Ha I too feel so much pressure on ‘making the most of the weather’ so much invisible pressure we put on ourselves.

Love those little crocheted critters. Yes - same here - I hole myself up indoors but as we now have a glass room at the back of the house it means the daylight streams in until late. Curtains to go back up I think. It wasn’t a planned addition - the only thing that passed Listed Buildings Consent. It was my craft room but became too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter so now just a place where Molliecat sits and watches the birdies. We’ve had an air con unit in the bedroom now for around 7 years and would not be without it. It’s a little noisy but so worth it and the hot air goes out via a pipe through the wall. Bliss in a heatwave. X

Lovely spending the day with you Ali! I'm pleased you survived the heat so well (and thank goodness it's cooler now!). I know what you mean about those really hot days though - you just have to stay inside with all the curtains shut! I much prefer spring or autumn xx

I totally understand. Summer is my least favourite month. I really struggle with the heat. I hide indoors and keep the house as cool as possible. I hate it when people say you should be out enjoying it. They just don't understand. X

I live in Australia and it gets to 44C where I live but I think you are right , over 26C and I feel lethargic and uncomfortable. I think you did a great job of having a creative day when it’s hot. I will remember that when summer comes here.

I am so happy to hear I'm not the only one who doesn't love summer heat or long hours of light. I'm a 'cosy' vibe girl so autumn and winter is my ideal. Thank you for coming up with such a gorgeous colour yarn, I treated myself to 2 skeins of 4ply and was so excited to see they were ones that had been signed by you 😊 love the little crochet lovelies ❤

I think you need to be sponsored by some portable Air Conditioner company! There has to be something to help inside on the hot days! I don't do well over 74 degrees (23.3 C) here in Northern California! Couldn't live without our AC, temps for a hot wave this week will be 105' to 112' F (40.5-44 C). I sweat and melt easily! Hope it cools down soon for you!

You are not alone. I love sun and a bit of warmth but anything above 24 and I’m done, I am bad at summer. Give me a chilly day and cosy any time. Look up the word Kakotheres. 😂 (ps not sure if your email works but I did send you one as a thank you for making such a lovely colour yarn 😁)

Those little star light (not the name, but I can't recall already!) dollies are adorable. Your girls will love them. And your yarn colour is so spectacular. I do not like the heat, either. Our outdoor space is a west-facing deck which gets brutal sunlight all day and like you, it continues long long into the evening (sunset is 10 p.m. and dusk lasts till 10:30 or later). I noticed that on the day you filmed there did not seem to be a breeze of any sort. That just makes the heat worse, doesn't it? Thanks again for a lovely vlog.

I’m not a big fan of being outdoors in the summer either, the pollen gives me migraines and I suffer from hyperhidrosis so my hands and feet are always wet even in the winter. I always have to have a fan on my hands when I crochet, it makes things kind of awkward 🙁 but it doesn’t stop me from enjoying crochet though. 😁 x 🧶❤️

I don't have the difficulties you have in Summer - I love the light and sunshine, but I hate heat! So in the last few years we've invested in two portable air conditioning units - one for the living room and one for our bedroom - and they're life changing ☺️

Oh I just love the synchronicity that you’re watching Howl’s Moving Castle and making Star-catcher buddies! 💫 They are so adorable. I recently watched your video about summer SAD and that helped me feel less alone in my lifelong struggle with summer and warmer months.

Ali, I can commiserate with you about the heat. Although your 28C is 82F here in Virginia Beach VA, southeastern Virginia, that is warm. Today is 98F which is your 36C and it’s so bad it makes it hard to breathe outside, so I am inside knitting. Thank God for air conditioning. I don’t like the summer either and I don’t remember it being this hot when I was a child. I would call this global warming.

I love those star catcher buddies! They will be such fun for Lillia. It stays light until nearly 10pm here. One thing about the Mountain West in the US is that you get drastic cool downs at night. So each hot day you start over. I don't handle heat well, and living here makes it so much more tolerable. Loved the video! I am hoping to revive my crochet skills enough to do some amigurumi. I have done an octopus. Have a lovely day.

I think I commented about this last year, but I just wanted to say again that I fully sympathise with your feelings about summer. I often feel like I spend months either turning down invitations to socialise outside, or making myself go along but being miserable! I too have trouble with summer heat and humidity, especially here in Alabama USA. It was about 102°F, about 38.8 for you, the other day and we aren't even into the hottest part of the year yet, August! My joints hurt so in the heat. However, we do at least have air conditioning so I can continue to crochet somewhat more comfortably than you I imagine. Your little people turned out so cute; I can imagine online grass green and a few more in flower colors, sitting on your shelves. You could even make some for giveaways, in your spare time😂.

I am moving (for work) across the US from a magical, mostly cloudy, humidity-free, cool (mostly under 21C / 70F) place to a shockingly bright, humid, hot (mostly over 29C / 85F in summer) place. I am bracing myself with not a little bit of wailing and gnashing of teeth. At least there will still be plenty of new wonderland walking to be had (when autumn rolls around at last). In the meantime, hiberkniting in air conditioning, behind blackout curtains, will be my reverse SAD salvation. Wishing you all the summertime relief possible. Beautiful yarn and crafting really helps. Your starcatcher & flower buddies really make me want to learn to crochet. So cute!

Thank you Ali for this lovely video. You are always so inspiring. Is this crochet project doable for beginner crocheters?
@LittleDropsofWonderful3 ай бұрын
That’s a good question, there’s a fair bit of sewing and fiddly bits - you make the head and sew it to the body, you make the arms and sew them on too. The flower/star hat is made in two pieces, then sewn and assembled and then sewn onto the figure. If you’re a confident beginner go for it! The worst that can happen is you have to frog. For a truly easy beginner amigurumi pattern I’d always recommend the Dumpling Kitty by Sarah Sloyer, it’s free and there’s minimal assembly 🐱
