50 things i would hate about living in Dumb-agetti: brownouts, poverty, litter, oppressive heat & sweltering humidity, typhoons, long rainy season, beggars, Malaria, mosquitoes, stray dogs (rabies) roosters crowing, loud scooters, traffic jams, no driving rules, no traffic lights, no street lights, bad sidewalks, poor restaurant service, don't have change, "out of stock", difficulty parking, fake cheese, fake honey, corrupt & complicated visa process, no speedy ambulance service, bad healthcare, hospitals demanding cash before treating you, bribing cops, extortion to get out of jail, disadvantage in legal disputes vs locals, conman expats, Filipina scammers, poor water quality, lazy landlords who keep your deposit, cant own land, skin tax, lack of gratitude if you are generous cuz expats are viewed as wealthy, hard to find a good steak, banking issues, slow post office, prying neighbors, 2:00 AM full-blast karaoke, long waiting in lines at stores, bad air quality pollution, black soot dust from burning trash & outdoor cooking, Pinay constantly staring at their phones, suspicious jealousy, tampo, chismus, no building code regulations, neverending construction, no regular trash pickup & people stealing your trash can, ESL so difficult to have a deep communication, can't understand the Tagalog spoken at gatherings & finally, you need an exit clearance with a background check to even leave the 7k islands!

Retiring in the Philippines can be a rewarding experience, but it’s important to recognize that this lifestyle choice may not suit everyone. It requires a willingness to embrace new cultures and perspectives, as well as an open-minded attitude toward various aspects of daily life in a developing country. Potential retirees should be prepared for differences in infrastructure, healthcare, and local customs, which may contrast significantly with what they are accustomed to in their home countries. Understanding the local way of life, including social norms and communication styles, is essential for adapting successfully and enjoying this vibrant environment.
