Hello Family 😅🙌🏾!
First and foremost I’d like to thank you all for watching, subscribing, commenting and most importantly reaching out to me. You know I’m always here to answer to any questions you have regarding teaching in Asia and my experiences.
In this video I compare the cost of living in South Korea to South Africa. I cover:
1. How much you’d pay for deductions ( based on teachers salary)
2. Expenses
3. Savings
4. Groceries
I hope that this video gives you a better understanding of the cost of living in South Korea. Please be sure to ask me anything if you need clarity. If you want me to do a video on something you want to know about please mention it in the comment section. And don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t. 😊

I decided to make a little list with everything that was said in the vid so that everyone who sees it can fully understand. When I googled I saw that salaries start anywhere around 2.2M per month. Tax 2 200 000 ÷ 100 x 3,3 = 72 600 2 200 000 - 72 600 = 2 127 400 won *R25 887 2 127 400 salary - 50 000 ( to 60 000) health insurance = 2 077 400 - 50 000 gas (highest amount - winter) - 10 000 electric = 2 017 400 - 74 000 grocery (up to 300 000) = 1 943 400 - 300 000 eating/ going out = 1 643 400 - 1 000 000 savings (up to 1.2M) = 643 400 Public transport is affordable. Groceries are expensive. Eating out is more affordable. Some stores (no brand) are cheaper then others for essentials. Groceries from 74 000 to 300 000 Savings: [ she stats that she's saving up to 1M to 1.2M every month] *1M - R 12 170,78 *1.2M - R14 604,93 The total amount of expenses every month fallowing her video will be 494 000 won excluding her savings.

Hi!!! Well I came here straight after varsity no working experience.... I think it’s a nice transition into adulting... I have been able to make clear decisions about my future by just being away from home without any pressure from anyone and being in a new environment opens your eyes to different possibilities! So let nothing hold you back and allll the best 😉

Thank you for this. 💜🌺💜 As a (mature) Professional woman, I'm expected to move to Korea in 2023 for work. It's completely new to me. I'm not quite freaking out, yet. But I'm reaching the inevitable Freak Out, soon. I'm learning the language as a super big priority. There's no way I'm gonna get caught out not understanding what the local office gossip girl is saying. Your content here is super invaluable to me as a South African woman. I want to focus on my work while there. And I've joined an online network of Korean professionals. BUT I'm shocked (and more than a little weirded-out) at the attention I'm getting from the YOUNG Korean men driving me nuts with 'Friend' requests. And the older men wanting to know if I knit (!?). Seriously?? (And yes, I knit.) And I'm thinking... God, let me sort out how to read a bus stop sign or stock my refrigerator first, before I even think about looking at any man! Why is this so stressful?

Hi ma’am. Thank you for the comment and I’m glad you could find value in my content. I just want to say going to a new country for anyone is daunting for everyone however you’ll find that Korea is probably the best decision you have ever made in your life. It should be easy to navigate through Korea using apps like Naver and Kakao Map as you are able to type in English where you would like to go. As for food, there are convenient and department stores every where. Most food items are written in English or they have pictures on. If you aren’t certain you can just use an app called Papago or google translate take a picture and translate the food items. Lastly most Koreans know basic English, therefore should you get lost or need assistance you can always ask a friendly looking Korean and most will be glad to help you. If you’d like I can recommend you free online Korean classes that can get you going. Take in the moment and embrace the opportunity !!! All the best

Hi so sorry for the late reply. Uhm well I guess you need to evaluate what is important for you. Living in Korea can be stressful considering cultural differences / language barriers. But I guess you can overcome those things. It’s a lovely country and you get to meet people from all over the world. For me personally I don’t see it being a home for me maybe because of the fact that you are constantly reminded you are not from here. But we are all different id say come here for a while ( a year) experience and then decide.
