Correction. Some other heat pumps are assembled in the UK. Vaillant - Belper Mitsubishi - Livingston Ideal - Hull

Vaillant heatpumps are UK made as far as I am aware. They expanded their production facility in Belper, Derbyshire in 2022 to make airotherm heatpumps. Vaillant have been manufacturing heating appliances in UK for a very long time.

I decided against Octopus and went with Boxt as I told you a few weeks ago. It's all finished now and I'm glad I went with them. Boxt were slightly cheaper but gave me the Vaillant instead of the cosy/daikin. It's performing really well so far. Really good company.

Do they do a proper heat loss survey? I went through the online process and they have come out with a 10Kw vaillant and ask for money up front and an install date. Surely this could result in many over or undersized systems unless an up front survey is completed beforehand.

@@Rossi616 Yes they did all that. Mine came out 7kw online but after the survey it went to 5kw. All radiators changed and the price came down after I paid and got £750 refund. If you not happy the money you pay upfront it's refunded.

Yes they do all that. Mine was a 7kw when I paid the full deposit. After the survey it was 5kw. I had all the radiators changed and the Vaillant heat pump and cylinder for £3500. British gas wanted £6500 for the same thing. If after the survey your not happy for whatever reason you just get your money back. My quote online was £4250 but after the survey it was £3500 so I got £750 refund.

@@mackay250thanks for the reply. I’ve got a quote of £5,999 with them but based on the 10Kw model which I think will be oversized and really don’t want that double height unit on the back of my house.

BottlecapDave has been integrating the Cosy 6 into HA. Hopefully that will result in them showing up on heat pump monitor. Also the 4 pods you get given can all be set as a main control. So you could set a bedroom as the control thermostat instead of the hallway depending on your needs.

Mines been an absolute nightmare had to have my first cosy 6 replaced as it was insanely noisy. New one is a bit quieter but still not acceptable and above the rated decibels when starting up. the Cop is horrendous 2.8 even in these mild conditions can’t get any higher . My house is 7tr wide 50sqm and I’ve ended up with 39m of pipe run with the buffer at the end of the run. There going to try moving my buffer into the centre of the run to see if it helps with the COP. There is 0 control in the app they have removed the ability to change flow temperature and instead setting them all to 45-55 degree weather comp which is to high for my house. and is overheating the rooms. Have had very loud buzzing in the pipe to the tank waking me up at night and had to have the tank replaced to Wish i never bothered or went for the Daikin now they did give me my money back so got it for free but would still like a properly working heating system

Thanks for telling us about your experience, Sorry its not what you expected. "Its teething problems"!!! they will say. Though people keep banging on that the Scandinavians have been using them for decades etc. its good to hear first hand how these units are performing, not those with rose tinted glasses. There are far too many instances of heat pumps not performing as we are led to believe, Nick raimo has had problems with his Cosy 6.Ive heard many people having to set timers and put water reducing shower heads on, to try and limit their hot water usage. Ive even heard people having to move their heat pumps to different locations! Others having the heating on in the day time, set to 18 degrees! Then saying they are saving money compared to their old gas boiler, which was set at 21 and supplied continuous hot water!

@@jezzaandrews1940as always, it’s nothing to do with the heat pump but how it’s installed. Can’t comment on how good or bad the Cosy 6 is specifically, but regardless, if any heat pump is installed poorly, then guess what, it won’t perform. My Vaillant is great and I love it, house never been warmer nor heated for so little £. But I appreciate a real world comment on KZbin from a happy customer that had a well-implemented system is not going to convince any existing sceptics

@@McOw123 Im glad youre enjoying the Vaillant heat pump, I hope it gives you good service through out its lifetime. As for house never been warmer, nor heated for so little £'s, Sorry, I dont believe a word of it! UNLESS, you had oil or electric heating. How do you know it is cheaper? Got Solar and Batteries? If you have, its not cheaper, its just being offset by you being able to produce your own electricity! That's where its a no brainer! if you have a good amount of batteries and solar for the summer, you can juggle the off peak rates use the batteries etc to power the house cheaper. I'm a sceptic, coz I dont believe a heat pump on their own will be cheaper without all the other stuff. By the way, My Gas heating is cheaper this year coz its been soo mild. 13 degrees on Xmas day!

@McOw123 18 сағат бұрын
@@jezzaandrews1940 i do have solar and battery, yes, so as you say, obviously cheaper. BUT in my defence, due to my status as a massive nerd, I also track the "would-be" costs (as in, how much I'd have spent on gas versus how much I'd have spent on regular peak rate electricity pre heat pump/solar), and it is still cheaper when comparing pure heat pump cost versus gas (for me, anyway, but obviously not every house might be the same). Of course such a comparison does not show as big a saving compared.to when having solar/battery, but a saving nonetheless. But I will say this...if you have solar/battery/cheap off-peak rate, then adding a heat pump is a no-brainer as far as I can tell.

@@McOw123 So am I a realist or a sceptic because Youve just confirmed what Ive been saying. If you have Solar/batteries, monitor the tariffs like a hawk, watch your energy usage like a nerd, than get a heatpump. If you havent got any of that, like most of the population, dont expect to save any money with a heat pump and dont expect it to be better than a good dialled in gas combi boiler, because it wont be! If you are worried about the planet and the Co2 you are producing then a heatpump is the way to go. If I was younger, I would be building a Passive Haus, coz retro fitting all this stuff is a nightmare. Anyone with a conservatory in the UK shouldnt be allowed to say they are saving energy!😀

If a criticism has data/evidence and is considered - it’s invaluable - because it has honest integrity & benefits the subject. Sadly, many KZbin/internet trolls just are vile people, emotionally/personality damaged bitter people who enjoy attacking anything they can ‘join in against’ like a mob. No thought, no integrity just vileness. PS I judge you to have integrity generally, some of the commenters (haunting certain channels/subjects) clearly not.

Yes! Some much needed waffle 😂 one thing to mention about the octopus unit is that it isn’t new,they bought I think it was an Irish company who already produced really good heat pumps.Well done for mentioning Ebac by the way,a much underrated British company who make some fantastic products
@alibro7512

They bought RED which was based in Craigavon, Northern Ireland so not an Irish company but Northern Irish. I know I'm being pedantic as most people across the world do not understand the difference but an Irish company could not be said to be in the UK. The Republic of Ireland is part of the EU and Northern Ireland while part of the UK is kind of in limbo between the EU and UK as far as trade is concerned, Just to confuse things even more around 50% of the people in Northern Ireland will call themselves Irish and hold Irish passports. Most of the rest hold a British passport but may have an Irish passport as well as all people born in Northern Ireland are entitled to dual nationality. 🙂

@@UpsideDownFork I know Ebac has a 7 year guarantee comprehensive parts and labour which I thought that’s pretty good , only know this because I purchased a dehumidifier a few weeks back from them with a four year comprehensive guarantee pars and labour, so was looking at their other products while on the site , so when you was talking the other day about guarantees it reminded me of what Ebac has with their units, I must admit pretty impressed with that company, especially when I saw that the owner has put the company into a trust so it will carry on after he has passed , fascinating gentleman who started that company and a very clever engineer.

I am also concerned about reliability rather than absolute maximum performance. Octopus is a newcomer to the heating world, so I am holding back until we have more experience of them. Our current boiler is a 10 year old Vaiilant and has never been out of service in it's life. Before that we had a non-condensing Vaillant boiler for 15 years which also never had any issue whatsoever. I know lots of people with other makes of boiler who seem to have had no end of issues with a boiler breakdown at least once per year.. As another, said Vaillant and Octopus hp's are both UK manufactured.

I have found Octopus Energy to be very poor\slow at fixing faults. They have been unable to read my meter since 1st November and won't be out to fix it until 13th January, if that works. They have requested the same information three times, it's as if no one reads the replies to their own emails. Not much use having off peak rates if you don't know how much you will actually be charged. Rant over 🙂 I don't know if I could trust them to install a heat pump.
