I see you're getting some flak on your Trump comments. I'm in line with your thought processes of Trump but, it's best to keep that off your channel, not so much for losing subscribers but mainly to keep your channel pure. As a fan I would say try an refrain from responding to negative comments, those that can look past the political comments might gage those responses as petty. Again, awesome episode and looking forward to the next!

Clearly this video is a long time ago but you know what? I have 100 000 solo sea miles on 3 different boats over 30 years. And i got to say having another person onboard is incredible for moral and not to mention sleep and safety. However i only have had about 10,000 miles not solo I still feel that exact feeling you felt leaving fiji on a solo passage. Its that fear of the unknown and it sort of does get better as the trip progresses. However when shits breaking or not performing and youre solo and sick and maybe a bit scared its very hard to not feel that empty bottom of a pit feeling w no way out and think why do i do this. I dont get that feeling when i have a crew. That feeling is gone and its the human factor or condition to just know you are not alone in tne moment. We are stronger with others around us. So yea i totally know exactly how you felt. It was awesome to feel that with you knowing it so well. I feel it all the time. The high of arriving solo is also huge and is what keeps me going solo . Not by choice but by circumstances. Cant wait to see the next episode . Thanks for sharing youre experiences. Giving a whole lot more to all of us in youtube land than we can ever give to you. Cheers.

It turns out Trump is actually doing a better job than I thought he would. Getting the economy rolling again, decreasing regulations, stopped the federal government paying insurance companies. Some good stuff there.
@COUCHSAILORS7 жыл бұрын
Jason Koslow thanks for sharing, but this is a sailing channel. Let’s talk sailing ;)
@Ninja_Sloth7 жыл бұрын
The economy is beginning to show signs of slowing down, same for employment and everyone in congress has taken money from the insurance companies. Take a look at the 16 month mark when most of the previous cabinet's fiscal policies will have expired, then discuss how good of a job he is doing. The ONLY reason the economy is still rolling along is because of Obama and the previous economic policies he put in place. Takes on average 12-16 months for economic policies to make an impact. Fact. I will continue to hope Trump changes his ways and begins treating all Americans equal and stops attacking everyone
@jasonkoslow41747 жыл бұрын
Clearly you are ignorant about economics. Obama heaped mountains of regulations on companies. The amount of time I spend on dealing with worthless government regulations grew by 8 times under the Obama regime. That is time I could have been spending trying to grow sales or working on better customer service. Obama presided under the only "recovery" that never hit 3% positive GDP growth coming out of a recession. His policies were a disaster. I am not a Trump accolite, but he is doing way more good stuff than Obama. From my perspective Obama appeared to go out of his way to be hostile to companies. He nearly put the coal sector out of business.

Sad that you decided to politicize your channel. We didn't vote for Trump, or any of the other candidates because none were worthy of any votes, but we really disagree with sailing channels becoming political platforms. Same as how we feel about sports forums. Fair winds, but I will unsubscribe and will no longer support you on Patreon, either.
@COUCHSAILORS7 жыл бұрын
Sail Before Sunset We appreciate your contributions as a Patreon and subscriber and are sad to see you go. We are also sad that you would consider a reaction to a historical event that occurred while on this passage "politicizing” the channel. But, since you brought up politics... the ignorance of scientific evidence that is necessary to protect our oceans and planet is something that I perceive as relevant. This has a direct effect on our lifestyles and the content of our videos. It has a direct effect on how Americans are perceived abroad. It has a direct effect on the oceans and our planet. Then there are things that aren’t relevant to this channel or sailing or the ocean but just to human decency, but if you haven’t figured that out yet with the wealth of information on the internet, I doubt I’ll convince you. Anyways, I’ll get back to promoting sustainability, responsibility, respect and pursuit of the sailing dream and hopefully you’ll change your mind and join in for the adventure.

Jasonb3d 3 seconds were about a historical event and 1762 seconds were about sailing! (Yeah, I did the math!) Politics? Do you like single helm or dual helm boats better?
@Jasonb3d7 жыл бұрын
LOL ok... I guess i'm still a little irritated with everyone’s reactions still, it's sad and angering to see all the violence when one group didn't get their way. Anyhow... Dual helm or single.... actually i'm more of a Cat man, haven't seen a dual helm cat so I'll have to go single. Do you know much about rotating masts? I'm looking at a bigger cat with one, and I really don't know what to think about it yet? It seems to be a great concept but I can't shake the worry about NO Rigging!!!! LOL What do you guys think?
@COUCHSAILORS7 жыл бұрын
Jasonb3d there’s a Crowther up in Maine owned by a grumpy old guy who won’t negotiate on the price even though it’s been on the market for 3 years. One of the appeals is the rotating mast! Sounds like a fast one based on what I hear! Basic, fast, with daggerboards and room for more crew to join in on the adventure. Just what we’re looking for!
@Jasonb3d7 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a good deal except for the grumpy old guy who won't negotiate. Also sounds like your sold on rotating masts, are they as reliable as rigged masts? any thoughts on life expectancy? I read the designers notes on the one i'm looking at, he goes into calculations for 2 digits of tons of force exerted on the decks where the mast meets bearings and decking.... scary stuff to think that it all is focused on one small part of the vessel.... but on the other hand the Cat is really a sexy beast!!
@natemcdaniel21397 жыл бұрын
Well, to be fair, with such a big time lag on posting these vids, at the time, the narrative was that the economy would collapse if trump won. Of course, that is a hard one to believe at the moment. But really, it is a big mistake to make politics on a sailing channel.

Neptune's Jester keep politics out of sailing...I wasn’t a jerk just saying if he wants to post videos for people to watch then it’s seems stupid to offend half your audience. But he can do what he wants, I unsubscribed and won’t watch. Notice how I’m not defending anyone or attacking anyone just giving an opinion.
@backthebadge40096 жыл бұрын
Alienating half your audience by going political is really unwise. We all have our political opinions but often times its best to keep it to yourself. This was really dangerous to make this passage single handed, and so unprepared. Having all those boats around you also created undo risk to you and them. Counting on others to help you is not smart. What if you had lost communications...now what? Or what if you all had to heave to in such close proximity?
@COUCHSAILORS6 жыл бұрын
Edward Walsh nobody went political, but there are unwise people in my audience that might interpret it that way 🤪 and nobody was counting on anyone else for help, they happened to be there and I was wise in accepting their help instead of being stubborn and proud. If they hadn’t have been there, I would have sailed instead of motored, I would have diverted my track, I would have heaved to, I would have figured it out.... I was also wise in going on this passage instead of sitting on my couch criticizing other people living their dreams.

Hi Charlie harrison! The act of Boycotting a sailing channel because of a 3 second reaction of shock and disappointment because we now have a president that “grabs women by the pussy” sounds like politicizing our SAILING KZbin channel to me! I thought it was just sharing one more unique moment of my passage. How many people find out about their next president 500nm from land while sailing literally on the other side of the planet? I don’t understand sure why this seems like a retaliatory punishment to us though... we post videos to share our experience and inspire others, clearly not for the money! I guess the FREE videos that take LONG HOURS of WORK (recording, editing and uploading) will be enjoyed by just a few less people? Meanwhile, we’ll carry on sailing, sharing and respecting the people we meet along the way like we always have! It’s “business” as usual for us! Hopefully you change your mind and let our videos distract you from politics.... Oh! The irony... :)

Charlie harrison Cruisers out in the wild know better than to talk politics! That’s the irony of these Trump comments, I didn’t bring it up! Anyways, surfs up at Namotu and I’m off to catch some waves! We’ll have to share more about that in a later episode :)
