I have an ancient Wayne drum chipper and the anvil to knife gap is 20 thousandths per the owners manual. It’s nowhere near that tight though because my anvil bed has a downward bow in the middle. It still turns brush and trees into chips though. 👍

You can get some blades made out of D2 steel And you can Forget About it 4 a Long time 🎶 Love from DeKalb Mississippi USA 🇺🇸

Typically these days the knives are made from A8 modified. Air hardened steel. Actually a bit stronger than D2.
