Wow, I came across these videos indirectly from a FB notice that you were selling your boat. These two passage videos were really intense and, I thought, very well done. The tension was palpable and your honesty came through loud and clear. It would have been nice to have gotten the "how did it end" part, but I guess life intruded. If you ever get around to putting together a final vid of this adventure, I would definitely watch it!

Alan Curtis Thanks Alan! I’m still Sailing and still documenting the travels but in a different format on Instagram.com/sailingseabbatical for people with shorter attention spans than those on KZbin 😊

That's really the only trouble with Bennies & Jenneaus they are a bugger going to windward in a bit of a blow, slaming & stopping . Iv found laying off abut 25 deg. of the true course & motor sailing one can keep up a reasonable speed 5 kts & leave it to the AP . Time on water is a great teacher , your doing well keep it up , sailorbill.

I've enjoyed watching your videos. I'm a Bay Area sailor too and getting my boat ready for some Blue Water sailing adventures. Thanks for sharing the good and the bad of the sailing life. Sounds like a real adventure

Epic recorded solo voyage. From your note on this video. Just like you, I can't think of anything worse than doing yoga in Bali. (particularly if that included the daily "ehem", flushings that Elayna did there some time back) From what I see you made the right choice going West since the storms were moving to the East. It would be interesting to learn how it turned out for the other boat that went East.

Ric Gaston I actually ran into him on the fuel dock in opus 6 months later. Apparently it was a bumpy ride but they made it juuuust in time before the worst of it!

You were very unprepared to make this passage. This is a very dangerous passage...which neither you nor your boat was prepared to make. I am glad you are alive to share the video.

COUCHSAILORS Sailing Videos I have made that same passage three times before. So I am not unqualified to render an opinion. You yourself showed continued anxiety about the passage.

Curious why you dont seem to use the Hydrovane?
@COUCHSAILORS7 жыл бұрын
Sailing Kayode good observation! The hydrovane works great in certain conditions, but in others, I tend to get a little bit more boat speed with the electronic autopilot. And 1 knot over 24hrs, 7 days adds up! I really have it there mostly as a backup and when I am not making enough power, which is rare with the wind gen while on passage.

Underprepared, undermanned and under trained,,, what could possibly go wrong? The sound needs to be pumped up too.

I have a fraind who sailed his 28ft liberty boat solo around the world. I think your video gives a good prospective on what it must be like. wow ...have you more solo trips of experience ..👍 good on u

Giles Theriault It’s that feeling of being on board and the challenges and discomfort faced that I was hoping to get across. Give your friend a LOT more credit though on his 28 footer!
