Thank you for continuing to create videos and amaze us. I've watched many KZbin videos about space, but you’ve managed to find facts and perspectives I haven't heard before. Everything here is top-notch-from the content to your calm and soothing voice, and the way you dive deeper and more complex into the topic in an easy-to-understand way without oversimplifying it. This balance is hard to achieve, but you are a master. Your videos are truly a highlight of my day/week, and I listen to them every night, until the algorithm switches to The Infographics Show about the CIA while I sleep, and then I wake up and play one of your videos again. Thank you for everything you do.❤

It’s been proven many times that J1407b is NOT a planet with rings. It’s a failed star (brown dwarf) with a protoplanetary disk
@theo6741
@theo6741 2 ай бұрын
As far as I’m aware, it’s classed as a sub-brown dwarf (planetary-mass brown dwarf), which are also referred to as rogue planets. To be fair, the definition of what exactly a planet is does seem to get kind of hazy around the margins, but nonetheless it seems to be a planet in some fashion or other, just not necessarily a bound planet.

Additionally, the idea of TRES 2B being "pitch black" wouldn't be true on fly-by as this video suggests, as the large amount of light hitting the planet's surface would more than make up for the planet's dark surface.

This is true of course but the occurrence and intensity of ignorance is not, now, for some reason, worse than it was in, say, 1900, 1840 or even 1980... quite the contrary, I would say. Rather, the problem is that the imbeciles have a place to tell us they exist and they seem especially keen in making us aware of their dumbass incompetence. You can rest assured your average peasant in late 19thy century Germany knew orders of magnitude less about the world, even as a relative percentage of what was knowable.

It's a damn shame how so many anti-science trolls and peddlers of conspiracy theories, pseudoscience, and misinformation have been allowed to propagate nonsense. There are definitely alternatives to the KZbin-based science communicators and members of the "scientific establishment." In spite of that realization, junk science is *NOT* an alternative to well-established fields of academic science. The same is true regarding pseudoscientific claims and theories (e.g., flat-earth theory and the Electric Universe) presented as undisputed fact and the scientific consensus reached by experts.
