Linda! Thank you for your language!!! I, like you, am a mother of two boys and wife and we just purchased a new home. My kids and husband appreciate my passions, but they don’t always understand them. Thank you for giving us all the language and example of living a garden inspired life. It’s more than just plants, flowers and candles. All of your listeners love you so much because you are constantly reminding us of how much the act of gardening, taking time to light candles, arranging flowers and searching for inspiration is for our soul. It gives us all such great joy and vibrancy! Thank you, thank you !!!

Yes! I change my bedroom duvets four times a year with the seasons. Winter is red, spring is white, summer is blue, fall is brown. It makes me happy to connect with the seasons.

I have a white bedspread that stays on the bed all year; however, over the years I have collected beautiful old and antique quilts, so I spread at the bottom half of the bed, the quilt that is in season. I have tulips, sailboats, Xmas wreaths, homestead design and more. I use to fold them and pile one on top of the other, but decided to display them on the bed. Makes me happy 😆

I change my bed coverings seasonally too I switch out pillows , the throws and shams , I also switch out pillows and on my sofas but only twice light hues for spring summer and navy blue for fall winter while adding only one or two festive ones for the holidays…it’s the little things like that which make me smile.

Linda, I love your outfit! The colors are perfect for you. Sorry you had problems with your bath hot water, glad it is fixed. I also had a bathroom window similar to yours. You may want to consider placing a curtain in the curved top part of the window. Without one, trust me, when the light is on the neighbors across the street can see into your bath from their second story. I found a curtain designed to fit into the curved top and it was lovely. Keep up the great job! 😊

Hi Linda! I put many of my tear sheets in a three ring binder that are in plastic sleeves. They are organized by the garden areas I have or hope to have. Others are in folders. Then of course I still have the “to go through” pile

That’s what I do also. Binders with plastic sleeves. Another tip is to use binders (I liked the Staples better binders) to corral all the manuals, warranties, part lists etc. for all the stuff you buy. You can get three ring pockets that zip close. In those you can put small booklets, receipt or even small parts.

I must admit: I became lazy and don't tear sheets from my magazines any more. I take pictures of my favorite pages, with my phone, and have a 'Home Decor Idea' file. I copy pics from the phone to a thumb drive, and also copy to my big desk computer, so I can see bigger versions. It is amazing how I know when I see an old picture, why I chose it in the first place. Best thing is that I have my ideas with me wherever I go, right on my phone pic file!

What a sweet gesture - giving the remainder of your children's books to Matt for his son, Jacob. Books are always a great gift and it sounds like his son is enjoying them. Lots of great organizing and decorating suggestions in this video. However, after listening a couple times I couldn't catch whose photography will hang in your bathroom. Always looking forward to the next video.. thank you all, Linda, Stewart and Matt.

Been sulking around the house this morning after my feelings getting hurt pretty badly…. So i fired this up with my comfort food lunch (mashed potatoes and gravy) and this JUST LIFTED ME right out of my funk! I started repotting houseplants that will soon go out to the decks and porches. And I cut some Quince and magnolia from the garden to force inside. Thank you Linda for the community you bring to life here.❤ Can’t wait for the companion journal coming! 🎉QOTD: I decorate a simple composition notebook and paste my magazine tear sheets into them using a glue stick. I can index it in front, and I can make notes next to the tear sheets about what is speaking to me, or how and where I should consider this in my own home. It’s cheap, I can add a pocket by folding down a corner to stash things. I have one for indoors, one for outdoors, and one for food.

Thank you for normalizing keeping tear sheets from magazines, Linda. I have many old magazine pages dating back to the 1980s and 1990s (mostly fashion but some interior decorating/design). They're among my most prized possessions and they take me back in history when I look at them, putting me in touch with what I used to love and what I still do -- and how design and color has influenced me over the years. I'm decidedly low-tech -- I keep them in large yellow office envelopes. Not ideal for display but they keep everything corralled. By the way, it's remarkable what you've done with your new house in the time you've been there. It looks beautiful!

Loving the kitchen. It’s really coming together. ❤ I like the cart in its current location a lot better than where it was previously. I understand it takes time though. I am still working on mine. Came back to say that I actually liked the color coordinated books in the office. Normally I hate when people do this. But it works here because all the books are the same subject-gardening.

I love everything you’re doing but I have one suggestion for your stackable washer and dryer- it might make laundry chores easier when you get older to raise them up at least a foot above floor level. You can have a drawer under them. We recently raised ours and it’s so much easier.
@Cmallon81

That might be too tall but it depends. I have had a stacked washer/ dryer in the past and if had been raised much it would have been inconvenient for getting clothes in and out of the dryer. I am 5’6” for reference.

I have been tearing magazine pages for 40+ years. Years ago I put them in binders, then moved to a file folder method. 4 years ago I scanned everything into my computer and organize by type of inspirations. It is so much easier to access the beautiful things I want to save. I can also pull them up on my phone when I am out shopping. Nowadays I get my magazines digitally so it it easy to save a picture to my files. If I see it in someone else’s book or magazine I just take a picture and move that to the file.

Like you, I’m always cutting out pages from magazines showing plants and flower arrangements that inspire me. I put mine in a big three-ring binder and enclose each page in a three-hole glassine divider. That way, the pages don’t tear and I can flip through them quickly to find what I’m looking for. I also use tabbed dividers that are labeled “Flowers”, “Floral Arrangements” “Planting Schemes”, etc. so I can go to the right section when I need to. Love your show!
@supergirl460
@supergirl460 Жыл бұрын
This is exactly what I do! Three ring binders with page protectors. And I also put a solid color page in each page protector and then put whatever I’m keeping in. Then it keeps the front image separate from the next page! Makes it easier to turn the pages, being more sturdy and also allows you to focus on each individual page without seeing what’s on the next one! And yes labels are the key as well! This feeds my need for origination so much! I even have one for DIY’s, garden, clipped recipes, color palettes, home decor, travel, and so forth. And then those are sub categorized 😂.

I use 3-ring binders for decorating inspiration. I have a separate one for recipes. I've also made 3-ring binders for others when they have moved for garden inspiration. I customized it with a detailed landscape plan for their new property, names and information about each plant, resources where they can buy the plant and hardscape material, and even some estimates of costs with recommendations for installing the landscape in phases if they want to spread out the expense.

Really love the daffodil arrangement - looks like you came upon it in the Wood! I bought that same console table in your bath and it's stunning for those of you thinking of getting it. So nice and at a good price, too. Very functional. I also have a writing desk on one side of my bed - love the look and I use it as my makeup table. Things looking so nice in your new home...

It was a good way to repurpose those school items I no longer needed too. I also have a cork board to put my most recent projects to keep them fresh in my mind and to remember to keep at it. I also put all my post cards, greeting cards and mementos in a scrap book for safe keeping. BTW Linda! I love the idea of a Friday Flower Foray! I also have three categories that are very "me": Antiques Vintage favorites Gardening I still have magazines as inspiration...and I've started writing down ideas in a spiral notebook for the new house. By the time the house is being built, I hope to know exactly what I want, everywhere.

I bought a 5 year journal after I saw you using yours. Today hubs and I had a discussion about when the Martins (migratory birds) arrived last year. I was able to answer our question because I noted it in my journal last year.

Yes, I save my beloved magazine, Victoria, Horticulture, English Garden, English Home and look thru them according to the season and get ideas. I have some old magazine stands and then also stack them under some shelving. I do change my bedroom and throughtout the house with the seasons....... I love doing the changes. Love your bathroom!!!

I have them in folders. But threw everything out just recently as I was overwhelmed by the amount. Now I will only have one folder 😎 Your flower arrangement is way nicer and insperational than the photo! That’s why I loove looking at your videos Linda! You take a photo as insperation and make it a 100 times better 😘

Linda , I don’t think you mentioned the photographer name that you want to hang photos of in your bathroom. Or am just not hearing it?

I love your office...so inspirational. I too would like to know how everyone organizes their tear offs, I've tried different ideas but they never seem to work.

I change bedroom bedding and curtains with winter/summer. Have thought about putting slipcovers on living room furniture for lighter look for summer, but haven’t pulled the trigger on that one yet.

Love the daffodil arrangement! Daffodils are one of the dirty dozen flowers. I add a Chrysal CVBN tablet to the vase water as it is effective against bacteria. Adding flower food will help your blooms last longer.

I’ve put my tear sheets from magazines in a accordion file folder. Then every few years, I try to go thru and thin out if needed.

I have a light quilt on my bed during summer, heavy quilt during winter and then if it gets below 20 at night I place a heavy throw on top of my heavy quilt. Also sleep with thermostat turned way down in winter. And have separate bedroom from my husband. He sleeps with way too much coverings than me and it’s one of reasons I love my own bedroom. Works out great!

I keep images and articles in 3 ring binders with clear plastic sleeves. I have done this for years when I use to have dozens of magazine subscriptions.

I use a large binder with page protectors that I can slide the tear sheets into .. (even though I have decor files on my phone, I still love turning actual pages) then I can also use organizer tabs to categorize them
