The pink flower you found on the ground may have been the floral bract of one of the epiphytic Drymonia species, a Gesneriad.

Thanks for your concern but it really was not dangerous at all. There are park workers there, the trails are well marked and maintained and it's not an exaggerated distance. I hike alone quite a lot, and always take precautions to ensure I'm safe. Pura vida

Anthurium and Philodendron look alike, how to differentiate between them?

Great question. The are many ways to tell them apart but here are a few things to look for. Anthuriums and Philodendrons are different genera. They both are self heading but Anthuriums are rather compact, and don't require support. Their aerial roots grow downward. They are also only found wild in the Neo tropics. Philodendrons are often vining. Their aerial roots can grow out and upward. Anthuriums have longer petioles than Philodendrons. Veining patterns are also different. Philos often have lateral veining. ✌️😀
