Lisa's performance as Ophelia almost had me in stitches. Yes, a lot of scenes from the original play are skipped and the order and causes of deaths were altered, but it was an entertaining parody nonetheless. Now I wonder what became of Horatio in this re-imagining?

Milhouse would clearly be Horatio, I like to think he'd the last man standing like in the original play and Nelson comes in as Prince Fortinbras and bullies Horatio as he takes the crown for himself.

In my senior year of high school we read Hamlet and watched the movie. Once we finished the actual story, the teacher put this on and at the time it was the most perfect summary of the actual play and Ophelia jumping out the window killed the entire class for a good 10 minutes.

I didn’t even know this episode existed. I had my own idea for a Skakespeare Simpsons episode and didn’t know it had already been done. Except instead of Hamlet it was A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Bart playing Puck, Marge playing Titania, and Homer playing Nick Bottom. I still couldn’t figure out who should play Oberon, The Lovers, The Players, and Theseus and Hippolyta.
