pretty decent ship. Shima also has the massive advantage over La Pampa in that it has 3 different types of torps, so you just dont know what you are facing at first.

It’s very good to learn how you should play gun DDs. Even if you play American with longer smokes, you still want to try and play those like you should play the Cossack, ie don’t sit in smokes for 2 minutes at a time and expect great results and your teammates to not get pissed at you

It’s pretty good as a learner boat. Smokes are for 20 seconds of farming or simply to break vision while you bugger off. Don’t ever sit in smokes, even with hydro it’s a pretty bad habit to get into.

No, not OP at all. There is not a DD I worry about in the Cossack. I’ve even gunned down an 3/4 Edinburgh by throttle duking while running directly away so his AP did bugger all and setting him on fire constantly with the rear two turrets.
