I was intrigued by this, though as in inspiration I've been working on drafting up an idea for something similar. I liked this setup, but I wanted something a little bigger for a bed. Something that can not only accommodate a keyboard and mouse, but also a DAC, cupholder, microphone, ect.. So I grabbed some sketching utilities and started drawing up my idea. For me, I'm a longhaul/OTR trucker and working on transforming my sleeper cabin into something more comfortable and accommodating. A lot of "off the shelf items" can work, but may not be ideal. Many things aren't designed to deal with the constant shock and vibrations of being on the road, and having a 15 litet diesel engine idling away to provide power, AC & heat. My end goal is to ditch my old laptop, and my not very ergonomic setup, and swap to a compact desktop with ergonomics kept fully in mind. I've done plenty of desktop builds before, but those were at home, in a room, on a fixed foundation. Certainly more complex figuring everything out for in my truck. Like just building the pc isn't enough, I'll need to get with a fabricator to build in supports for the GPU and CPU cooler. If they don't have adequate support to isolate them from vibrations and shock, they'll literally rattle themselves to death. Fill a drawer with silverware at home is easy, doing it in a truck is like attaching that drawer to a paint mixer. It's certainly taking a lot more planning than I had originally thought. Because I kept thinking, and the more I thought, the more problems I thought of. "Man these GPUs these days are huge, and they sag under their own weight in a static build sitting on a desk." "These dual tower CPU coolers are massive, what's all the vibration going to do to the mount and socket." "How about an AIO, but what if the shock and vibrations damage something internally, what if a fitting comes undone, or a hose rubs against somthing and wears a hole in it." "Boy this VESA TV/Monitor mount looks pretty good, but it needs more lateral support, what if i slam on the brakes and the leveraged weight of the TV snaps it off and flies across the cab..." At least I have time to plan and make decisions. I'm still waiting on Intel Arrow lake, and Nvidia RTX 5000 to release and hit the shelves before I can build the PC.

Nerdytec Cyboss has a larger surface for laptop, tablet hold and cup holder.

You ever get your set up built? In a truck I'd probably just use a steam deck and USB hub. Maybe a mini PC or itx with rubber feet glued on, and replace it when it rattles apart. I'd just have very little faith in anything not eventually rattling apart unless in a padded container which would probably stifle the airflow. Personally I just use a numpad for my games instead of an entire keyboard even if I have to rebind. Anyways ergonomics are what I'd prioritize over PC specs, especially with the space and rattling.

Thanks for the review. Would love to see a fight stick on it to see if it's a good height

I know it’s not accurate but if you sit up straight, for me it’s level with my elbows. The problem you may have is you may want to be higher than the flight stick which may be tricky.

I have one of the older models and have been using it on and off for five years. I use it mostly for laptop gaming on the couch these days, but it has been a great living room accessory for gaming. Well worth the investment as these will last a long time.

Needs a desk only version without the side pads, so that it can be used with a recliner

Great review! Just randomly thought about how nice it would be to game on a sofa with a keyboard and mouse and just happened to find this ahaha. It might just be what I needed

Did yours come with magnets? 🤔

Yeah, way too much for what is essentially two cushions and a tray. I wouldn't mind one but not for that price. Think I'll try and make my own 😅

Cool video, well expleined and really cool looking setup. That couch table (with the playstation mat on top) has a really cool design. is it available in black too? I've been tempted to get one of these couchmasters for years, the biggest thing holding me back is the price. It's more or less 200€ in my country. I don't even know where to store it when I want to get it out of the living room either, if I want a cleaner look while having guests etc. I have already 2 desktop PCs in the living room, the main rig on its own desk and the 2ndary on the "dining table". A R.Pi 400 and Steam deck and NAS under the TV, in a similar situation as you show in the video, except I don't have consoles (other than the Steam deck if we can call it console). It's probably better to have an extra mouse and keyboard always plugged in the couchmaster, so even a half an hour session from the couch is possible without remove cables from other rigs. I also looked some ideas to diy something similar, but the cushions of that form factor and size are the hard part to find. Did you try the couchmaster with any arcade stick yet? I have a 8bitdo and a myflash, I think that a long piece of wood (like a shelf) on those 2 cushions, could accomodate both in case I want to play some local coop retro game with a friend. In your case a long shelf board would be enough on top of your 2 sits couch own armrests I think, or maybe it will become too high. Did you give it a try? What's the Weather Station on the right, under the AT-AT? Do you recomend it? I've been looking for a decent one for years, Oregon scientific used to make good stuff in the past but it seems overpriced average stuff nowadays. Thankyou in advance if you'll find the time to answer to all the questions 🙂

Hi there, thanks for the comment, I'll try my best and answer it all : PS Mat : No, ive not seen one in black Better to have extra keyboard and mouse : YES! Thats what I have and it makes it much more convenient, although that does add to the price overall. Arcade stick : No, I have used one but cant see this being a problem with the lap height DIY? : I've tried and didnt work, hence the couchmaster. Had a piece of thin shelving across my small sofa, was too high, cumbersome, slippy underneath and not a 100% fit. Waste of my time and money lol Weather Station : Its actually a Divoom : kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHW9doyZnM1rja8 Its fantastic although as weather station may give more info than this does.

@@MainCave thankyou for the quick detailed answer sir. I probably didn’t explein myself good, I intended if the ”couch table” under the PS mat does exist in black, not the mat 😅. I saw your link to the Divoom, very tempting gadget. Thanks again 👍
