The great pioneering scientific work Donald Hoffman is doing right now may one day give rise to the mathematics and "proofs" necessary to convince materialists of the truth that Rupert is explaining here and which is so obvious to those who practice self-inquiry. I encourage anyone to check out his stuff!

The irony: the materialist adopts a belief that puts oneself outside the possibility of knowing oneself (including oneself) as one with "matter" in consciousness! What an self-imposed exile!

And an entirely ABSURD dead end street to logic & science ITSELF....because by WHAT MEANS then the Materialist would EVER be able to know ANYTHING ? Including science or that s/he actually even EXISTS ? INSTANTLY Logic reveals by NO MEANS. So the one that cannot know anything tries to know something, lol. Excellent explanation of a difficult to grasp concept. I would like to add that part of the reason we usually don't think that the "real" world is a product of consciousness is because we rely heavily on our physical senses.

In the 80's there was a 16 year old girl, Susan, that she could talk to matter and animals and all kinds of beings. She could talk to a chair, or a table even with a toilet paper. The first time I listen to her was really strange for me, but I believe what she was saying because she said that everything is Consciousness. A lot a people laughed at her. She even took down some videos of her talking to things. Then as she grew up she stop doing these videos. Now she makes videos but they are only about coaching stuff.

Of course it is upside down! I wake up and build up the slide from the back side with calculus, here I am at the top and I slide down. The insight or awakening is the shape of that slide revealed by the movement, the shape is true. I wake up again from seeing the difference and comparing, and then the calculus to justify this again begins. Work then play. Eros like a buffer, those little steps up the slope leaving a space. On universal scale too, with perhaps the Planck curve the buffer between the quantum calculus and our moving realization. Two paces of moving to a higher entropy state, but the movement so efficient it all arrives at almost the same moment. Consciousness everywhere! edit: Forgot to say thank you, I must be 'slipping' .

Let's imagine the table is consciousness. Then current physics and physical law as the relations between things and energy is still applicable. So whether you call a quark conciousness or material: the science is the same. Materialistic science is still true It's just the question if you want to be able to understand and explain the human inner experience as observer with the structure we are made of, or not. And we are not sure even if we can, so until that is settled this position can still be held. Psychologically it is still always an interesting position, and can be helpful for some. However the fact I can operate surgery on your brain and influence your experience, doesn't look good for this position

Can a thought view you, Question you, examine you. When I was a kid I was active sleepwalking dreamer, The majority of that experience was me finding myself along for the ride experiencing things that I was not consciously thinking of or making up but rather viewing and experiencing things that I would’ve never thought up. Psychologist said the only you can control your dreams, So I went with that and attempted to eliminate the experience as a kid mind you. While I was somewhat successful I was not entirely successful and controlling what happened when I close my eyes and fell sleep. Later I began to consider it a form of possession. My grandfather was dreaming that a bear was after him while sleeping, He proceeded to try and escape and broke his neck. He survived, question is was the bear hey figment of his imagination or an intruder. Your work fascinates me when it’s opening my eye a little. I had considered myself and still do a Christian, but the deeper I dig the more I find the discrepancies and the lies of those that came before. Just wanted to say thank you for offering a little peace of mind that I could search out myself with a little instruction. Sometimes that’s all you want

I’m still not quite there. Why should i imagine a thought and a table are made out of the same thing? I get it thoughts are in consciousness, made of consciousness but not themselves conscious, ok. But thoughts and tables have nothing in common aside from not being conscious. Tables aren’t made of concepts, I can’t set my drink on a concept. And I can’t drink an idea. Thoughts and matter are fundamentally different yet he seems to be arguing they’re more alike that different.

May be matter is true may be consciousness is true ...may be both are true or may be something else is true which is unknowable .....why magic of life can be taken as is as it comes in what ever way ...take it as it comes as matter ...take it as it comes of consciousness......don't model everything and be in a hurry to stanp it done or discovered for ever ....

I do not see any reason for the assumption that a table should not be conscious. The same arguments used for the table could be used for a human. We see a human, it is in our c, it is made by c, but it is not c, being a contradiction to the premise that a human is c. According to many spiritual traditions everything not only has c, but is c. I like the phrase "not the body has c, but c has a body".

I fully agree with Rupert here but I would have liked to see him directly address an obvious counter argument that would have arisen as he was discussing whether or not 'the table' is conscious. Okay, the table appears in consciousness, is made of consciousness but is not 'itself' conscious. Now, turn to one of the people in attendance and ask the same question. How do we get around the conventional view that 'this person' is him/herself conscious? I think a possible approach is to distinguish between the appearance of 'a being' and the *experience* of being--but I would have loved to hear how Rupert would respond.

Every thought is productive, alive and gets manifested, even though we dont see the result of it. Sorry but I disagree totally. Why do you still need physical evidence to perceive something real or conscious? If it came out of consciousness of man, like the table, it became materialized. If one didnt visualize and decide how some table will look like, it would never become such as it is, even though it seems "still". What are our bodies made of? Also matter. You need a leap.

@Simply Myself Absolute brilliance! They say, whey look for God here and it slips, and they look at the other side and slips again. No matter how hard they try. It's existing and non-existing at the same time. It's alive and dead at the same time. It's beyond the material, logical, rational, conscious level. It's above dualism of our material world and outdated thinking and beliefs. It simply is. And always was. And always will be. And they say it doesnt exist because they cant prove it black on white. Have anyone of them ever been in love? Did they see love? They didn't. But they all know what love is. And they all believe love exists. And what does the story say? God is love! Come on peeps...How come you've been sleeping so long? Welcome back.❤

@Simply Myself And a more scientific reply: Take consciousness as an etheric field, or more accurately in my opinion; the field where etheric field gets manifested and expands, evolves. Have you ever realized how plants grow and turn in the direction of sunshine? How nature supplies all needs for all needed species? How we changed through history? There's some great intelligence involved in anyone and everything. There is something behind all of everything. But when we observe it; is it destructive, is it evil, is it selfish? It is always reacting in the best possible way for progression, evolution, growth, advancement. So why interfere? Why be us so sure it's our superior intelligence's ideas and plans and rational ideas so superior, contributing, necessary? If possibly they aren't, consciousness will wipe them away and all of those who propose them in an instant *they begin to interfere with the consciousness' own evolution path. Edit after *
@anzefilipic7682

@Simply Myself don't take this so personally. It's us who get offended, because of our offenses towards "it" or "thee". Speaking from my personal experiences, I got beaten down to ground over and over again a thousand times, still am at those present days. Because of what I was saying. Still making the same mistakes.Wishing aligning and feeling it asap for myself first and ofc. for everyone else... /EDIT: And yes, ofcourse it is and always was/will. But in order for us to stay on top, we need to unfold with it. Or wish we wipeout? :) But it's an interesting situation because I honestly see and sense and feel that what used to be the main narrative or "wave" 10 years ago, is a downside up situation today. Can we get along? Or will we stick to the outdated egoic paradigm and watch ourselves disappear? Also, what do you mean by hard? Is a thunderstorm hard on trees when they crumble and tear and die? That's nature of life. Nothing is good or bad, everything is as our minds perceive it. And when the whole woods collapse, the spring flowers blossom few weeks after it :). What a beautiful sight that is.
@anzefilipic7682
@anzefilipic7682 2 жыл бұрын
@Simply Myself I feel genuinely sorry if you can't perceive me as I am, because I am like that. And I love it. The problem in my view is that I dont comply with Your way of how I should be. And that is your problem. Isnt it wonderful how different we are? Can't you find beauty in this? And I was trying to harden your outlook. I am hard. But I am hard in the name of progress and change, and I don't get your point of softishness, which all dark hardcore players make fun of. So is it so productive? Let's leave it in the air.

@Simply Myself Also, I have to add: If everyone of us would be "our true self" as Maharshi intended to communicate to us with his quotes, there would be no conflicts, no profit seekings, no crime for money, because in such state, everything is simply flowing perfectly and harmoniously in our experience. But honestly, does humanity seem deserving of "perfect" ouflook? There's enough fruits rotting in the tropics to feed all humanity. Think about it. Still sending much love and peace. Love this debate.

Thank you, Rupert! It makes a lot of sense to me, but if I perceive you, Rupert, are you too an object in Consciousness for me? And when you perceive me, am I also an object in Consciousness for you too? So, we are both subjects and objects in Consciousness? When I say "for me" and "for you", do I mean finite minds or One Consciousness? Or all this just a dream or imagination in the mind of Brahman?

I wish he would compose a simple impossible-to-misunderstand abstract of what he is attempting to say in his faux-Socratic endeavors. Tiring.

@6:20 Rupert Spira uses an assumption that dreams happpen and/or are created in our own minds. I think that dreams can be build from an external source, and that external source can be conscious or not.

This the the worst misunderstanding I've ever seen. Obviously, neuronal functioning of the brain gives rise to consciousness. To say that just because we experience everything within consciousness, means that consciousness is everything, everywhere, universal, infinite, singular, or what have you, is the wrong conclusion. This is spiritual talk, dressed as "science", but is not scientific at all. e.g. Show me an experiment that shows consciousness (awareness, sensing, thinking, feeling) in a chair. You can't. Therefore, that hypothesis is incorrect.

I now know the material world (so called), has no power over me. I could have a nuclear bomb fall on me and I would still be safe. In fact I ( my consciousness) would remain untouched , perfect. That is the power of understanding that the only reality is consciousness ( also called spirit, soul, life, God). And consciousness is not subject to time or space. It is eternal. We are eternal✌️

I question the table being a single inanimate object. We just perceive it as such as an abstraction, it is just an image of what the table is to us, it is not the real table. There are other animals, like termites and bacteria living inside the table, for their limited consciousness the table could be their whole world and not a distinct object.

We witness reality but interpret it in our own (conditioned) way. Acknowledge the filter(ego) as (largely)fiction and see directly.

This is the reason why St. Peter wanted his murderers to crucify him upside down. It was his message for us how we perceive this world . Find more in this interesting free internet book The Present by Michael Smith. The book reveals the most accurate description of life and death.

But isn’t “infinite consciousness” the same kind of logical leap that the materialists are accused of making?
