not sure if he says it but make sure you put grease around the oil seal AND MAKE SURE IT GOSE ALL THE WAY DOWN AS FARE AS IT CAN I had to remove my bearings because it was rubbing in it and I just ordered a new bearing and oil seal

Very helpful I have a 2002. Cr250r an put it together an it was leaking out the weep hole, looked at partzilla for seal installation and didn’t really help me, watching your video I realized I put the out side seal in backwards, going to order a new shaft due to it being shiny were the seals ride, thanks keep up the good videos

My crf450r overheats alot.i put a Pro Circuit y hose on it, do you think Pro Circuit pump is worth the money?
@CoteMotorcycles10 жыл бұрын
Don't expect much from a after market pump unless yours is missing impeller fins. Make sure your rads are clear of mud and not damaged. You should be able to see through the rad veins. You could try larger after market rads. That would be more worth while than a water pump. Also make sure your bike isn't just running too hot. Lean jetting, low octane fuel, un oiled air filter, intake or exhaust leak and many other things can cause a bike to run hotter than it should. Hope that helps and be sure to post back to let us know what you find.

sorry to ask something that pretty much seems so straight forward... you have to drain the gearbox oil first before removing the case am i right ?
@goboardcanada62638 жыл бұрын
It'll drain when you pull the cover...
@aaronjefferson44793 жыл бұрын
So did you drain the oil out first?
@CoteMotorcycles3 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to but it makes way less of a mess if you drain the oil and coolant before pulling engine covers. There are videos on the channel for everything you’ll need. Make sure the bike is cold when you are working with the cooling system. Thanks for watching!
@awittypilot896110 жыл бұрын
Why would you need to remove the clutch cover? It's not in the way when you take it apart or put it back together
@CoteMotorcycles10 жыл бұрын
We filmed the clutch removal portion before doing this video. It doesn't need to be removed. Thanks for the comment!

great vid ,I have been watching as many water pump vids as possible ,I have replaced 3 water pump seals on my 2013 freeride 350 and trying to see if I,m doing anything wrong ,you mentioned putting grease on the seal ,what sort of grease ? as I have been fitting them dry and there failing every 10 hrs.
@CoteMotorcycles9 жыл бұрын
You had better check with KTM on what grease will be compatible with the seal. I'm not familiar with that particular set up so I'm afraid I can't give you much advice. As far as failing prematurely goes - make sure there are no burrs/notches/abnormal wear on sealing surfaces, check the related bearings for failure (causing excess motion on impeller shaft) and make sure the coolant you're running is compatible with your bikes seals ect. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and be sure to share if you like the videos!!
@salisburyplain9989 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips and regarding the grease,this I have been told is perfect for all water pump seals , MOLYKOTE 44M, 30ml Silicone Grease, -40 - 200˙C plastic, gears, rubber seals.
@joeyR1CBR1000RR10 жыл бұрын
Great video, but is there a tightening sequence for the case cover?
@CoteMotorcycles10 жыл бұрын
Not particularly. As long as the case sits on the dowels flush, no o rings are pinched and the gasket is set in between the cases you're good to tighten any way you choose. Generally I remove the bolts in a clockwise pattern, keeping track of where you started so bolts go back where they belong, then hand tighten loosely before final torque. The case shouldn't take any force to sit flush so an X pattern won't make a difference here. Main crank cases is a different story. Good question though and thanks for the comment!

@j00st101010 жыл бұрын
i was told to not put a light film of oil on to the new gasket for the crank case to put it on dry. is there a difference ?
@CoteMotorcycles10 жыл бұрын
The gasket is an oil barrier so it's best to put it on dry. If anything, use a thin film of liquid gasket on an oil free case surface and new gasket. Brake clean works well to remove oil and tip the bike a bit away from you to keep oil runoff from seeping out while you replace the cover. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

New o ring on the water pump joint where can I find that didn’t find on website
@CoteMotorcycles2 жыл бұрын
Could be with the case diagram or with the case gasket. Complete o ring kits should have them and it’s always good to have some spare o rings. Could call a dealer and have them look it up then just get the part number and look on bike bandit or something.
@TheChattanoogaBandit10 жыл бұрын
Is there a washer that goes on the back of the case? When I pulled my case cover off a washer fell out, it looks similar to the washers that go on the radiator shroud bolts.
@CoteMotorcycles10 жыл бұрын
You can go check the parts fiche at bikebandit.com for your exact bike if you're unsure. Only thing that may fall out when pulling that cover off would be the water pump joint and o rings.

Would a crf450r clutch case work on a crf450x Bc Ik the water port is different but could I make it work
@CoteMotorcycles3 жыл бұрын
Get the proper case for your model and year of bike. The clearances from year to year will change and it’s not worth the hassle of moving things around because you’ll have to tig weld everything. Try eBay or a local wrecker for parts that will fit your bike. Thanks for watching!
@TheChattanoogaBandit10 жыл бұрын
Is it possible that you can just replace the outer seal and stop the leaking?
@CoteMotorcycles10 жыл бұрын
Since you're in there already it doesn't make sense to only replace the outer seal. The cost of the parts is minimal so I always replace all related components. Up to you if you want to chance it, be sure to clean up the impeller shaft with emery cloth if you're not going to replace it. Good luck and thanks for watching.

The exhaust valve is just run off a centrifugal actuator. As long as you attach the arm in its proper position and install the follower in the actuator properly you'll be ok.

You can reuse gaskets but I recommend using gasket maker / sealant along with the old gasket.

nvm I got it a few pry bars on the little ledges above the water pump and below the clutch
@CoteMotorcycles8 жыл бұрын
Check for missed bolts and when you're 100% sure you got them all you can give the case a tap with a rubber mallet or use the pry points to free it. Don't pet on the sealing surfaces or you'll have leaks.
