Part of me wants things to work out with my boyfriend, move to a city, and become an actress. The other part of me wants to call up a girl I know, ask her out, and someday run away to a distant countryside to live in our little cottage with our many pets and baked goods, eventually adopting and raising the next generation of aesthetic cottagecore children, all while wearing mushroom-embroidered dresses and handknit sweaters. I'm a conflicted person.

Here lemme rewrite Sleeping Beauty by combining it with Beauty and the Beast: Princess Aurora is born, and lives a beautiful life with her mother and father until she is seven years of age. Her parents are far too busy with leading their kingdom to look after Aurora, and so they hand her over to three old women until she should turn sixteen. One day, while walking through the woods collecting berries, and finds a lovely girl, maybe a bit older than she. She introduces herself; “I’m Belle, I’m from a small town just west of here. I live with my father; an old man, but a wise one nonetheless.” She was adorned in a blue dress with a white apron, her honey brown hair pulled back. They talk for a while, showing each other secrets about the wood they were ignorant to before. They looked up to see the sun caressing the horizon. They exchanged goodbyes, both scurrying back home. Meanwhile, in Belle’s hometown, her father goes missing one afternoon. Gaston offers to go find him for her; “Believe me, darling, with muscles like these, your father will be home within twenty four hours!” She did not listen to him, as usual. Gaston had been after her since the day he could speak. He had made an ass of himself many times before, she was not interested in watching him do it again. So, she set off to find her father. Princess Aurora had been writing and rewriting the same letter over and over again. She planned to send it to Belle, but could never find the words. After hours of writing and reading and writing again, she was interrupted by her caretaker, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. “Dearie, your sixteenth birthday is arriving soon,” they explained, “Soon, it will be your turn to fill your mother’s place as queen.” She was less than excited for that to happen. She wasn’t interested in becoming the queen, but she had no other choice. She also wasn’t interested in finding a husband to be her king, but, once more, she had no choice. Belle was standing on the doorstep of a castle, old and grimy. Although it was a scary sight to look at, it had a charming feel to it; moss and vines covered the windows, blocking out the already dim light. She knocked on the door, to no response. ‘Alright,’ she thought, ‘I’ll let myself in.’ She opened the doors, dust and dirt briefly clouding her vision. She walked through the empty halls, candles as her only light source. She was grabbed by her wrists, pulling her backwards. She screamed, but a hand went across her throat. Struggling to breathe, she strained against the restraints. After a minute of being dragged, she was thrown carelessly into a cell, her vision fading to black. “Next,” she whispered to her mother. The queen looked at her, surprised, but dismissed the suitor with a wave. “Darling, that’s the last of the men we’ve seen potential in, why none of them? They seemed like nice husbands, and they loved you, too!” She refrained from using too harsh of a voice on her daughter, knowing that she still had a say in who she married. “Yes, I’m sure they loved me just fine, they can love me all they want, but I don’t love them. I don’t even know them, Mother!” The princess exclaimed. The queen sighed, placing a cold hand on Aurora’s shoulder. “Aurora, my darling, my light...” she struggled to find the right words to say, “Queen or not, I think you should still find a good husband...or, anyone that treats you well, rather.” They sat in silence for a long while, unmoving. “Goodnight, Mother.” And with that, she walked to her bedroom. “Belle? Please, sweetheart, wake up!” She was awoken by the sounds of her father’s crying voice. He was clawing at the bars of the cold cell next to her, practically begging for a response. Her eyes shot open, and she sat up with a snap. They rejoiced in one another’s company, but their glee was cut short. A large figure appeared in front of them, looking at his hopeless prey. “Please, sir, I would give up my life for her! Let her go, I beg of you!” He did not hesitate to shut him down. But Belle spoke up: “Sir, I do not know who your are, nor what you plan to do, but I will only comply with your wrongdoings if you let my father go.” Maurice looked at his daughter with tears in his eyes. The large beast spoke in a deep, raspy voice: “If that is what you wish.” He unlocked the door to his cage, and they both watched as he scurried out of his palace. Maurice got atop his horse, the one Belle rode to this wretched place, and raced back to the small town. “Help! I beg of you! Somebody!” Several people looked in the direction of the short, old man. Gaston was first to rush over, recognizing Belle’s father. “Sir, what is it you need?” “Belle, she’s in trouble!” He delivered all the information he knew to Gaston. He did not skip a beat to ride his horse out to the castle, unafraid of the consequences. He found her quite fast, and slid on his knees to see her. “Belle, I can get you out of here, I promise just give me a moment to-“ but she hushed him. “Gaston, listen to me. You don’t have enough time, he’s coming back any minute now. Take this,” she pulled a letter out of her pocket, “and run. Go west, to the kingdom just outside of here. Give it to the princess. Now go!” He did as he was told. “Princess, there’s a visitor for you,” her maid spoke in a soft voice. She cocked an eyebrow and the statement, but gathered up her skirts and exited the library. A man stood before her, tall and large. “...Hello, sir, what is it you needed?” She asked, bowing her head in respect. Despite the fact that she was royalty and he was most definitely a commoner, she still treated him like a human. “A letter, your majesty. From a friend of mine.” She took it gingerly, opening it slowly. This is getting long so yeah they kill the beast and then they get married and live a wonderful cottage life yay
