For some of us kids in the 1970s, the only entertainment was radio, and listening to such greats as CCR. We would tape their songs, and listen to them over and over again. It wasn't a time of plenty, but we were none the worse for it. The Seventies were special.

Before social media we didn't have the benefit of people influencing others with their misery. Because of this, it might not ever be the same as it was before we got so "smart". But music is the best time traveling device we have available to us. So, enjoy friend.

I grew up listening to CCR and so many other wonderful groups of the 60's and 70's. I still listen to the same songs along with a few later ones that I selectively added to my favorites. I'm retired now and spend a little time each day listening to music. Let's always keep the classic songs alive. Thanks and take care.

Yes I'm not quite there yet , but I sure do hope our sick world can keep the classics alive for a long time. We need them to keep us sane
This just randomly popped up while listening to my local radio. I'm not a "farm" or "ranch" person. I always grew up in a city. I was born after 2000. I generally don't like country music. I'm not even american, nor have visited a place similar to the one describe in this song. And yet, somehow, this song makes me feel at home

While we were at my Aunt & Uncle's house in Virginia, My uncle found this song and played it. My Aunt & Uncle started dancing with my cousins and we all cheered them!!! Then my mother said, " You haven't seen anything yet"!!!! Then my mother, My Aunt Rose, My sisters Eva, Nancy, Caroline, and me got up and just ripped the patio up!!!! My girlfriend Debbie FREAKED OUT!!!! we got done and we all hugged and kissed my girlfriend Debbie!!! My mother was crying and held all of us!!! She Said, " These kids were Children when they first heard this"!!! My Aunt Rose replied, " These kids NEVER lost their touch"!!!! I told Debbie, " honey!!! Eva and I used to just have so much fun dancing to this and we taught Caroline and Nancy how to dance to this as well!!!!

I used to sing this in mid 60's. I don't recall whose recording I was singing. Lead Belly wrote it in the 40's. Actually in high school quite often a group of us boys would sing it between classes. My grandpa and uncle raised cotton. That stuff could cut your fingers. About a month ago I was in Shreveport at food joint. This came on the PA. I and an older woman sang this song. Had a good time, laughing and cutting up.
