Gayle you do a great job of promoting Bernina machines and your videos are very informative. I don't own a Bernina or have ever sewed on one and I still watch you. I was in the market to buy one but a lot of people say the expenses of fixing one is very high. I imagine that the 475QE or the B535 machines are pretty reliable. I am looking at both of these and finding that they come with very few feet. BOTH are well over $3,000 dollars. Can you give me some insight please>

First of all, thank you for watching. And I’m sorry your are getting information that the repair of BERNINAs are expensive. Most stores, like mine, offer a first year cleaning, repairs and adjustments free for the first 1-2 years. We bill very little for any BERNINAs younger than 10 years old. BERNINAs have a 20 year warranty on mechanical parts, 5 year on electronic. There is truth that some older (antique models like the 1530, 930, legacy machines) can be pricy to repair. This is because they are long passed their warranty and parts are hard to come by. But I ask you, how many appliances that are 40 years old do you expect to repair? I really like the 480 and 570, because I must have wide stitching capability but the B 535 has the better bernina foot control and has more opportunity to expand its capabilities.

When using the couching foot (at 15.50) Do you have the bobbin thread underneath in the machine? Thanks in advance for a reply.
@BERNINAofNaperville10 ай бұрын
Yes, the machine is threaded with embroidery thread in the top and bobbin thread in the bottom. But with this technique you may want the same thread in top and bottom if you are quilting with this method.

Gayle, thank you again for a great video. What size La Espiga is used with the #43 foot? I cannot seem to find the mm size for any of their threads; pearl cotton either. Would you be willing to share? Thanks a million!

Great demo! When you use the embroidery module for couching do you thread the bobbin for embroidery or just leave as sewing (on the 880)? Thanks in advance!
@BERNINAofNaperville3 жыл бұрын
1963DebraAnn I thread for regular sewing and then increase the upper tension a bit so that it looks as good o. The underside as on the top side.

Will those fancy foot petals for embroidery fit an BERNINA favorite
@BERNINAofNaperville Жыл бұрын
We need you to be more specific because we do not understand what you mean by fancy foot petals. Do you mean foot control? If so the BERNINA favorit is a model that is over 40 years old and the technology is not compatible with the heel up/down feature with that mechanical model.
@TheBlueRose103 жыл бұрын
Those feet can use for 880? Thanks in advance

Blue Ros yes all new bernina machines take the same feet. The couching feet I demonstrated fit in the b 880 and b 880 plus.
