Thanks for posting this video. I agree that it’s hard to save anything with high inflation now. but if I compare my personal financial saving back to 2009 it was completely a difference story..With one person working ( me and my wife, no kids) we saved 30-40% of my salary. now my salary increased x 3 but cost of living increased x 6.. I remember we paid $ 525 for a rent in North Austin but now it’s $2200. if you add rent insurance and medical copayments that will bring down your saving a bit…

Prem - you have to add 500 per month per child towards college education. At todays cost 4-year college education costs 120,000 dollars and it goes up by 6% per year. So from the year the child is born you have to save 500 per month per child towards education.

Pretty much the same story in Canada. I live in GTA and the rent is comparable if not higher. Medical insurance pretty much gets covered at work for a nominal payment which is a huge plus. Most companies have a decent pension system which combined with Govt benefits comes handy when you retire and hopefully by then the house would be fully paid for. BTW good job guys, keep this going.

Want to know the real impact of inflation and cost increases in general? My first salary in late 1980's was 42,000. We managed all of the above expense items and still managed to save a few $ every month. The buckets may be little different. No Mobile or streaming but AT&T calls to India was $1.40 per minute. The telephone bills were the second highest budget item. Looks like you need more than double these days.
