The "spicy bite is short term" and is easily adjusted by more simmering time and/or more resting time. When leftover, it can also be cooled, refrigerated, then left out the next day to achieve room temp. Even when comsumed then, with a bit of tomato sauce, etc, mixed in, and without any or minimal reheating, it is still awesome but minus the "fire".
