This is really well done; so many teaching run through videos speed through the card images, making them difficult to follow. Thanks for making these!

Thanks so much for this video Chad. I am trying to bring some friends into the game and this playthrough is done at a speed they will appreciate. As a more seasoned campaigner I also picked up tips and realised that I was playing a rule incorrectly by not declaring all questors at the same time. So very helpful all round.

So, I learned something in the first 32 minutes ! Exactly, what I thought will happen. You don't activate doomed and surge keywords when you "add" a card in the staging area. So important ! Thanks for that remarquable video Chad !

Well done Chad, great video, I'm excited to see what you do with the rest of this series! It would have been better for you to move the lower King Under the Mountain back in to your deck using the first Ered Nimrais Prospector, since you always have the ability to move the top attachment into your hand if you drew another Erebor Hammersmith. It seems like King Under the Mountain would be a better top attachment than Healing Herbs in this deck.

Hello, thank you for this series. Is there a cardlist of the starterdecks? The list in "Hall of Beorn" contains 82 Cards. But i read that the deck has 50+3 cards, what would make sence.

@COTRPodcast2 жыл бұрын
thank you, our podcast had the Player Card sleeves made and we gave them to our patreon supporters last year. The Encounter sleeves used to be sold by FFG, I snagged them off EBay.

I am interested to hear what people think of the starter decks in general. I picked up the elf one first and I feel it is crazy good. I am a new player who started with the new core, and scenario pack recently released. I play a ton of marvel champions and decided to give this a shot. Elf deck seems so strong, BUT that is just comparing it to mono color core deck, so maybe those are just really weak.
@COTRPodcast2 жыл бұрын
You are right on both accounts. The elves deck is crazy strong and the core decks are barely considered to be decks

That is another piece of swag, part of the swag that we handed out last year actually to our patrons. I discuss how you could become a patron at the beginning of the video if you want to get in on this year's, you still have a little bit of time to join.

@COTRPodcast2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The dwarf one, you got to swap some cards around. Next Monday I'll be posting a video where I did some deck building using the extra cards from that deck and the core set, I think that deck is the most powerful.

I was bored the other day so dug around in my board game closet. I forgot how much of this game I have! I have 3 core sets as well as the first 2 cycles and the black riders saga. I'm super tempted to pick up each of these starter decks and jumping back into the game...though I had a TON of fun years ago when I played doing it as a progression thing. Where I'd only add the new cards from the sets as I played them. I'm afraid these decks would ruin a bit of that for me. Thoughts?
@COTRPodcast2 жыл бұрын
We are releasing a podcast episode today where we talk about these starter decks a lot and your question might get answered there in a way. The thing about playing progression in the early days of the game is that you really don't have a good cardpool to do much of anything. So I think adding the starter decks will just add to the fun. You could always divide up the number of quests you have and then add a random starter deck to your carpool at certain intervals of the progression?
@asyncritus Жыл бұрын
I have a question about Gloin that I don't believe you covered (apologies if you did and I missed it). If playing him gives you your 5th dwarf character in play, are you able to trigger his response? Or do you have to already have 5 dwarf characters in play when you play him?
@COTRPodcast Жыл бұрын
Excellent question, since the response triggers after he has entered play, you DO get to trigger it!
@robertcarlyle4946 Жыл бұрын
so Dain basically does nothing except give a passive boost ?
@COTRPodcast Жыл бұрын
Well, his passive ability is one of the strongest in the game. But if you can put readying on him, then he could commit to the quest and then ready. He would actually boost himself and everybody else. And there’s plenty of times you don’t need his combat boost and it makes more sense to defend with him because the other dwarves have plenty of attack.
@robertcarlyle4946 Жыл бұрын
@@COTRPodcast once he commits does that not cancel his effect even if you ready him after ?
