I am still struggling to kick up enough to get my foot to touch the wall. I do not intend to give up trying ! I can feel how much stronger I have become. Your training videos are brilliant. I enjoy the work and the journey to eventually achieve a handstand (one day). Thank you Natalie .

Thank you for your lovely words and don't give up! Check if you are rounding your shoulders, are your shoulders properly above the wrists? Are you swinging the leg hard enough, using the full push of the toes? There is a more detailed explaanation here which may help you: forum.nataliereckert.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=158

I am still doing your practices daily. I can see that the last few days in the series are beoming more difficult to accomplish. I'm having fun and I'm just going to keep at it. I've already gotten stronger and have done more than I thought possible. Thank you for the videos!

Thanks so much Natalie for the time and expertise you've put into this 30 day journey. The first time I attempted day 25, I was freezing and couldn't get my jumping leg to go up a bit higher. I took a break, watched your form and then attempted it a second time and did much better. Yay! 😀Feels rewarding.

@@NatalieReckert Thanks for writing back. You're so right. I need to keep trying and believe in myself. I recorded myself doing day 25 and I noticed that I still have very much of a backbend. Is this going to be an issue that prevents me for doing freestanding handstand? How can I begin to correct it now?

@@SolapeOsoba It does not prevent you from doing a freestanding handstand but it will make it a bit harder. If you want to continue working in the same structred way I recommend my Prepare for handstand course: vimeo.com/ondemand/prepareforhandstands

Wow, I did it. After repeating day 24 several times and my foot touched the wall once, I thought I'd try number 25 today. And today, somehow, a knot burst. I overcame the fear and was able to master the kickup much more powerfully and touch the wall several times. :)

Hi Natalie, I now can understand why you emphasize the rhythm. I sometimes do the half-hour practice for beginners, and some of the follow along with you. At first, I found it impossible to do the kick up and close at your rhythm, because I need time to think and make sure if my shoulder is above my hand, and if I have my elbow securely locked. I finish the 10*2 kick up and close every time, although it took me at least twice the time. This week, to my surprise, with the practice everyday, I build up strength and confidence, I now can keep up with you the second set. And it felt GREAT. Thank you so much. What you said is so true, a little goes a long way.

Hello Jill, Yes, that is so nice to hear. What you describe is what I experience with my students a lot and it is great that it comes across over the internet too. In some exercises it is good to really think about what your body is doing, in other exercises, like the kick ups in a rythm it is best to just do and let your body do the thinking. Because your body's kinestetic sense is better at improving movements than the thinking mind. Rhythm, repetition and regular practice create automatic movement.

Hey Natalie 😁. I kept on trying and I was finally able to get my foot to touch the wall almost two weeks ago. It was reakky exciting! I'm working on maintaining a straight leg when kicking up since I noticed I tend to bend my knee when doing the kickup and when touching the wall. I'll keep trying to improve my form. Thanks for your videos!

Thank you Natalie for your replies to my questions :-) I touched the wall with two legs during my practice yesterday and my body was weightless for a split second. I don't really know how it happened. I remember I was murmuring to myself afterwards "gosh! I made it!" I still can't stay on the wall; nor can I replicate this posture in the following hour; ha ha.... at least I know it's possible to touch the wall. I was practicing on this "swing & jump" for +15 hours now before I could get this "one click"! A slow bird is on its way :-)

How amazing that you have so much patience with yourself , that is really great! Have a good look at my kick up video here kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZjGg2Bsra-pd9k and make sure you are really rounding your back with shoulders above the wrists when you swing and jump, it makes a big difference!

Thanks so much Natalie for your advice! I can kick up now but still need to be conscious of the round back. I guess I still mainly use my shoulder strength. Every little improvement takes time and it's fun!

Hello, make sure you round your back. If that does not help, work on the swing and jump movement. This may help you too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZjGg2Bsra-pd9k

You are now at the next level :) can take time to get used to. Now your handstand practice properly starts. Repeat this session if necessary and be patient with yourself.

I think I can now do a handstand from a kick up. Instead of aiming for the wall, I aim my toes to the ceiling. My second leg follows through to meet it and I am there for 5-10 seconds consistently. Now its a matter of extending that time and pushing my shoulders up.
@NatalieReckert3 жыл бұрын
That is great, once you do it without the wall your kick-up leg needs to aim for the ceiling. Well done.

Any tips on working on a softer landing? My feet come back down with a hard THUMP and it's starting to hurt in my legs and the ball of my foot
@NatalieReckert3 жыл бұрын
1. Round the back more and more :) 2. I am guessing that your legs go up and then they come down together? Keep one foot up and scissor the other down, it will delay the descent and ón the way down round your back too to slow your body down.

This is really hard for me. I tried lots of times and only managed to touch the wall twice. Would you suggest going back a day and repeat yesterday until I can touch the wall more often?

Yes, that is what I would recommend. Also: Take a day off and come back to it. Then: Swing harder, jump harder, round your back, push into the floor!
