Have to disagree with some of the comments. The reason the hoses are not clamped is because they are PVC hoses. It appears that they were glued with Oates Rain or Shine PVC glue. The air tubes are clamped because they are made of rubber and the mfg does not want the hose coming off. As a long time hot tub owner I can tell you that the exterior insulation is a blessing. Anytime you need to make a repair, if necessary, you do not need to call a serviceman or tear out a bunch of the spray in foam insulation. You can do it yourself easily. As far as the structural aspect of the tubs, wood rots and these units are not made to be a diving platform. Purely functional. The pumps are just that, there is a great deal that does into pump selection. Gallons per minute, head pressure, etc. the pumps on this unit work amazing. In my experience the Costco Hilton is literally twice the hot tub for half the cost of a brand name tub. What you see here is a sales person trying to separate you from a large chunk of your money. I've been a master plumber for over 30 years and these tubs are well built, easy to repair, work amazingly well and cost half of the name brands. Buy smart, do your research, read reviews.
@ChrisWheatley7 жыл бұрын
The airlines are poly and the main ones are nylon wound flex. the pressure lines should be clamped regardless if you really want to do it right, Look at Arctic, they use the same nylon would hose and don't clamp and they are arguably the leakiest spas out there. That old pitch of the full foam spas being hard to service is from the old days of poly based foams that harden up, they were a nightmare with the new foams leak detection and repair is easy and you just re-foam the area when you are done... you no longer need to sacrifice R value for repair and if they clamped the joint like they should then even this would be a non issue. You comment on structure means nothing... A thin shell is cheap and needs supports like this a good one does not. They are a good pump, but small and underpowered and it was not the pump I was commenting on it was the effect of the insulation system on the pump overheating... They are not that cheap, you can buy better for less and don't bother to read reviews... most are fake... I could generate 40 email accounts, spend a day on the ratings sites and forums and change any brand from goo to bad, or just pay a bunch of university students to blog on the sites for me. it happens all the time my man unless it is a verified source like BBB they are worse than useless.

I have this hot tub. It works great is cheap to run, and has been very reliable. Only cost $5000.00 US. I would buy it again if I needed too. We looked at 8000.00 tubs and they did not have any of the features this one has. Costco has free delivery and easy return warranty, (if you want to return it). Parts are the same as the higher priced tubs.

My 2019 Evolution Fusion is also a great Spa and a great price. Any Dude can pick apart anything. My guess is that Dude only has good things to say about Spa's he has a vested interest in. If Evolution Spas were as bad as what he alludes to then after all these years Costco would not still be selling them 'cause nobody would be purchasing them. Evolution spa shell is made by Strong ltd. and comes with Balboa control system. Don't be fooled by negative hype. Costco return policy is same for their tubs - TRY returning your spa to local spa seller and see what happens.

I own an Evolution Aspire tub, it's a smaller tub. And we love it. Stainless steel motor. Lounger, and heats quickly after water changeouts. I used to own a dimension one tub. The markup on tubs is ridiculous. Your video and web page is obviously biased as Costco isn't using an inferior product, they are reducing their profit margin compared to Hot Tub Retailers. Yes there are services hot tub retailers provide that costco doesn't. My opinion if you haven't owned a hottub before or are mechanically inclined then maybe use an actual hottub retailer. For me I'd rather save the money and perform the install and whatever maintenance is needed myself. Evolution is a good brand.

I have a Costco-Strong brand 76 jet Hot tub which is leaking water. It is three years old, and I am unable to get it fixed. No support service available on the West coast . It started to leak water after a year and I cannot find the source of leakage among myriads of plumbing joints below the tub. It is a jumbled mess of plumbing, poorly designed, with no thought given to maintenance. Neither Costco nor the Evolution manufacturer of the Hot Tub are responding. It is a nightmare, considering many efforts I have made. It was $7000. when I bought it and I may have to spent another $1000. to get it hauled away. Is there any trash value here? Bottom line, please do not buy Costco/Evolution Hot Tub based on my experience.

@ChrisWheatley7 жыл бұрын
Hey, Jason, Man mass merchants are a mess on these speciality products, they just don't know what they are doing and end up making a mess of it. I love Costco for lots of things, things they can't screw up , but their hot tub program has always been a train wreck, so have all the mass merchants for that matter, the problem is they need to be the cheapest and that means they just can't put enough money into the tub to build a good spa, so you get thin shells, crap insulation and poor construction... check out www.hottubuniversity.com for some great insight.
@jasonmoro62067 жыл бұрын
Great thanks for the info. I have taken costco out as a option. I have now narrowed it down to a couple tubs. They are all around the 10k range and would love to hear your thoughts on each tub. 1st is a Northwinds Freedom. Next is a Coast Spa Classic model and lastly a Bullfrog Spa. The Northwinds and Bulldog i was told each come with a 2 year mechanical warranty versus the Classic having a 5 year mechanical warranty.

Its a gimmick. They are crazy noisy, blow cold air into the tub so they are really inefficient, and all they do is make bubbles... no massage or other value... mass merchants use them because they can call it a pump and increase the jet count... so instead of a two-pump 40 jet system they can call it a 3 pump 52 jet system but the air system is only a couple hundred dollars a water pump with jets would be $800

Hi I like bullfrog for the most part. They use a good electronic control and heating system, the do a good full foam Icynene insulation system, and glue and clamp the plumbing lines. But the shell is an old tech ABS plastic shell. These were all the rage in the 80's they were supposed to revulutionis the industry but the just we not strong enough and had huge failures. No some guys still use them and try and make them work with pedestal supports and rigidising layers but they are no where near as good as good old fiberglass hand rolled self supporting shells. For that reason they cant make my tier one. I also really dobt like all the gimmicks. www.hottubuniversity.com/bullfrog/

So...let’s see. Most products sold at Costco have an 8% to 10% markup, while Kirkland Signature brand products have a 15% markup. The company runs very lean, with overhead costs at about 10% of revenue and profit margins at 2%. The average hot tub retailer makes 50-100% markup. WHAT’S YOUR MARKUP? WORTH 5-10K FOR A CONSUMER?
@ChrisWheatley6 жыл бұрын
Yep, I like Costco sometimes... But they suck at this product, they always have... Personally, as a Costco member, I want top quality products at these super low margins not cheap poorly made crap at these low margins... My point was simply that this is a cheap tub and the price isn't that good even you can find loads of tubs in this quality at this price. Costco Canada has cheap spas with 27 jets on for $4799 www.costco.ca/Evolution-Spas-Rockland-Ex-27-jet-Spa.product.100418896.html Then they have well-made spas with 28 jets for $10,500 www.costco.ca/Beachcomber-667-LEEP-28-jet-Bodies-(112-FlexJets)-6-person-Spa.product.100471303.html Any decent retailer or high volume wholesaler will have similar tubs at similar prices... In fact, I've got better quality more featured spa for less in both cases...

Costco also sells Beachcomber tubs, which Chris W. likes .... but of course there are now problems being spouted about other issue (pricing/warranty). End of day - Chris will never have anything good to say about purchasing a tub from Costco. @@ChrisWheatley How about performing a side by review of twilight, artesian, and evolution/strong spas? This way people can see the differences. Then track operating history of these tubs to see what failures occur. I am willing to track my 2019 Beachcomber spa against your favourites. Costco sells beachcomber so Costco must be doing something right - albeit you will most likely find something wrong with Costco Beachcomber tubs.
@ChrisWheatley5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I like Beachcomber and actually, the Costco leep model is better than the Hybrids but that's why its $8300 for a one pump basic 23 jets tub! Totally what I have been saying.. they are not a good price on hot tubs, Typically they are just cheap tubs for cheap prices and when they try and sell a good hot tub its full pop retail that you would pay from a local dealer with way better backup and support... You can get a tub built and insulated and plumbed the same from several different brands for a lot Less than that.
@One-ou3xk5 жыл бұрын
Costco price for Beachcomber can't be beat by most local dealers. Costco warranty can't be beat by local Dealers - The Costco return policy wordings are concise and clear and allow for return of spas for full refund. I have yet to see a Dealer with same return policy wordings identical to Costco. Most Dealers and Costco use non-Dealer, 3rd party service technicians and spa moving companies. Dealers are no longer enjoying the high profits of spa sales as people move to Costco due to same product at better price and warranty.

Hi Chris, thanks for this great presentation. I bought a Dynasty from Trevi (Trevi Stamina). What can I expect in terms of durability? I am about 6 months in and have a leaky fountain. I tried tightening it and it doesn't stop the leaking. Should I call techs for this or no biggie? I love it so far! Just regret not buying a tub from Costco so that I can 'abuse' the return policy when something breaks. I hear people returning them after 3-4 years to Costco with very few questions asked. I won't be able to do that with my $8,000 Dynasty and I imagine after the 2y mark I can expect some leaks and other repairs (it's a Dynasty after all lol)... My expectations is 5y without any repairs. Hopefully that isn't unreasonable.

I purchased a Strong Spa (Costco Brand) in 2014. Everything in this is true and more. Support for the shell is very weak. I've sealed with epoxy 2 cracks just from stepping into it, as well as several seal leaks on jets and around filter.The jets themselves are junk. Replaced the control panel twice. The big problem with this unit is overheating. No matter the setting, it will heat while filtering. Often it overheats at 109 F and shuts down. The included cover was a single wrap cheapo that lasted a year. Don't even get one of the used, it will be nothing but problems.
