I Think My Girlfriend Has Female Receptacle. Now that I think about it I’m sure she does. Thanks for reminding me Don, I think I’m gonna go check on that female receptacle right now. You’ve been a big help with this video thanks

There is a whole array of pro-grade car glass installations tools, including caulking guns and tips. Might solve your weak tip issue. You can also use glass cleaner as a lubricant to get the seal over the glass easier. Tape the perimeter of the actual glass to make cleanup easier. The weed whacker cord is a novel idea, will need to try that.

Thanks for all your videos. They are great!!. I had both windows out doing a headliner and then made an error I hope doesn't bite me. I had your video playing as I did the task. I watched several videos previously and saw some used the 3M caulk tube instead of the strip caulk in the pinch weld channel. When you strip caulked this slot it was a silent 7 seconds of your video. I missed it and caulked the wrong slot, the glass slot, before installing. So now my glass is in with no caulk in that pinch weld slot zone. I'm not willing to pull it out yet and start over yet because it took me an hour each window to get them in good. I hope the caulk applied around the seal from the outside will do it. I think I will try some mild compressed air gun to push the sealer deep. Hope it works. Appreciate the help.

Great installation video! 1. The use of weed eater string is just genius! 2. That transition to Bob Ross was fantastic. 3. Don Ross is absolutely hilarious! "The Joy of Cougars" Great work on this video!

I put tape under the edge of the windshield and after I put the caulk in it and press it down then I just pull the tape and it leaves a nice even edge.

What is a good video for trim removal for a 1969 cougar ?

I've been installing auto glass for 22 years. I'm really impressed with this install. I've always used nylon rope for rubber gasket sets. But I really like the weed eater string. Your finesse with the install was stellar.

Excellent video. The weed eater string is brilliant. Just a thought, if Vaseline keeps your fingers from sticking to the strip caulk, do you think putting Vaseline on maybe a rag and wiping the string with it to put a light film on the string would help it from sticking to the strip caulk and pulling it out of the channel during installation? I will be putting the glass back in my 68 cougar in the next few weeks and i think i will give it a go and see how it works.

I just installed my windshield last night using the vaseline coating on the weed water string. I had the seal In completely in about 30 seconds. There was barely any strip caulk on the string at all. Worked like a charm

@@twistedingeorgia1852 I just followed your advice on my 67 mustang front and rear windshield. Worked like a charm! I also put the strip caulk box in the freezer for 30 to 40 minutes prior to installing it. Helped reduce the mess.

Quick tip, keep your strip caulk in the freezer. 1000% easier to apply, doesn't stick to your fingers so much, less mess. Try it.

Would you suggest the dash pad be removed or can it be done with that still in the car?
@juniortanguma41776 ай бұрын
I'm sure it can be done without removing the dash pad, but you'd be better off removing it.

Don, I have watched this video a dozen or more times over the past 2 years in preparation for installing my windows. Well, I just got done installing the headliner and decided to install the back window using this video. It was a piece of cake. Thanks for taking the time to show us how this stuff is done. If you happen to put the weed whacker cord starting on the top instead of the bottom, like I did, it still works.

Fantastic video! I really liked how you got the camera in there to show the seal covering the inside when you pulled the trimmer line out. I would like to learn a bit more about the rope sealant - this is the only video I’ve seen that used it so far, but it looks way less messy than trying to put the caulk tube style sealant in that groove before setting the glass in place. I also liked that you emphasized taking your time and enjoying the time in the shop. Super easy to forget that for many of us, we’re doing this because it’s supposed to be fun! Will definitely be subscribing and watching this a few more times before attempting to replace the glass in my ‘65 Mustang. Thank you!
