If you are one of the tiny percent of people sensitive to one of these ingredients, by all means don't eat it, otherwise, enjoy in moderation. Sure it has soybean oil and other stuff but unless you are eating a loaf a day, it will be ok. I try to avoid those things but if you want bread that is anything like actual bread, you gotta make concessions.

I've been eating about a loaf of this a week for probably a year or since it came out. It's fantastic .. I've been low carb and been in ketosis 90 percent of the time the last 15-20 years and I have no issues with the lifestyle. But this bread make it much easier and less limiting.. while not as good as regular white bread , it is 80 percent there in my opinion and as toast it's just about spot on.. or as french toast is fantastic. Pretty much any other keto bread I've tried is pretty bad. I've had no noticeable bloating or discomfort with the bread or any other negative side effects. I do need to get a blood/lipid test though to see if everything is still where it should be. This video is great pointing out potential issues but don't let it discourage you from buying for an occasional delicious slice or 2 of toast with your breakfast... I'd pay $6 a loaf just for the toast smell in my house :)

I've been eating this bread as well and I do keto because I'm type 2 diabetic. I have no issues with it, I still feel great, I don't have celiac disease so I have no issues with gluten and truly believe 100% gluten restriction is a fad. The scientific enzyme breakdown activity he stated is what happens in celiac disease patients at an extreme, for most people the response is minimal. Think of this, people have been eating gluten since the discovery of wheat and barley so for about 10000 years. And, although its not 100% like bread? This is the best bread substitute I've had. I've tried almond flour, coconut flour, chickpea flour all binded together with egg and its all unappealing. This stuff is great for me. I like his disclaimer though how he said to just try it yourself and see. Its a great substitute for me and the best part is it has little to no effect on my blood sugars which can be translated to mean that there isn't a lot of digestible carbs or sugar in it.

So happy someone admits to dirty keto haha Dirty keto gal here. I get why ppl frown upon doing weight loss this way, but after gastric bypass and putting weight back on, becoming diabetic again and extreme hypoglycemic at times, dirty keto worked for me. Dropped a ton of weight and slowly worked at getting more clean eating items into my diet. I buy grass fed when I can and avoid Splenda when I can but there’s also times I use a ton of it. My point is don’t avoid getting your weight in check just because ppl want to shame you for not eating “clean”. In fact when I help ppl/friends start keto I tell them DO NOT WORRY ABOUT EATING CLEAN in the beginning. It’ll be too hard and they will quit! Once they start seeing results they usually stick with it and can move to clean eating later.

@@boink800 If you pay attention to Thomas's videos there is a list of reasons for each ingredient that causes problems in your body. I definitely would not utilize it very often. Something as little as ingesting a trans fat takes 51 days for it to half life in your body according to one of his recent videos. Do you really want to put anything in your mouth that includes any trans-fats in it, and take a chance and see how long it takes for your body to recuperate from it? You may not realize there are long term effects. It doesn't matter if you don't get a tummy ache afterwards... its how its affectingyour hormones and chronic inflammation internally.

so to be completely fair, almost all food we eat has been modified significantly. humans have been modifying foods for thousands of years to make it more desirable, easy for consumption, or to increase its yield. if you don't believe me look up watermelon, banana, corn or literally almost any other frit/vegetable before it was modified. banana's were filled with large hard seeds and watermelons had small pockets of fruit instead of just being a giant seedless fruit in a shell.

Great video Thomas! I really appreciate the research on each ingredient. One technical issue - if a fat truly is "fully hydrogenated" it can't have trans fats. The "trans" configuration refers to the orientation around the double-bond (unsaturated site on the carbon chain). For that reason, my conclusion would be that partially hydrogenated oils are worse than fully hydrogenated oils. They're both highly processed though, and should probably be avoided entirely.

Just throwing this out there from the company’s POV (I work in the food industry): often times the buyer, in this case Costco, has to meet a certain cost to take in the business. Doing a good, clean keto bread likely costs too much with a short shelf life so the developers had to go this route. It’s unfortunate and I see it happen with so many of my projects.

@@bakmic4953 I agree. But imo it's a 50/50problem. We as consumers shouldn't be so trusting, but with so many "sources" saying different things about nutrition, who do we believe? (I know who I believe. Food/nutrition education needs to come back into schools along with budgeting classes) Companies like Franz that are trusted by consumers shouldn't be allowed to lie and customers should read labels and KNOW when being lied to. Also, I worked for costco a few years ago. At that time there was no "must be under x price". It was "have to meet or exceed x standards". Mickie I totally understand where you’re coming from - I’m a sensory scientist so I do tons of consumer research and nothing makes me more happy than people loving the products we make. I’m alllll about the consumer being #1. BUT the reality is developers honestly do “have to” make what the buyer wants. If you don’t, you lose business. It all is extremely unbalanced, and it’s not good, but that’s also just how it is. Especially in this case, where I’m assuming Thomas is right in that whoever developed this product didn’t do any research into both what keto is, and what consumers like.

Some people don't care as long as it's low carb, but many do clean keto because they want to heal their body of inflammation, autoimmune problems etc. Also, the USDA, FDA and pharma allow so much junk in our food that is making us sick, and clean keto can help people get, and stay healthy. This next person thinks that like, you're supposed to just read the front of the package and believe that it's good for keto without looking at the ingredients. Like they ONLY think keto is for weight loss, and have never heard anyone else mention ANYTHING else about it... THAT'S why we're all in this mess to begin with! People believe that if the package says it's 'healthy' then heck, it's healthy! I'll take 2! SMH!

Well, there's clean and dirty Keto. Some people use keto to ONLY lose weight, and in that case, eat whatever low carb crap you want. But for people with autoimmune, inflammatory, allergy issues, and people that are just tired of being poisoned by the USDA, FDA and pharma, clean keto is the way to begin to heal the body. Just because YOU don't care about the quality of ingredients in your food doesn't mean you should call others Nazis! 😬 No one is going to eat perfectly, but information allows people to decide how they want to live, and ultimately die.

If I ever did it would be far in the future. But after seeing this video I probably won't get it unless the company makes some changes. I did feel bloated and because I haven't had any gluten products in almost two years I felt a little bit of the side effects the Tom mentioned. It's good for a cheat meal but when you have an entire loaf sitting there it's kinda hard not to eat the whole thing. Which is why I try to avoid it all together. But yes it's delicious 😋

@@cm_mb that is so awesome and wholesome :) Glad you are feeling/doing better. I have to admit I have started feeling better cutting gluten and doing keto. Nowhere near allergic myself, but the chemicals can do damage too. I'm 40 now and grew up during the Tab and diet soda frenzy. Mom made sure we heard about nutrasweet and saccharin horror stories. I was fearful and avoided artificial sweeteners so much, I now get migraines every time I eat or drink it. I can be completely unaware of ingredient then BAM!! time to devour imitrex and hide in dark. Reading the label later I always find my nemesis. Mom was the anti-diet warrior. She would go on junk food and soda bans then give in. Really screwed up how I felt about my diet(original term for regular consumed food and bev) and mentality. Glad I wised up and discovered keto!! My kids want to do it too, so they eat similar meals with added things they need. There's mom & dad food(or how they see it, treats) and kid treats like favorite apple varieties, other fruits, veggies etc. My kids have always favored carrots and fresh food over processed.... but doesn't mean they don't eat their Halloween haul or fruit snacks ;)

Wow slams this bead but promote Magic Spoon!! Looked over the site. Each box runs nearly $10 per box for a case of four for $39.00 didn't check what shipping might add to cost. But the main sweetner from the ingredients is TAPIOCA STARCH. that stuff will spike your glucose levels.
