All great points. you are right on. One thing you didn't cover is remelts. Once I decided to start making plastics. I saved my old plastics for months until I had a plastic shopping bag full. I then purchased an injector and $79 mold from Basstackle. Great injector by the way. I went to work remelting hundreds of baits and finished out the season using my remelted baits. So my up front costs were minimal and it gave me a taste. Now this winter I purchased a few more molds, plastic, colorants, etc. So I was able to stretch out the investment as my interest grew.

Great point! Didn’t consider remelts! Thanks for sharing!

I love remelts. I just pour for myself and will almost always see if I have a suitable color already done up vs cooking new plastic.

GREAT VIDEO!!!! I can't afford to get into pouring baits, but I use Spike It Worm Paint on some of my favorite baits. I love watching your videos in order to get ideas of the colors I will use on a particular bait. BELIEVE ME IT'S NOTHING LIKE WHAT YOU MAKE, but for my situation, I enjoy trying to imitate you!!!! Very INFORMATIVE

I really appreciate the kind words! You should look into open pouring. It’s a cheaper alternative and you can make some awesome stuff!

@@lastswimcustoms For now, I'll keep watching you. If things change, I would love to have a 3", or 4" swimbait open pour mold. I saw a video where the cheaper mold melted, I've been eying the pug swimbait. Time will tell, but for now it's worm painting with Spike It. Please keep your warm personality, and humility, because we enjoy your presentation, and wholesome style!!!!

I think Do-it molds are great for new and experienced. They shoot great, the only draw back is the finished bait is "cloudy" from them being a cast mold, but I noticed the fish don't care. I also noticed when you put worm oil on them in the bag they clear up some because it fills the voids, I suspect the water when fished does the same thing. Highly suggest the Ripper XL, 3" grub and the senko, you can find all 3 used for around 100. Also bait plastics has a Vet starter kit for like $130 with 2 gal of plastic 4 colors 4 glitters plus some other start up stuff.

Good advise! I’ve never owned any Do-It molds so can’t give my recommendations without having used them but I do know lots of beginners use them! Thanks for sharing!

Do you recommend getting a vacuum chamber as well?
@lastswimcustoms Жыл бұрын
That’s always a good upgrade but not completely necessary for starting out on a budget. If you have the room in your budget then sure, definitely grab one!

@@lastswimcustoms thanks for the reply! After a lot of research I think you’re spot on, just like everything else in your video! I think I’ll go with open pour molds and start off small, putting the cash into more pigments and powders. I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks!

That was a very helpful video. I've been kicking around the idea about getting into pouring baits. I have so many ideas I want to try out. So,no complaints on the Amazon injector?

I’ve been using it for over a year and no issues so I’m pretty happy with it, especially for the price!

My own experience was terrible. The end piece broke off in time for me to send that junk back. I got a Fish Form injector from eBay that works well.
@allenbmooresharinginformation Жыл бұрын
@Last Swim Customs sometimes we save and others we lose on those budget items. I've had to buy new rings sooner probably than a higher end injector as well as a locking pin on the Fish Form when it came loose and vanished, so it's not perfect either. I am glad it is working out for you and hopefully for others.

2,500 in now after planning to just do 500 or so. It is definitely a rabbit hole with prices adding up quickly. You were being too nice when you talked about stone molds, they are terrible. I've learned that cooking spray works better for me with the injector being quicker, smoother, and less costly. The Amazon injector broke soon enough that I could return that piece of junk and I have been happy with a 9oz Fish Form injector with a locking pin on eBay for less than half what the big boys charge. Other additional things I would keep in mind are a few gloves from Harbor Freight, a dedicated work table, and I'd say to get the larger pyrex cups to help eliminate spills.
@lastswimcustoms Жыл бұрын
Yeah it gets expensive so fast haha. The injector I have did come from Amazon but the seller was Fish Form. It’s been great so far. I agree the locking pin is very nice to have but I’m use to these now.

All I have to say is do your research on molds. I think Epic makes a lot of great looking molds but some of their molds are simply the most expensive ive ever seen. Also another option is open pour molds which don't require an injector at all and are typically quite a bit cheaper. 35-100$ for quality cnc machined molds. Ill also say this, form your own opinions about things. There are a number of companies that all sell the same types of things and people are constantly bad mouthing one another, but My personal recommendations are deadonplastix for plastisol, colors, flake, etc and AnglingAI for your molds. However I have 3 different brands of injectors, colors and flake from multiple companies and molds from several companies. They all work. Do-it does make molds that are very budget friendly, they work, are they as nice as epic or Anglingai? No, but they work. Tight lines my friends
