How about Brasov or Rasnov ? Its seems to be way more comfortable than Bukarest. I was really impressed with Rasnov and If I was moved to Romania I would be happy with living in this wonderfull town. Restaurants there are cheap, good and fancy, Im too lazy for climbing so cheap and brand new elevator was great. You can even park your car under market square.

Olga, great post on prices. I love all the information you provide for us.🥰👍👍💯% Ukraine is VERY reasonable in my opinion. I could easily live in Kremenchuk(but NOT Kyiv) on my $2050/month Social Security income. The big issue for me would be health care. I would love to stay longer than 90 days but getting an extended visa is difficult. Folks, I spent 90 days in Ukraine summer/fall of 2022 and 90 days this summer/fall. I was in the city of Kremenchuk, pop. about 225,000. Both time I stayed in the same studio apartment,PLENTY big enough for a single person and maybe a couple. Rent was about $480/month. The location was ideal right in center city(about 1 mile from the large bridge over the Dniper River). I could walk to most of the business district in under 15 minutes. Same walking time for virtually all services. My apartment was on a main drag with electric trolleybus and Marshuka( "minibus") stops directly across the street. Cost of the trolleybus for adults was at most UAH 20, about $.50 The minibuses were slightly higher. Food prices were very reasonable at the ATB market( a very large chain) 5L water bottle was UAH40 $1.05 Gasoline is very expensive for the high octane UAH59.99 per liter(over $6.00/gallon)"regular" gasoline was abouUAH45(~$4.50/gallon) I am going back for another 90 days next summer/fall. The people are just wonderful imo. Since I'm 76 I don't worry about dating or marriage LOLOL 😉

@@Pete_FamilyLapkinLifeFan Oh, the missiles don’t bother me. If I die, I die. It’s quality of life, such as those cursed sirens, and no flights in and out, travel is a pain in the arse these days as it is, without adding that to it. And the people are fine, but they are in many places. But I can see how having friends there makes a difference. But I have a Ukrainian girlfriend, and I still won’t put up with it all as it is now. And when she comes to me, she gets a break from it all, too. So it’s a win/win.

@@GaryAJMartin I don't really disagree with anything you said. The air raid sirens are a pain in the ass. And getting in and out of the country is also a hassle now that the airports are closed. However, I like riding the trains and buses, so traveling around in country is fun for me. The quality of life is actually better than most people think. The Ukrainians are nothing if not resilient. The shopping malls are beautiful, modern and packed with people...albeit one of the big malls in Kharkiv had a "tarp" replacing the huge glass roof that was blown out during a bombing. So yes, I would agree that life in Ukraine is not for everyone, but I love it.

@@Pete_FamilyLapkinLifeFan Trains are ok. But the trains they have in Ukraine are not the best, and even my girl said the bus I took out of Ukraine after the war started, was bad. And you have to take more than one getting in and out. But if you enjoy them, good on you. Not so bad for you then. You speak Russian or Ukrainian then? And like the cold? Even my girl complains how cold it gets, and it’s her country. Before the war I found it fine. Pathetic level of English, but that is not atypical for many countries in Europe. And also the cold, but some do get colder than others.

Nice to watch your video again. Why is dairy extremely..! expensive..!! in Slovakia?! Cows charge a lot for their milk & cheese, whilst hens charge huge amounts for their eggs! That's not right, surely?! They're such demanding cows & hens! Also, in these countries, do they have an NHS style free medical & dental system like us British do? If people are not working, can they get Full Housing & Council Tax Benefit, as well as Social Security benefits like we do in Britain? Only European country I lived in was over in Ireland, where there's limited free healthcare, possible to get Housing Benefit if not working & if on benefits. Wishing you & your family a nice Christmas here in the UK.

@@qwertyqwerty-zi6dr the present difference between central and eastern europe comes from fact that communists were able to break orthodox church and use them against orthodox people. Meanwhile catholic priests were brutaly murdered but haven't betrayed the catholic community. After fall of communism, orthodox values were mostly abandoned and people were lacking the values system. It's makes a mentality of distrust and lack of respect to shared space. Orthodox countries failed to reform after communism and are still at same level as they were 35 years ago. Meanwhile mostly catholic countries made big progress in gdp per capita. Poland and Ukraine started from simmilar level but Ukraine was a bit more developed. Before war, Ukrainian gdp was as big as gdp of Mazowsze.
