Dave in Cambodia lives with his girlfriend in a $50 a month apartment in Siem Reap. Simple but clean place. When I was living there my apartment was more expensive.... $100 a month before electric and water. Nice clean simple apartment with large washroom, with shower, small kitchen, nice living room/bedroom. Gated walled building (all the tenants have a key for the gate) and security guard. Kept electric cost low by not having a TV, and not turning the airconditioning on. I used fan only, and cross circulation between windows. I really can't see spending hundreds of dollars on an apartment.

@@brahimfightdesign Sweat box only for the first two to three weeks. At that point my body had acclimated to the tropical climate and I was fine. Cross circulation between windows and using fans is all you need. Air conditioning is a big mistake. Your body will never acclimate if you use air conditioning. Use air conditioning….and every time you step outside will be like stepping into a blast furnace. It takes the human body only two to three weeks to acclimate. Why not let acclimatization be your friend? I got used to the climate…..didn’t suffer anymore in the heat, and kept my electric bill really really low. Win….win.. . 😃👍🏼👏🏼🌴🌴🌴☸️

Hi Mike. Nice vid. The one thing I would say is that you've got expats in Siem Reap/ S'ville doing OK on around $700 a month. It all depends on your standard of living. A room with Aircon and a small kitchen can be had in Siem Reap for around $100 a month. If you're happy to drink cheap beer, go for walks, watch DVD's and eat street food/wok it up at home, you can easily do that on the budget I just mentioned. Obviously, your lifestyle is a lot better and PP is a lot pricier anyway. But there's something there for every budget.

Several basic points needed. What is the length of your lease? How many months deposit? How much is the KwH electricity rate? Some places are $0.20, others 0.25, or 0.30, that's a huge difference. You're on a high floor, pounded by the sun all day, will easily cost twice that to cool the place when it gets red hot starting later in March lasting until late in the year. Only December through February are even slightly cool weather.

Rent is $200 pm, tap water $8, internet $9, bottled water $10 and electric around $30. I mainly use a fan which I prefer to air con. Yes, $407 all in PER MONTH. I loved my trips to Vung Tau in Vietnam and was going to make that my new holiday destination. But covid stuffed all of that up. Thanks for the vid, sir! Very thorough and informative. I know it wasn't the topic of the video, but what about safety and crime rates. As a foreigner, do you feel safe while out and about?
