I think the big disadvantage Luigi has is that he's an expert in ghosts. Zombies are not ghosts, they are physical beings. It's just massively different in practice. I wouldn't want a zombie expert to deal with ghosts, either!

Being another person who noticed the similarities between RE1 and Luigi's Mansion, I was pleasantly surprised to see that someone has tackled this scenario. Here are a couple other sets of thoughts I would add below... Another set of enemies to bring up are the small fry critters, namely the adder snakes, mutated crows, enlarged wasps, and baby Web Spinners. Besides ghosts, Luigi's Poltergust 3000 could vacuum up small solid objects too, like the various sheets and blankets on the furniture or various objects thrown by ghosts. Given that, I imagine Luigi could just vacuum those enemies up, just as easily as he could those ghost mice/bats/fish in the first Luigi's Mansion game. This could make for some funny imagery and help give him an easier time, in places like the crow puzzle room. Given that the Arklay Mansion has its own share of pools, fountains, and even refrigerators (like in the basement kitchen), I would also like to imagine Luigi using the water and ice medallions' power. Ice has been weaponized in Resident Evil before, such as the freeze grenade rounds in RE3: Nemesis and RE5, plus the liquid nitrogen employed against Verdugo in RE4 and various enemies in RE6. Luigi's ice blasts could especially be another countermeasure against Hunters, depending on whether the Arklay Mansions' Hunter Alphas behave more like Outbreaks' Hunter R's (which got stuck in suspended animation at colder temperatures) or the Hunter variants in Revelations (which were still active in the snowy mountains). The ice might even enable Luigi to solidify that one pool in the courtyard and not even need the crank. Though, I don't know many instances in which the liquid water could come in handy. A part of me would like to see how the Tyrant would react, Luigi just started spraying a hose of plain liquid water at his face.

I think you should have mentioned the elemental medals in the list of Luigi's abilities. LM1 is the only game not available on Switch, so anyone who hasn't played it will have no idea why the vacuum can shoot fire, which it never does in the second and third games. Plus, there's situations where being able to spray out water and ice would be helpful. Fire blocking the way in the RCPD? No need to hunt down the water main, just look for a sink, drinking fountain, or water cooler and suck up the water spirit. Monster that is weakened by ice? Find a freezer, grab an ice spirit, and chill it out. Not as effective as a stronger source, but it'll give you some breathing room.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Gooigi ever touches Luigi himself because he's stored inside the poltergust. Whenever he is summoned or unsummoned, he just comes out/goes back inside of it, no touching Luigi himself involved. And if Gooigi does get viruses and gunk inside him, I bet you E gadd has some way of cleaning Gooigi of unwanted dust and such, so it could still work!

2:50 No, Wesker absolutely doesn't want to kill everyone. His primary objective is to use his elite team to test the combat ability of the bio organic weapons and use the data to improve them. If his team dies early, it would be a catastrophic failure. It's the same idea as testing conventional weapons before selling them. Just the fact that he has access to fire sprites is OP in the context of RE1. Another bonus: Gooigi could effectively disable Yawn. In LM3, there is the boss fight wit hthe very real Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton. Luigi defeats it by Having Gooigi get close, at which point the Rex tries to eat Gooigi, only for Gooigi to promptly act like the world's most sticky taffy this world has ever seen, effectively gluing the Rex's jaws shut. As for the Spider, Luigi fights one in LM2 and he uses fire to burn all the webs and disable said spider.

2:50 because at this point Wesker is not the super human we typically see him as at this point in the series for starters. He wouldn't be able to comfortably dispatch every single enemy by himself and navigate the Mansion with as much ease as he is able to in the game. He needs the remaining team members to stay alive just long enough to help him solve the puzzles at a more rapid rate and provide easy in and out access to areas he would have to waste more crucial time solving or unlocking himself. And my favorite is I belive he is cold and calculating enough to think of the possibility that if he doesn't seem like he's still assuming the role of supportive leader some of the team could still possibly survive on their own and his entire disguise would be compromised way too early. When I play RE 1 and I'm shooting enemies or solving puzzles I like to think there's always Wesker slinking around a corner somewhere waiting for the audio cues he needs to go to the next step of his master plan...

Wesker doesn't let the team die straight out the gate because, 1: he hasn't gotten clear of the kill zone yet. They're his decoys against the strays in the woods. 2: He needs combat data on his experiments to determine their effectiveness, hence his team of skilled officers.

(biological weapons) inside the mansion to gather test data, as you can read in a note when you go to the lightswitch room to grab another gem from a hawk, in the 1996 version i remember. wesker's plot was basically to use the S.T.A.R.S. team as live test subjects since wesker worked for umbrealla at that time
