If you are more local to this district, remember cash speaks louder to the vendors than card. This is my go to place when I need bulk fabric and accessories for inexpensive prices. Thank you for sharing❤️

Wow thank you for taking us along! I always wondered what it looks like in the fabric/fashion district. I love how there is different stores for different fabric styles. So much to look at, I don’t know how you would ever choose which fabric to buy! The store you were in with all the glittery fabric, where he was vacuuming, lol, wow so sparkly! That “General Textiles” store, omg the flowery fabrics when you first walk in the store is stunning! At the “Home Fabrics” store the pre embroidered fabric was so gorgeous!! YUM! Lol. Thank you again for the tour, amazing! 🥰

Adore LA Fabric District! Laughed at 18:57 seconds. One pair of scissors for at least one hundred rolls of fabric. (Impressed.) Begin each project with five pairs of scissors. They end up everywhere. Never to be found until the project is finished and I clean. Thank you for posting 25 minutes of heaven. Watched it several times already. Brightens the whole day.

I’m working my way through your videos whilst on mat leave and I’m so envious. In Australia, especially where I am, our fabric choices are mostly spotlight or online, unless you live in Sydney or Melbourne, and even cotton is $25+ dollars. I would love to just stroll through, caress the fabrics and dream. Thanks for the vicarious thrills

Thanks for sharing! I drove to LA after watching your video and bought some beautiful fabric! We took your advice and did NOT buy a hotdog from Jesus. After sewing and using all my fabric I plan on going back to the fabric area of the fashion district and buy more fabric! I had such a fun day with my sister-in-law looking at fabric and going to a wonderful consignment shop that I frequented a lot when I lived in Los Angeles years ago. Thank you again for your knowledge and inspiration!!

Wow! You have a whole store for just silk!!! My town has 2 fabric store options for clothing fabrics and neither one has silk of any kind.I would have to take a week maybe 2 just to look at everything. Another month just to decide. I want to go to there. I am green with envy. It's nice that all those stores are in 1 area . I saw So much that I would love to bring home for a Marie Antoinette costume.

My sister lives in LA. I already told her that when I go visit her, I need to visit the Fashion District, but she's not coming with me because I plan to spend at least half a day there and I know she'll get bored hahaha. And luckily for me, I have a lot of stamina for walking because it looks like blocks and blocks of fabric stores. x_x

We have an area called Cabramatta similar to this but now reduced to 6 shops with lots of shit quality fabric and one with good quality (but also more expensive). I have to plan a trip! I knew there was a good reason I can pack 6 weeks into carry-on only.

I lived in Cabramatta in the late '70's and remember the way it was. But the best bargains were in Penrith. I wonder if the big warehouses are still there. Probably not.

Colleen Pappin nope penrith hasn’t been good in my life. 36 years. We have a couple of places but nothing amazing. In my childhood I remember my mum dragging me through Cabramatta when every second shop was fabric.

Ah, this is an old video but uh, here's the update on my dress I commented about on a different video a few weeks ago: I finished! I'm fairly happy with it. I've never made a dress before, and for a first try, I think I did well. It doesn't look like a potato sack. The dress is a purely fantasy black w/ red accents poofy silk thing I drew one day when I was bored, and now it's reality.

I'm from LA and frequent the fashion district to buy materials for my projects. I never noticed the fact that there are vintage fabrics in Michael Levine's. Now I have to go oggle at theirs and B. Black's and Son's beautiful suit fabrics.... I have no money for all of this.

Oh, I'd probably say "then don't haggle!" The price is still going to be better than what you can get anywhere else! Why stress yourself out over it if you are good with the price!

Oh those beautiful fabrics! Very jealous. I had my eye on a few of those red fabrics in that home fabrics store. I’m currently working on comic book character inspired Victorian ensembles for our Halloween Gala this year. Joker and harlequin to be exact. I am truly at a loss as to what fabric to use for My walking skirt. I was hoping to use a red and black diamond pattern fabric I had found but the online shop is out of it and I’m looking at other options. Do you have any suggestions?

I know! I often do spend my time on the internet buying fabric, however it means that I can’t feel the threads and fabric so sometimes I order something and then it arrives and it’s not the right texture or weight etc. It can be awful. Alas it’s the problems one face on a tiny island.

I feel like an addict that has just vicariously OD-ed. However do you cope with such an overabundance of choice? Yet another reason to visit the southern regions. Subsisting in a small city with only a quilting store and a microscopic fabric selection in Walmart; it is just too much of a shock to my system. Plus extreme fabric envy.

I'm not actually allowing myself to buy any more until I've finished what's in my project totes(which are specifically patterns with fabric and sometimes the notions). It's secretly a blessing because I get to invest in nicer fabric. If you're into dyeing I'd say have a look at dharma trading co. They have lovely natural fibers, and there are swatch books. Though, they dye some of their silks in a decent range of colors.
