Hey Larissa! We finally made it, we moved to PV a couple weeks ago. We are renting while we wait for something to become available that we will like to buy. It is like a vacation every day. Walking the beach in the early morning and watching the sunset from the beach in the evening. Every day is truly and adventure! Have a GREAT DAY! 😊 Joe

Did your landlord verify your income before y'all moved there? I ask because I have been saving for awhile and will be leaving my job and don't want a potential landlord wanting to call them to verify my income. 🥴

Life in PVR is getting atrociously expensive. The peso is about 17.5 USD and they increased the rentals so bad it is ridiculous. Unfortunately I'll be crossing PVR off my list.

Yes, PV is getting pricey, like most popular oceanfront communities.

You can consider locations outside or on the outskirts of PV and save money; moreover, there's so many other choices throughout Mexico that are not impacted by heavy tourism. Consider Guanajuato, Huatulco and even the smaller villages around these places. Also, many places are more to Mexican standards, so do not be so fussy about facilities given you'll be spending more time away from home - rough it a bit and save a lot!!!! There are expats living in the center of things, but some put up with minor inconveniences and pay much lower prices by selecting older buildings.

@@dennishassler605 thanks Dennis, indeed Mexico has a lot to offer and has an amazing diversity. Lots of hidden gems all over. It seems too many people have discovered PVR and it became unaffordable.

@@alainbergeron4520 I find that hard to believe, but it's true that the dollar has weakened in Mexico. Nevertheless, I'd have no problems living well in Mexico. Cost of living is about half of what it is in the USA, but you can save even more moving to the Philippines where you still get over 50 pesos for each dollar and where the cost of living is even less. One fact difficult for some is that luxury products and luxury living can be more costly in these countries that have fewer luxuries. The gain is achieved by living in concert with local culture. Stay far away from the gringo belt along the malecon where most gringos want to live; then, learn to live in concert with locals buying from local markets and treasuring the cultural aspects - usually there's so much going on you don't even need to pay for entertainment.

the cost of living has definitely gone up over the years. everything the last two years even has doubled. i try to buy groceries for the month (last 3 weeks usually) and i cant get away now with out spending 5000 pesos... used to be about 3000 and that was for two people now im just buying for myself and its 5k. i have a vacation rental property with a pool. the pool service for 2 times a week used to be 2200 pesos a month... now 6500. a pacifico beer was under 30 pesos most places.. now 40-50 pesos at the same regular places. if you are only paying 750usd a month for a place with a pool thats a hell of a deal and you wont find many places that cheap. my 4 apartments with a pool in la cruz de huanacaxtle close to the beach runs for 1800 usd a month and this 2024 season its going up to 2200usd... and thats for the one bedrooms units my two bedroom is 2400 and going up to 2800usd a month for high season. and im even keeping them just under the running rate for similar properties near by. most are 3k usd a month and some of those dont include utilities like mine does. mexico (pv area) is not the affordable place it used to be! if you are retiree and on a pension.. sure it can work for ya. if you still need to work please dont come here with the idea youll find work unless you create it for yourself and the only option you have really is owning a rental property... keep in mind october to may is the high season and you will have a hard time booking in low season. high season im always fully booked but low season.... its pretty slim, so much that i practical shut down and do renovations, ill rent my pool out to friends for their kids birthday parties but im by no means making any money in low season. word of advice is to come down for a few months in high season... see how it is for yourself and then try coming down in august and feel the height of rain season and see if you could even survive it, then youll know if you could be here year round.

I pay much less for a two bedroom/2 bath, with four split ac units. My apartment is less than 20,000 pesos, with no utilities included, in Versalles. The beach is an easy 8 minute walk.

I've seen 1 bedroom units with ocean views go for as little as $1600 a month so I think this is off. for $2500 you can almost get a 3 bedroom unit in some cases.

Great video!! My question regards health insurance/medical care. I'm considering moving from the US w/ a preexisting condition (I'm in my early 60's), and I haven't seen much info on people like me. I've seen lots of info from expats in Mexico along the lines of, "I broke my arm, went to the hospital and they xrayed and set in 2 hours for $200!!" But what if you have something big like a heart attack? And is insurance available for someone like me? And I do understand given my age and health issues, no one wants to insure me because I probably am not profitable for a company. Thanks again for the info in the video!!
