wow... I knew it would be more cuz I'm on 5 ac and will need septic, which is going to cost $6500. my city water meter cost 3900, but I also have a well with deeded water rights. Here in western Nevada water is a prime source. You do not want to give up your water rights. And I knew the extra cost for a holding tank and electric to the pump house. The well was drilled in 2003 but never used. There is also a water meter on the well so I have a certain amount of water I can use, 1/4 ac feet... aprx 82000 gallons per year. This is all very complicated but such a benefit. I'm still living in my motorhome, Since the pressure tank and well/pump hook ups cost about $4400 it set me back some. Septic will not go in until late Feb/early March 2021. Thank you for all of what you put on your channel. I've been able to watch all of your videos knowing that I have a reasonable source of information for what I am also trying to accomplish. Build my SMALL home with no mortgage. Thank you again for your wonderful source of information.

Enjoying your videos!! I'm trying to figure out the budget for my own home. I'm going to try to save money by doing the framing, siding, roofing, and sheetrock with trim but I know the electrical, hvac, and plumbing are going to be expensive.

A lot of people recommended mr cool for calling as a diy, you might want to look into that, I might do it myself at some point. As for electrical and plumbing it all depends how much competition you got in your local area, less competition more expensive, as you probably know. Gotta make some phone calls, that is one part of the job that is overlooked, lot and lot of phone calls .

The water and sewer cost is definitely cheaper than in my neck of the woods. I would be a little hesitant to bury that pressure regulator valve underground 0:48. I had to change out an old one some months ago and I was glad that it was not buried. Thanks for the timely video updates ... seems like its time to to set your eyes on another build project since this one wrapping up nicely.

My recommendation is to surround all buried pipes with pea shingle aggregate to avoid puncturing when the soil becomes compacted from settlement or weight over time. The pea shingle will flow around the pipe and fill any voids underneath. Most of the videos I watch are the basic minimum requirements and not to many have standards above that.

I just want to let you know your channel was inspiration for me to build my super simple budget house. The money goes quickly but I'm shooting for less than $70 per square foot. If you hire out your excavation eg digging that trench, you can save a lot of money by renting the mini excavator and doing it yourself
@MigraineCraftsman
@MigraineCraftsman 3 жыл бұрын
Those are $600 a day to rent so to be honest it's just not worth it, have a pro go at it he'll be done sooner and do a better job since he's got more experience. If you cant finish in 1 day for whatever reason now your bill just went up for couple more hundred bucks, some jobs are worth paying people to do (IF) you are dealing with pros. Lastly I'm glad I can help you with my little channel, /cheers.

PVC 3/4 inch is what you should use, you can go to 1 inch but your water pressure changes, I would ask around in your local plumbing supply store and they can give you an answer as well. Different areas will have different quirks and rules/codes, but places that deal with plumbers know your local lines and water plants how they work and what the best practice is for YOUR area. Construction is a tricky beast lot of variables pretty much for everything, that is why there is so much drama with certain subjects.

Hard question to answer with limited info. Take a look throught the channel to see how much septic tank cost me on a cabin build. As for water digging wells get get pricey, also hooking up to city water will differ from area to area. Visit your local building department they can answer some of those questions and even point you in the right direction if it needs be.

I would highly recommend using a actual Philadelphia rod not a tape measure with a transit. Also to use sand minimum of 3in below pipe and 6 above to help with weight of soil to no crush the pipe. The sand also makes properly leveling the pipes, really easy. If you did this yourself you could easily do it for $2,000 ($500 vehicle rental, $600 in sand, $500 in plumbing, with a 20% waste factor. (aka oops factor)).
