My wife and I just returned from a week long trip to Queretaro. I absolutely loved it! Close to Bernal, Tequisquiapan, wineries, and San Miguel de Allende. I liked Jurica more than Juriquilla because it has older (larger) trees and established neighborhoods. Also, the houses looked more unique rather than the cookie cutter developments found in Juriquilla. You can also find "high end" shopping in the Queretaro area at the Palacio del Hierro (something we did not see as much in Merida). The weather was absolutely perfect as well. Can't wait until June of 2024 when we're finally moving to Mexico. I also want to comment on your Mexico Relocation Guide: I was expecting to get a lot of information for $395 and it far exceeded my expectations! Thanks for taking the time (thousands of hours) to put such a magnificent guide together.

Nice coverage of these towns. I'm currently in Guanajuato, Queretaro never appealed to me as the suburbs remind me of living in the states where you need transportation to get anywhere. I wanted to experience a more authentic Mexican town. The ability to walk to most places is very important for me.

We lived 4 years in Guanajuato before moving to Querétaro for 3 years. I give Guanajuato the win in charm and uniqueness but after 4 years we got tired of driving to León (not a city I like very much) to make purchases, since Gto. is a bit lacking in some kinds of stores. Plus, my wife is from CDMX and I am from Chicago so we began to feel a bit "en las provincias" after 4 years there. So, Querétaro turned out to be a better fit for us. But, we loved so many things there in Gto. and still own property in town, so who knows?

As you know, recently spent a month in Mexico between CDMX and Querétaro. We visited Juriquilla and lived it. I consider Querétaro the best city in all of Mexico! Also, for people that may think that the rents are to expensive in these neighborhoods for a retired person with a budget of $$2,000, that is my situation too. I found Querétaro, although in the high side when compared with other cities in Mexico, is very livable on a K$2 budget. Rents can be found in many color and sizes around Querétaro. There are rents from $500… to $1,000… to $1,500 and up like shown in the video.

We lived in Querétaro for 3 years from 2016 to 2019 and we loved it. This video is very accurate based on our experiences during our time there. We lived in Corregidora, which is just to the southwest of the center of town and due south from the Júrica and Juriquilla. This wonderful video made me really miss Querétaro and I'd move back in a millisecond, but circumstances dictate that we need to live in Mexico City for now. :(

Muchas bendiciones y exito. Very well done video. I have lived all over Latam and find Mexico to be getting very expensive. Especially in places like the two suburbs explored here. Honestly I'm not sure how one can live in these areas for $2000 a month as mentioned with rents at $1000+, utilities including fast Wi-Fi etc at $500. I came away feeling like a car is a necessity not an option with gas at the time at $4 per gallon. I have lived in San Miguel for two years and City Market is amazing. Not cheap by any stretch. Walmart is much cheaper but boring. I loved the video and it helped me cross Q off my list for the future. Also these suburbs seem very sterile with no Mexican charm. Thanks

Another very informative video. I haven't seen anything on Jurica until this video. I definitely want a more authentic Mexican experience (I could care less about having big box U.S,.tores) and Juriquilla seems to lack the character I want. I do wonder how doable it is to live in Jurica without a car. I have read that is very difficult to get an uber or dibi in these areas.
@MexicoRelocationGuide
@MexicoRelocationGuide 2 жыл бұрын
It's completely doable to live here without a car. It just depends on where your house is. Are you close to a main thoroughfare or are you in a big gated community. You could always save the number to a taxi service and they will come pick you up at your doorstep

@davidboeta1165
@davidboeta1165 2 жыл бұрын
Not at all, these rent prices are specific of the areas covered in the video, which are 2 big neighborhood within the city, Querétaro is a big city and there's tons of options inside the city, you can find nice houses or apartments for way less money in other neighborhoods. And that is just Queretaro the capital, the whole state has several towns or smaller cities with obviously more affordable cost of living, probably less ammenities but my point being: these are exclusive neighborhoods and there's a lot of options, instead of crossing Queretaro off your list, you should really consider it since is one of the best states to live in Mexico nowadays.

Queretaro is a good option to live for expats who do not want to live near a beach, but want to be close to "everything". At less than 3 hours drive to Mexico City, Queretaro keeps the quiet provincial atmosphere of a small town, yet is big. The Historic downtown conserves the houses, churches and other buildings of centuries ago, and it has a quiet rhythm, far from the chaotic traffic of bigger arteries outside. Rather than living in the suburbs, an expat should look to rent or buy near or at the historic center; prices of rent would be equivalent to the huge luxurious, houses outside the city, and the advantage is not need to bother driving at all; just walk in those old narrow, quiet, colonial streets. I f you have the dough, it make sense to buy a colonial house in downtown; its value will only increase with time. Yes, Queretaro is cheaper than any other city in Canada and USA; but is not a city of poor people; actually, most inhabitants belong to the middle class, have cars, have jobs, spend money going to restaurants, movies, travel to the beach occasionaly, etc. Queretaro can be your center of operations, from which you can travel to any other place of mexico; nearby there are small towns with charming pueblo atmosphere; if you want to speak english from time to time, go to San Miguel, just one hour drive, and meet americans and others living there. Weather wise: if you hate cold, queretaro will feel like paradise; according to statistics, since many years ago, not a single day below 0 degrees celsius has been recorded in downtown, and if close, by noon it is already warm. Dry, yes, it is dry for 6 months at least, and with the high altitude, 1850 m above sea level, you can handle the heat easily (it is not a wet heat, like in Arkansas for example, but a dry heat). If you are afraid that you will get bored in queretaro, consider what you are doing now in your home country; probably you can do those same activities in Queretaro too. Safety wise, avoid going to bars at night, do not drive during the night, do not walk during the dark hours of the day; if you walk, always think that cars have the priority over pedestrians (it is not, but many drivers think that so), and wait for the invitation of the driver to let you cross in those particular places; keep an eye on cars (look at the driver!) coming while you cross the street. This is for all over the world advice. Budget: As a couple (cmon, you need only one one, two bedrooms, no need a palace) you can find houses rent for about 500-1000 dollars per month; ideal is 700 dollars, that is already a big house, do you need that space?) and this not far from downtown. Grosseries expenses are about half to one quarter of what you use to spend in the USA or Canada. For the rest, expenses in traveling and hotels, and more fancy restaurants would cost you more because mexico in touristic places (all over the country!) are getting more and more expensive. So you decide how much you can afford to spend.

Is owning a car a must?
@MexicoRelocationGuide
@MexicoRelocationGuide 2 жыл бұрын
It’s a good idea to have a car in Querétaro- it’s not a must but it is easier for sure If you don’t have a car, there are a lot of taxis

It would be easier if you translate the pesos to dollars for some of us who are not familiar with the peso yet. Thank you so much.

These cities look and are very expensive. The rents and utilities are USA rates. Beautiful but expensive.

Hi! 😀Not sure where in The USA you are comparing to but if you’re comparing a rural area to Querétaro it isn’t apples to apples. Querétaro is a modern metropolis with a beautiful colonial downtown. Any city in the USA that’s comparable won’t be anywhere near in cost of living 😉

@@MexicoRelocationGuide I'm comparing these cities with cities (not Rual) in places like Nashville TN my sister rents for 946.00, I have a mortgage in Chicago for 1435.00usd utilities 125.00usd. Also, compared to other cities you have featured (Merida, Campeche etc) this one seems more expensive. Can you find rentals near malls etc for $400-$600.00usd? I would love to move here however my goal is to drastically cut my expenses as I move into retirement. Like I stated, I love this city and colonias.

Ive never understood why people would leave the US and Canada and move to Mexico, only to rebuild everything they left and pay the same prices. 1500 - 2000 a month for rent? Why would you move to Mexico and completely separate yourself from the people, culture, and food. I'll take my $600 a month apartment among the people, thank you.
