Extremely well narrated and well put together video. I too have an LDR thru Christian Filipina that I’ve been with for a little over a year now and going back for Christmas next month. @@ProvinceSmile Growing up there, we were always reminded by our parents of the dangers that lurk, and I’m sure Joy heard the same things too. That’s what you hear from her now to keep you alert and safe, especially from other women 😂. The longer you stay in Manila, and the more the locals get to know you and vice versa, people get friendlier and cozier. They wanna get to know a foreigner, an American especially. Your friendly gestures will go a long way and will be returned hundred-fold. Learn some Tagalog words along the way and you’ll be fine.

It's true, a local will get you into some areas where foreigners never go. I was dating a Filipina and she took me back to the shanty town she grew up in, Davao for New Years. Best party of my life. I got caught by myself at one stage and it was obvious this guy was going to rob me until another guy came over and told him who i was there visiting. The robber was freaked out and tried to make normal conversation but he was visibly uncomfortable.

The word hospital means not so much here - as so often, you have to ask and research. In Makati, you could have also get of course a western standard clinic. If you have to go again, go to the St. Lukes Medical Center, from your hotel it is just 15 minutes with Grab. (Or, in your case half Trike, half Grab.. Other option would be Joyride or Angkas, which are apps for Motorbike Taxi, you are just a passenger on the motorbike. The fastest way to get around in a big city.) In walking distance of your vicinity, you cant expect any decent hospital - but in Makati, of course there is. But if you felt taken care of and well, thats nice. I think one of the greatest shocks for an american is the hospital bill of 4 Dollars :D

But seeing this amazing vlog makes me feel much better. My gf told me is the high area of bars,sex workers and seedy people. Thank you fir your amazing vlog and great information. While im here what is you thought of choices boracay or palawan island to stay. Im not sure which one to choose to go to
@JonS441
@JonS441 Жыл бұрын
Ah you may want to keep doing some more research. Like this is straight from Google. "Makati is a city in the Philippines’ Metro Manila region and the country’s financial hub. It’s known for the skyscrapers and shopping malls of Makati Central Business District, and for Ayala Triangle Gardens, an area dotted with trees and sculptures. Ayala Museum houses the Filipinas Heritage Library and craft collections documenting the country’s history." Its also where all the Embassies are located. The Bar District ? Its like basically a single street called P Burgos. Before BGC was built, Makati had all the best shopping malls and restaurant areas. Not the cheapest place to shop or stay though. Because its aimed at wealthier Business people. So actually not so seedy at all then. I would think your GF is just trying to keep you away from seeing any bars or competition. But there are actually Bars all over Manila. Oh and if you are flying in, Makati is just the easiest trip, 15 min from airport via skyway at night. So where this video is located, Yeh this is not what I would call Makati at all. As for somewhere to stay, if Not Makati, then likely Near BGC mall would be the next best for a first visit. Oh but wait, thats just below Makati. and even closer to the Airport. What can I say. Google Maps is your friend. There is also Mall of Asia. Left side of the airport.

I actually love all the sketchy places we have stayed in so far. It's just annoying when it's deceptive advertising. But it's my fault for not understanding the situation better. I do love it exploring though. Perhaps this video just came across wrong. And yes, bathrooms always feel super small to me. Thanks for the comment.

Filipinos are wonderful people, but not all of them. If you are an obvious foreigner then you are a target Always be armed

Yeah, I can see that I attract attention everywhere. Most are wonderful people. Some are not so much. haha Thank you for the advice. I'm not sure what the laws are for that but I need to look into it. :)

@@ProvinceSmile you can’t buy a gun there, but if you have a wife, she can. I ALWAYS carry a switchblade just in case and my wife has the gun in her purse

I've heard of Christian Filipina but filipinas are typically not christians. If ur looking for a good girl aren't you restricting your options by going this route?

About 80% consider themselves Catholic. But I was looking for a Christian girl, not necessarily catholic.

Personally, I think if this area seems dangerous to you and you are having anxiety, you need to move back to the USA. This area is nothing compared to others.

Haha. Return to your safe space! Sounds like something a true modern American would say. ;) I don't live in the Philippines. I just visit for a few weeks at a time. So obviously it's all new to me as any new experience is uncomfortable at times.
