Just a simple way I tried is to boil briefly in water with plenty of seasoning, but NO salt. The water leaches out the excess salt and the herbs and spice add nice flavor. Actually I boil the seasoned water then add crab and let it poach basically.
@cheriwasser

I am right with you on this subject, the only time I would add other flavors is with something like snow crab which is nearly flavorless in comparison to the king crab.

@@Betoven81 It is pricy. let us not pretend it is not expensive.. This is a dish you eat on special occasions unless your an otter. Just had it last night for b day for best friend ( we saved up for 1 month collecting metal or selling stuff on craigslist, made it taste better somehow) We got the legs and one Tomahawk Steak huge . 6 adults and bunch kids ( hamburgers kept them at bay ). after side dishes . we were full. Well worth it. AS my father in law would say.. keep making those good memories and they will carry you a long way. I am a regular joe so i want to go through life without using the word " decadent " in any reference to myself. so I won't. The magical ingredient is side dishes and good friends and family. Philip Jones Thank you so much for your kind words, sorry for the late response, it’s been pretty crazy with what’s been going on in the world. Family, friends and food is what makes the craziness of the world tolerable. We have to keep calm and positive together. Sharing positive experiences to get through. We have family in San Francisco also and visit them every summer. Looks like we won’t be able this year. Seafood is our favorite foods and we love all San Francisco has to offer. From Dungeness crabs to Hog Island oysters, all will be missed this year. Thank you again and God bless you and your family!!!

Why precook the mussels? Wouldn't the juice released when the raw mussel pops open further flavor your broth? Looks delicious but just thinking out loud to improve even more.
@TheRedduck1
@TheRedduck1 4 жыл бұрын
The mussels that I used were already precooked and frozen. I've made this recipe with fresh mussels before and you're right, they make the broth taste much better. My goal for this video and recipe is to have a simple and quick way to make crab legs that taste like you've been boiling them all day but really have only spent about 30 minutes doing it. It's super easy to replicate and blows your taste buds away. Thank you so much for commenting!!! Happy feast!!!
