Liberace?...really Andrew? The only way that brass, glass & mirror piece would shout Liberace is if it had 1 candelabra and at least 3 Faberge eggs on top! Hahaha, Just kidding. One of my exes had an apartment size collapsible table just like the one you presented. It was, however, solid wood from Italy and had 4 folding chairs that nested inside the center cavity. He really put that to use in a small space. Very flexible. It appeared to me that the hall tree hooks were not original based on the ghost image of different shaded wood behind them. But that piece has a LOT of potential for manipulation. I like the format of suggested project pieces peppered with real projects. Cheers Andrew.

Regarding the split seat on the hall tree, all you would need to do is put wood glue in the crack and clamp it back together for 24 hours. No need to add metal plates. The glued joint will be stronger than the wood itself.
@REISSUED8 ай бұрын
Oh interesting! I would have thought the wood would still be prone to splitting when you sit on the seat. Thanks for the tip!

My up-cycle suggestion would be for the birdcage. Remove the base (recycle it) and spray the metal bars part whatever colour you want - your oily brass spray might work well. Then you could modify it as a hanging pendant lampshade. Maybe for your entrance hallway.

You asked for input, so here goes : 1 - hall tree. I would cut off the curvy top part and use the bottom half as an extra little seat, or pot a piece of glass over the arms, creating a side table. Paint or stain as you like. 2 - glass/brass/mirror table, remove the back pieces and turn the thing into a glam bar. 3 - curvy lamp, don't waste your time 4 - the 3 compartment wire piece, line the compartments with sheet moss, and use a window box on the porch. 5 - bird cage, your ideas were on point, or remove the base and use as a pendant lamp shade, maybe even weaving macrame cording or ribbons through the wires. 6 - game board, also not worth the time probably 7 - trunk, remove the lid and use as a planter box. I had one in my early teens, and covered the whole thing with my stamp collection. It looked cool, but I was also young, haha. 8 - the pendant light, I have seen these painted red (or color of choice) lamp shades replaced with small Terra cotta flower pots and used as an outdoor hanging planter from a tree. It looked awesome ! 9 - old sewing machine base, my mom used a similar base topped with a piece of marble as her kitchen island....always loved that. 10 - xray flower pic, for you Andrew, I could see you incorporating it into a collage. 11 - collapsable table. Your ideas were on point. I would have gotten it, just to have if the price was right, and find a use for it later, just because. Haha. So, Sir, there ya go.

I have the same size table, but from Ikea, with the drawers in the middle of it. I use it for my painting studio, and I never put the leaves back down anymore. I suspect a number of people would wind up with it either open or only take it out for occasional use. The x-ray flowers thing...I could see it in the right space, but it reminds me of the 1980s a little bit too much. I'd expect to see it with filament flowers surrounding it, lol.
@REISSUED8 ай бұрын
Very interesting points! It would be hard to leave that much space for a table and have it down most of the time… I’ve thought about something like this for dinner parties in my entry… once it’s all cleared out 😅 And yeah I definitely get the 80s vibe in the flowers!

The standing Victorian lamp on the right almost out of sight would have been a good vintage choice. Those are usually still functioning or can be easily rewired. I took apart one socket on one like that and it was porcelain and easy to fix. The center uses a large bulb format but Amazon and lighting stores had the mogul converter for about $6-7. Great lamp! The ones I found like that were about $25 and worth it; mine were 3 way lamps and worked with 4-5 LED low wattage bulbs.

This was more interesting than I thought it would be. You have a good eye, and I agree completely about copying the drop-leaf table-a really useful and versatile piece. (Might I suggest Lowe’s/Home Depot unfinished project panels for the top?) I despair of something cool ever being done with old sewing machine stands/cabinets-the wood ones are intractably clunky, and the wrought iron kind are too hippie-dippie, imho. I could see you altering the large picture somehow; by itself, it’s a hard pass for me.

Some nice choices and some questionable ones here! I feel that anything made with crappy materials should be ignored-though yes, you could use it as a template if you want to build your own with good materials. My preference is to ignore anything mirrored that belongs to the 80s, or anything made of mirrors, like coffee tables etc. Mirrored things are too fragile to work with. I also just don’t like that aesthetic, whether it’s glam or something else. That said, I like this video and am always curious about your ideas for reworking stuff!

very small, possibly trivial detail, but for this style of video i think it would be better if you were sitting down, maybe by that large center desk. just sitting by a large desk gives an academic tone. feel free to ignore this completely if it sounds lame lol i like that x-ray flower but it's for a very specific room, that almost stark, gaudy but minimalist mansion with all white walls and glam decor from 10 years ago. and this video idea is so cool! i'm such a newbie at thrift flipping that it's hard to see potential in items still. My suggestion would be to do one piece at a time and sell it online……I like you a lot I’ll continue to watch you, but you talk so quickly, your arms and your eyes dirt around everywhere with enthusiasm I know … I appreciate your enthusiasm ….but to me to me, that’s just radio……. If you are going to do “a to do “ then do it…. merchandise it… and show us the end project….. feels lazy…. If KZbin is going to be your income, then it’s going to take a ton of time and effort…… I know you have a whole other life out there as a performance artist, and a home to finish. …..the projects you show us are huge and complicated …. perhaps simplify simplify them if you’re doing it for KZbin.. … this video is just too much too many pieces way too much talking. And the some of pictures of the items are poor quality…… OK you asked for my opinion there it is……. I don’t mean to offend you. I actually love what you’re doing to your home……
