This is my James Tyler Black Classic (what used to be called the "Landau Classic")!
It has Tyler single coils (JTS 5500) and a Secret Humbucker which pair really well. The Gotoh 510(T) with Raw Vintage saddles has become one of my favourite trem system ever, as have the Kluson vintage machine heads. I set the bridge up kinda like Carl Verheyen/Jeff Beck so that it's floating and you call pull up a Minor 3rd on the G-string. The neck has a pretty unique profile and is quite thick for a Strat- it also has rolled fingerboard edges so feels pretty worn-in.
All tones are coming from my Kemper!

Very precise (especially the timing of those technical arpeggios). ... Nothing clumsy or unpolished about it. ... Also .. I already suspected that there were, at least, two of you.

Can I ask which brand of strings and gage that you use on your Tyler? I know in the past that Dann Huff used the dean markley signature series on his number one strat. But I've also heard another guy on KZbin who uses d'addarios on his Tyler strat. Trying to figure out which way to go on my own strat when it comes to strings. I have the Dean markley signature series. But thinking about maybe trying something different.

@RichardWatson 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dan! I've been a long time user of D'addarios but I actually have Ernie Ball Primo Slinky (9.5 to 44) on my Tyler at the moment. I'm really not a fan of 9's usually but I wanted to try a slightly lighter gauge for some of the Huff stuff and found the Primos to work great as a compromise.

Hi Rich what pickups ? No Demeter ? Brilliant playing and sound 😎❤️ Where you get your Tyler ?? Got mine in States 15 years ago ! Without doubt the best guitar I’ve ever played cost a fortune but will stay with me forever other PRS and custom shops move on but this guitar just resonates with such a vibe and sound don’t know how they do it ! Black magic ! The preamp in mine is just brilliant 😎❤️
@RichardWatson
@RichardWatson 4 жыл бұрын
That's awesome, man! Do you own a Classic too? Nope, no Demeter in this one but if I ever decide to sell my own kidneys then I'd love to pick up a Level 3 Classic (ex-Huff model)! But yes, Tylers have vibe for days!

@RichardWatson
@RichardWatson 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael- indeed, sadly I'm still waiting to get my amps back from the repair shop... they went in just before lockdown and the rehearsal studios hasn't opened yet- sucks! So at the moment it's all Kemper- mostly Divided by 13 and Diesel profiles!

@@RichardWatson Yeah this covid shit is crazy, I think we are going for our second lockdown soon in NSW, some people just wont listen! How do you feel about the Kemper, I've been watching one but unsure if it's a direction for me?? Cheers mate..
@RichardWatson
@RichardWatson 4 жыл бұрын
I know, man- crazy, isn’t it. Re: Kempers- the way I see it is that they are an amazing tool. There are a lot of great and very useable tones that sit very well in a track, they are very easy to use, fantastic for home recording/practice (especially if noise is a consideration) and they are great for any situation where you have to travel. The flip side is that they will never be as fun as an amp! Playing a Kemper at a gig is a very different experience to playing a great tube amp- the latter is far more inspiring to me. But for me, it’s not a one or the other- they both have unique advantages and disadvantages and ultimately it’s going to come down to which works better for the particular playing situation you’re in! I’ve been very happy with mine but my amps are going nowhere- hope that helps!
@michaelreis8266
@michaelreis8266 4 жыл бұрын
@@RichardWatson Thanks for your candid response, it helps greatly and makes perfect real world sense. I have an old modeler with a few usable sounds, but there is daylight between my amps and it. It's likely that the Kemper would bridge the gap some, but i'd regret selling my amps(shock at the thought). My concern is that with less gigs there will be less valves sold and valve production will become unfeasible pushing people to the digital platform and making valve amps redundant or incredibly expensive to run. I hope this doesn't happen and the elastic snaps back from the current dystopia we find ourselves in. Cheers mate 😁👍
