Na wa o! Sometime ago someone told me the prices of wood I was stating were much cheaper than in Benin. Meanwhile Benin is very close to that thick forest that I see them bringing huge logs of wood from on the way to Lagos. The differences in price are just too much. The unions should take it easy abeg.

I studied Electronic Engineering. I wanted to study Civil Engineering though because it came naturally to me but that never happened. 😒But everything I said in this video is mostly from experience. Just like most olden days contractors learnt by experience, anybody can learn the basics by spending enough time on building sites. I started reading and interpreting building plans when I was in secondary school and started spending time on building sites a long time ago.

Rain and harmattan are wood's greatest enemies. Harmattan seems to be gone in Anambra for now, pray it does not come back. Rain is still far off so you are still in luck in that department. You need to roof it immediately in case harmattan comes back. The mistake has been made but it's best to put the roofing sheets as soon as you install the woodwork. Watch my how to save money building a house video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJKWYX2rmK6Bmsk Normally you install the wood work, measure before buying roofing sheets. You don't buy with estimate. If they were working with a professionally drawn building plan, they would have arrived at a close enough total sq meter based off of the building plan alone so it seems they are not working with a building plan. 200 sq meters difference is too much.

I don't know why ooo. There was a time someone told me that wood is more expensive in Benin. Benin that is close to the thick forests where the wood is gotten from. A lot of Benin people live abroad so maybe money dey flow there well well. ;)

Hi Flo, can you clarify the point you were discussing about moulding the blocks please? You were mentioning some figures (38 I believe) while the gentleman said something about 50. What does these numbers mean?

The numbers mean how many blocks you get from one bag of cement. The best is from 35 to 40 blocks. But some block industries in order to maximize profit, get 50+ blocks which means the mixture contains more sand and the blocks are not as strong as they should be. So it is normal to get a block molder to your site so you can control the aggregate. Watch this other video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYjWfJiwncR7jLc where I spoke with a block molder, it will make more sense.

It's very good to reinforce, but not a must for bungalows. The reason they most times don't request for structural drawings when one goes for approval.
