After doing some research and digging based on many of your comments, my conclusion is that WISE is going to be the way I send money internationally from now on. I also looked into Remity (which many people suggested) and Western Union but WISE seemed to beat them all with the lowest transfer fees. Here's my brand new WISE affiliate link if you want to sign up: WISE money Transfer: wise.com/invite/dic/jasonb3076 Thanks for helping me figure this out guys!

Great video! I’m headed to the Philippines for my first trip in February, and so far my budget seems to be on pace with yours. You’re right it’s much cheaper flying directly out of your local airport if that is doable. And a big thank you for the great idea Sending your trusted Filipina the money in advance of your trip, and avoiding the skin tax. I have a trusted Filipina from the province, and I will do the same. Thanks for this valuable information.

Once you make the move living overseas your cost will become much lower. I suspect around 2 to 3 thousand USD a month depending on your lifestyle and spending habits as an expat from watching your videos. Of course when creating a new life in another country there will be a one time start up cost unless you keep relocating your home base. A Charles Schawb international ATM card works well overseas or something similar. It will reimburse you for most of the ATM fees you are charge while traveling or being an expat. When finally making the move you might want to open a bank account in that country making transactions and withdrawals much easier for yourself.

This is a very thorough and well thought out breakdown! I just bought my ticket and booked an Airbnb condo in Manila for two months, $20usd per night. My LDR is staying with her family, looking for a job. I'm honestly getting overwhelmed thinking about what to do when I'm there, so I will probably keep it very simple and domestic. My number one priority is spending time with her. Thanks for sharing your experience.

That 2 months you are there I would suggest that you stalk your fridge so that you aren't eating out all the time. Though it is cheap, It starts to add up. I just got back from a 1 month trip. I spent 300 to stalk up my place for the month. I called a Grab service now and then but not as frequently as my first time there. You will definitely learn Do's and Don'ts the next time you go to make things more comfortable.

This was a great video. My LDR is a little bit different since we’re married. We did the dating LDR for 4 years and I went back and forth at least 2-3x per year and some years only once but staying 3-4 months. We got married after the 4th year and married in her province. Fast forward to present day and we have been married for 4 years and I still travel back and forth. I know that I don’t manage my expenses as well as you but I completely agree that it’s better to have your Filipina do the spending on incidentals. I use my CC for hotels and flights and some shopping

Wow thank you so much for that break down! I am hoping my trip will be a little cheaper though I’m not going to count my plane tickets and parking before I leave as that’s something I already have paid for a settled even 2 months in advance for my trip in January leaving my house on the 16th and staying for 19 days. Jason, I use Remitly to transfer cash to gcash. It works great and it’s instant and I will use that while I am there to send to my girlfriend like you did for her to pay for most of the things we do and such So thanks for that suggestion! Otherwise great break down! I really appreciate that and it really helps the planning a bit more than I was expecting!!

That really was the nicest way that I think anyone on KZbin has asked for a subscription to their channel. Most come across like a drug addict asking for $50 for their next fix. On a side note, I entrusted a lot more money in my wife before we were married. But then we had been dating for almost three years prior and it never occurred to me that she would misappropriate the funds. I had to go back home to Australia to renew my visa. organise my financial affairs to a degree and then bank transferred around 60k USD to her bank. That was just over 23 years ago. I've been happily married and living in Korea since then.

@@ProvinceSmile You two remind me of my husband's journey. We kind of both almost the same age when we started dating, I was 30 years old and my husband was 42 years old. After 2 years of LDR we got married me of being 32 and him 44 years old. We started from dating site Called Date In Asia that was 2008-2010 when internet is very pricy so a long email every week to suffice the longing to be together is all we've got plus the time difference and work schedule preventing us from talking regularly as I work 6 days a week. Since after our marriage we're always together. You will know it when the person is the one. It makes me smile while watching your love story. I still look at him the same way the first time I meet him after over 14 years of marriage. You two stay in love.

I use Sendwave or Remitley to send money to my Fiance in Kalilangan, Philippines. The currency rate tends to vary so I'll wait when it's around 54 or 55. I send it directly to her bank account if you have that information and I use my debit card to send it. I think Remitley charges a small fee and Sendwave doesn't charge a fee. So I use them more when I can. Also Sendwave tends to have the higher currency rate than Remitley. But both are vary reliable and my Fiancé has gotten the money everytime.

Remitly. Do not have to take much cash over with you if you don't want to, converted to PHP when one picks it up. It's $5 a transaction (I have only done $500 max at a time). Can Remitly to one's self, or your other and be right there to pick it up. If one's bank account is used to it, it's never a problem. Set-back's to this is sometimes the Palawan pawn shop or other pick-up centers sometimes do not have the cash on hand, plan well a few days in advance, or just drive across town and use another.

I use wise myself to send to my wife. And I spend approx the same on my trips to Ph, but my wife rent a house in Cebu, and I stay for 6 weeks. We don't travel as much I think. Been to Bohol, Oslob, Siargao and some other short destinations.

Yes, sending money ahead for your filipina partner us the way to go. Everytime I visit I always send my wife money via Western Union and she just uses that for us. Like you said filipina can negotiate and know if the price is too high. Sometimes I also use my cc since I have no ftf but a lot of places are cash only or g cash as you had mentioned. We usually just get an apartelle as it is cheaper than hotel and has ac and hot water.

big problen for foreigners to marry a filipina aside from finding a real honest one is if that filipinas is married before that takes a lot of time to process plus finances needed cause its not cheap( atleast to us who is poor). So when you decide to marry one find out her marital status of shes married then ask yourself if you’re willing to go through that process(emotinal and financial draining ) if ever it happened to someone.

To answer your question about the best way to transfer money....I had my wife start an account at PNB. Then use western Union and transfer straight to the bank account. The fee is only like 5 dollars and the money is instantly in her account so she doesn't have to worry about transferring money or picking it up in person. It works great for me.....and MAN I WISH I COULD GET FLIGHTS AS CHEAP AS YOU DO lol....I am flying out of Jacksonville FL in March to Manila...and just the flight alone was 1,900.00 lol. And that was bought 5 months in advance.. LOL. Great video though. Be safe

Good video. I also just returned from my second trip to the Philippines to spend time with my fiance and her family. The first was back in June for 2 weeks in Cebu. The second was for three weeks and I ended up spending a bit more than you. I flew from Salt Lake (where I live) via Delta to Manila (layover in Inchon), spent the night in a Manila hotel ($80), then to Butuan (my fiance lives on Mindanao). A week at a hotel resort in Butuan but spending time with her family an hour away. Then we did a week in Boracay ($75 per night) and a week in Panglao ($65 per night), both were at Airbnbs. I rented cars in Butuan and Panglao. Overall, I think I spent about $7,000. I ran out of Php in Panglao. An easy way to get more was to just send myself a wire via Western Union. It was a $5 fee for a $500 transfer (I got 54 Php per $1, without exchange fees) and the Php could be picked up at the many Western Union places -- such as at the many "M. Lhuillier" places you see around.

I live in New Orleans, and flights from here are terribly high, so I bought a flight from LAX for September of next year to see my girlfriend, yes, maybe a bit earlier, but I had to take advantage of a sale, I will be going to Davao City, my girlfriend have connections to fly locally, so she will take care of that and I am staying in her family's house, we will go to some resorts around the area, but we will book them close to the date. This is perfect information, my man, I really appreciate it! I will definitely send money to my girlfriend prior my trip and I was thinking on taking about 3k for 14 days, my girlfriend is not a crazy spender, so I'm lucky I guess

ticket prices vary for the time of year. next time just exchange at the airport BDO. you will need your passport as BDO requires it but it is best rate. I've been to phillipines about 7 times. and you can use grab too, use the pay cash option. and get a sim card at the airport too with month of load.

I use a card called Wise, allows me to add the currency of the country I am planning to visit, and once I get there, I have the cash eitger on the card or use the ATM to get it fiat. This card allows 50 differen currencies, at the moment i have usd, aust dollars, and mexican pesos. I will add phillipino pesos if I decide to go to phillipines, I am unsure whether to go to Vietnam or Phillipines.😊

How about do some research on what international banks that have branches in the US and PH I'm sure they have services that can make money transfers quite easy for clients I think you can open an account to the local branch here in PH and easily use the bank's online transfer. I think HSBC has branches in the US&PH.

I keep hearing about Charles Schwab but does that not involve establishing a dual investment/checking account, and are there commission fees paid on the investment part of the account?
@ShawnBowens
@ShawnBowens Жыл бұрын
@TB-xx4gc Yes, you sign up it gives 2 accounts, one is an investment account (I've never put a dime in that one) and one is a checking account. I use Zelle to xfer cash from my main Wells Fargo bank to that Schwab account whenever I want, normally once a month. Then I use my Schwab ATM/Debit card here in the Philippines just like I would in the US. Once a month they credit ALL ATM fees back to me, usually around $80-90 dollars worth of fees. It's all free, no strings attached and just works. I have my Wells Fargo ATM/Debit as a fallback in case I loose my Schwab card or have problems, it would then cost p250 for every p10k pesos I withdraw.

If you pre book your domestic flights and when you are there it’s just daily money and accommodation 5000 pesos a day is plenty imo. Outside of Manila and cebu 2000 pesos a night generally gets you a good budget hotel. Although you get more for your money on air BnB. saying that was 2022 just after Philippines opened back up. Thankfully wifes in uk with me married although I miss Philippines I don’t miss LDR. Cheapest way to get your money is through remittance app but you need a Philippine account or G-cash.

One thing that is easy to forget is you credit cards need MFA and may need to send you a text to authenticate. When I went to see my (PH wife) it is an easy thing to forget and can make things tough. Also there are "snatchers" pickpockets so just be a little extra careful. I am very happy with my Fili girl. Good luck for you both!

I always send a money gram transfer to myself keep the claim and amount numbers in code i understand. Some will have time limits on how long they will hold the transfer. But this way i always have money set aside in case i lose my money or debit card. Always send a copy of your passport and state id in an email to yourself incase you need to get one made at the US embassy.
