There are so many benefits living there, If you just think "dollar" as "rupees", - You may earn minimum 4000 to 7000 rupees by average per month. Here, your monthly salary will get split and paid twice a month. So you will cash flow through out the month. - All your monthly expense shall be covered with in 3000 to 4000 rupees (If family), or 1000 rupees if bachelor (Major expense culprit is house rent.) - There are many super shops who they give cheap groceries. (you don't have any choice to spend more on Indian veggies (greenleaves, celatro, oakra, etc...) - You see crowd very rarely. - Very Decipline traffic, except NewYork. Driving is absolutely easy. - Comparitively clean air. - Sophisticated lifestyle - Internet is always unlimitted. The deal varies by speed. - Mainly, If you are travelling to USA for an year or few, Its horrible. But, if you lived there beyond 2 or 3 years, you will not like to leave... :)

Sister, thanks for the info. I have a questions.( I am considering as 3 person cost of living) Hope most of the companies are giving only 70-80k only at entry level. Considering that amount, tax will be 30%. So if it 70k salary, nearly $21k will be deducted as tax. Remaining on hand 49k. As per expense calculation, around $3600/month. Per year $ 43200. Remaining on hand $5800. Indian conversion 5800*70=406000. To earn 4L Indian rupees , we have to spend this much? What about emergency funding.? Ithu perumaiku erumai meikura kathai ya illa irruku?

You have done a wonderful job of covering the expenses as well as the life style here. Just recollecting my days when I landed in New York 32 years ago (First time I experienced snow and rough weather for someone from Chennai). Finding the correct school district is very important. It goes long way in shaping the kids education here. It will be helpful to let the viewers know that the salary must be at least 2000 to 3000 dollars more than the monthly expense you specified to cover the medical insurance, Federal and State Tax. Hats Off. A job well done.

To be honest, after living here for 32 years, I want to come back to Chennai (probably in the next year or so). I do visit Chennai every year at least once. To answer your question, it depends on what you want in life. Comforts, education and environment is good in USA. But emotionally, closely living with the extended family ( I mean sisters, brothers, aunts and uncles) there is no place like your mother land. I love Singara Chennai.

Nice breakup of expenses . Tax liability also may be given . Visit to India once in 2 years , for a family of 2 adults and one child may also be included in the expenses apportioning it on a monthly basis . Day care expenses for infants may also be given if both husband and wife are working . I am doubtful whether employees will be able to save substantially after all these expenses and tax .

Can't save if only one person earns!.Both have to earn to save .Leaving a small kid, in a day care and mom going for a job, is not preferred by Indian families .!when the kid grows up and goes to school, mom can go for a job or earn through youtube vlogs😅!
