Traditionally Shepard’s pie is made with leftover roast lamb which is minced up with onions and gravy (some people like to put other veg in the mix as well but that’s just personal preference) Cottage pie is generally made with fresh beef mince and veg. Both are topped with mash potato and baked in the oven.

All of the extra bits of the pig- we call that 'Scrapple' in the States. It's the snout, skin, liver and other leftover bits chopped up and formed into a loaf and fried up for breakfast. It's really good, I highly recommend.
