Not boring at all! As somebody with a mortal fear of running it's great to get some perspective and insight before I embark on my own couch to 5k journey. Thanks for the content!

Hi @AidenNeill3 Thanks for the positive feedback, I really appreciate it! I wish you well when you being the C25K programme. Best advice I can offer is to take each run one at a time and don't think too far ahead. That, and don't go too fast! The only time I would recommend thinking aheaad is when you get towards week 9 (and you WILL get to week 9, trust me!) It's a good idea to have a new challenge to set yourself to pick up when you graduate C25K. As well as C25K videos, I have more content that goes right up to 10K and beyond and there are interesting diversions along the way, so please keep watching. All the very best for your running journey. Andy.

I am starting week 2 this week and was searching for others who have completed it and your videos are so encouraging, you exude positivity :) Due to low mental health in lockdown I restarted this multiple times but never saw it through to the end, but am determined to do 30k across November for charity as my motivation

Hi Phoebe. I'm so pleased you're enjoying the videos. I'm sorry to hear you struggled in lockdown. So many people did, and it's not surprising - it was such a tough thing for us all to cope with. Good for you that you've kept having a go at C25K and are determined to reach your goal. I find setting small challenges really helps, so raising money for charity is a wonderfully positive thing to do and will keep you motivated to get out there and keep running! All the very best with the programme. You really can do it!! Andy

I too have begun this at the age of almost 49. Many 'professional' tips out there from good people that I just haven't connected with. However, you have been an immense inspiration. It's been great to watch an 'ordinary' member of the public ( no offense meant there ! ) like me, never having run in their lives, actually DOING it and giving it a go. I had never run as an adult two weeks ago. I'm pushing hard now to join up the Army reserves. I've gone from dying on the sixty second 'run' to now covering 1.1K in 8.44. Still have a huge way to go, but I couldn't run from here to there fourteen days ago. I'm absolutely thrilled and loving this fitness lark. I'm hitting the gym everyday and aerobics at home. Since April I'm down 3.5 stone for my goal to pass these fitness tests. Smashing vlogs, thanks for making them. You've been mega encouraging. Hope you're still running ?

Hi Mandy. Thanks for your kind comments. I'm so pleased you're finding my random waffling in any way helpful. You sound similar to me. I started running at pretty much the same age as you and I couldn't believe the progress that was possible by following C25K. I'm very impressed by you adding gym work and aerobics - that's way more advanced than I'll ever be! Good luck with the Army reserves. That gives you a goal to aim for. I have continued running. There are lots of videos on the channel that take me right through the whole C25K programme week-by-week and then beyond that. I'm currently uploading weekly updates on a Thursday. There's a playlist containing all of the videos so far at kzbin.info/aero/PLD-4IMvJHsABjcuiOFDvwCsC0AOQR9mQD Thanks so much for taking the time to send your feedback. I wish you every success with your running and everything else it's leading you on to. You should be so proud of your achievements! Regards, Andy

Hi Peter. Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate your kind words. The first couple of weeks ease you in gently and then suddenly things start getting more serious, especially as the running starts to get longer than the walking - that's a watershed moment. Just take each run one at a time and don't overthink it - just go with the flow! You're building stamina all the time and you'll soon be clocking up run times you didn't think were possible. All the very best for the remaining weeks and thanks so much for watching. Andy.

Hi Graham. If it's any concilation, I found it hard too! Although I'm built like a stick insect and have a chicken's legs weight is by no means a measure of fitness. I was really REALLY unfit. When I started C25K, as you'll have seen from the videos, I really struggled. The thought of 5 minutes scared me half to death! Take it steadily, don't go too fast and you'll build up stamina in no time. You may not believe it now, but you will be able to run for 30 minutes in week 9. You may not make 5K (I didn't) but that will come. Stick with it! Be confident and you'll smash it! Thanks for watching and all the very best of luck! Andy.

Definitely not pathetic. I started running by running for the bus. One bus would pull up and if connecting bus was just pulling out I had 2-3 mins to run through the town to beat the bus to the stand. The first 5 or 6 times I failed but soon I started to just make the end of the queue gasping for air then the gasping became less frequent. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Hi Tarababe1000. Thanks for your kind comments. If my rambling videos help in any way then I'm very happy to hear it. You've done the hard part, starting the programme! The best advice I can offer is to just take each run one at a time and not go too fast, especially as the time gets longer. It's the time, not the distance that really matters. I've been lucky not to have any injuries, until very recently when I put my back out and so haven't been out running for a couple of weeks. I"m REALLY missing it, but hope to be out again this week some time, all being well. That wasn't anything to do with running as such, it was just one of those things! My better half took up running too but tore a muscle in her leg during week 5 so has now decided to go out cycling instead! Her injury was caused by not stretching enough post run, so I'd definitely recommend introducing that if you can. There's some advice about it in the C25K app somewhere. I hope that helps. Thanks for taking the time to send a comment and I wish you every success with the remaining weeks. You can do it!! Regards, Andy.

Hi Matthew. Glad to hear you're back on track. I'm no expert (as watching my content will confirm!!) however something I've picked up and only briefly touched on in the videos is that stretching is incredibly important. Before and after a run is ideal, but at the very least after a run. My other half took up the challenge and during week 5 she tore a muscle in her leg, likely down to not stretching after we got back. It's so easy to injure yourself so be careful out there! Good luck with week 3, you'll be great!! Cheers, Andy.

just completed the week 2, run 3. some moments are hard but it is funny that it gets easier towards the end and not harder. i also have some uphills in my forest that are almost unavoidable so i'm just thinking this will pay off in the long run, literally and figuratively speaking. for now, dreading the 3 min. runs in the week 3. i do have a question - i am running with the podcast on as the app doesnt work here in switzerland (well, my son says he could hack it but i can't be asked). the woman in the podcast says to run with hitting the heels first to the ground, not front of the feet, to avoid injuries... isn't that a big no-no nowadays?? also, her breathing suggestions are not working for me i use short inhales and longer exhales, not equal times of inhale and exhale. anyway, your vlog is motivating and entretaining. thank you!!

Thanks, Daniela. Such a beautiful country you live in. I had a wonderful holiday in Interlaken a number of years ago and then travelled down to Montreux, all by train of course. Simply stunning. Have such fond memories of it all. You're doing so well with the C25K programme - good for you! It's a tricky one with the advice in the app because if you run in an unnatural way for you, then you could cause yourself an injury. Once the shops are open you could think about getting a gait analysis at a dedicated running shoe shop as they will be able to see how you run and whether you need different footware. I cover that in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/babEi4uNYrGEjJI As for breathing, I find slowing breathing down helps, but it's not necessarily even in and out. Stick with what works for you! Hi Vanessa. Thanks so much for your kind words. I appreciate the feedback. C25K is really trying to build up stamina rather than distance, so you start off running for 60 second bursts with short walks in between and gradually, over the weeks, build towards running for 30 minutes. Yes! 30 minutes!! You really CAN do it, trust me!! When I completed week 9, I was running around 4K, but the distance really isn't the thing to be focussing on, the main goal is to be able to run for gradually longer periods of time. I wish you every success with the programme. Enjoy it. Don't be too down on yourself if you struggle at any point, that happens to all of us. Don't go too fast, pace yourself. You can do it and I know you'll be great! All the best, Andy.

what if I were to do the exercise everyday for the whole week every week? do you think that would be bad?

Hi @Tsizzle45_ It's important to have rest days, especially when you first start running. The Couch 2 5K programme is structured delibrately around 3 runs per week. You then have a complete rest day or 2 days between the runs in the week. So, for example, you could out Monday, Wednesday and Saturday giving Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday as rest days. 1 or 2 full 24 days with no running. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching. There are videos across the channel for the entire C25K journey and then on beyond that to longer distances. All the best! Andy.

Hi Sharon. It's so good to hear that you've graduated! What a sense of achievement! I don't know about you, but when I started I doubted I could run for that length of time, but C25K really does guide you through the process and help to build up stamina. I wish you every success with your running as you consolidate your excellent work. Well done you! Kind regards, Andy.

Don't worry Dan. I'm pleased to help out. As you've probably spotted, I have videos for every run in C25K and then more videos that go on beyond that to further distances and faster times. I also cover related subjects as well as talking a good deal of nonsense. It's all laid back good fun, just like my running. Good luck! Andy

Don't forget your leggings Andy! Great for compression of the muscles. Fact! Wear shorts over the top though, because nobody wants to see that, haha! Also, proper running socks and keep your toenails clipped ;)

Andy Clayton Yup. Looks cool (apparently!) and does wonders for muscle care etc. At least I sound professional, before I start my C25K this evening. Yikes!
