Ah, but the number of deaths measured by exposures, or time exposed, to sharks and vending machines wasn't determined. I would feel, and likely be, much safer around a vending machine than a shark, especially since I don't try to move the vending machine which is what leads to the desths.

I can't stand those little yappers. Mostly because people don't treat or discipline them like a dog. If by unlucky chance I had one & it acted aggressive, especially to kids, I'd treat it the same as a big dog. I'd probably be more careful putting it on it's side due to size and fragility but it would be there. My wheaten terrier growled once at me over a real meat bone. Once & only once. He didn't get that bone again & never growled at me again. I wouldn't mind having a nice tiny dog though. Already full grown, non aggressive and non yapping. Unless they are warning me for something.

I swam in rivers where piranhas live, when you're in the water they don't come even close normally. And if you throw meat, it's not like they will eat it like mad dogs. Not long ago, people in Brazil used to know the "truth" about this fish, that normally and almost everywhere they are as dangerous as any other fish, so not. But the movies + the easy access to sensationalist online media, created a state of magnified stupidity in many locals, that they now believe in histories of deaths and attacks.(never confirmed).

Americans encounter way more vending machines than sharks in their daily lives so those stats do not mean they are less dangerous. I learned the hard way while I was cleaning and he bit me on the back of the arm, it was so clean a bite I didn't even feel it, I just noticed blood in water. Needed 6 stitches. My cat got bit couple years later on the back of his R-Leg, it took 10 stitches. +Quillo Manar: You're hitting the nail right on the head. ;-) We're interested more in the education side of edutainment, but need something to draw the watchers in and keep them interested while we teach all sorts of related things. :-) It's how we make our content somewhat unique and not just like a bagillion other places out there that just give the "No" answer with a filler paragraph or two that says mostly nothing. I'd also personally not be interested in working on the "No" answer style content. It doesn't add anything and is mostly just copying what someone else has done in that case, and because of the shallow research those places often do, that style is also prone to inaccuracy. Obviously our ultra-detailed style is not for everyone, but at least some people seem to enjoy it. :-)

there is a joke in Venezuela. Guy comes across a bunch of young ladies swimming in the buff in a river. They shout 'go away! Go away!' He just smiles and says, "Don't worry about me, ladies. I'm just here to feed the piranha."

Small point: The bullet T. Roosevelt was shot with also went through his steel eyeglass case, his 50-page speech folded double (so 100 pages), and a think coat, as both the speech and the eyeglass case were stuffed inside the breast pocket of his coat. The bullet did not go through *just* his "ample chest muscle." However, it was still pretty manly how he continued on to give the speech after being shot, leaving the stage only after finishing the speech.

So, then, 'piranha attacks' are more likely to be foul play disposal, rather than tragic events?
@evernewb20736 жыл бұрын
erm, not even that, they make for a great tourist attraction just like the pre-prepared example in the video and the media in (almost) every culture absolutely loves reinforcing things like that so they are happy to report stories as fact, pass on false reports like the scavenging-as-hunting examples, and pounce on the very few examples of a piranha attack actually happening (usually to livestock). ironically enough this is the first time I've seen something in one of this guy's videos that's readily false: the catfish that buries it'self in an animal's urethra is a real thing, the only part that is a myth is that they swim up the stream when you are peeing, they will seek out urine but you need to actually be inside the water...frankly catfish in general are pretty horrifying if you want to look up some critters that are often actually WORSE than the myths about them. there are also a few species of them that don't seem to stop growing or die of old age now that we are studying them more properly, which makes some of the old stories and drawings of man eating catfish in lakes and rivers in europe from back before we saturated the areas with hunting sound a lot more plausible, the only confirmed one still going on today is man-eating catfish in the ganges (people send bodies down the river as a burial method, fish eat them, some catfish are big enough to do it whole, on VERY rare occasions the fish have grabbed living people by mistake)

Depends on the Piranah species,. as there is quite a large group of species of piranhas,in the serrasalminae family,.Traditionally, Catoprion, Pristobrycon, Pygocentrus, Pygopristis, and Serrasalmus are considered to be true piranhas .The most common one sold in petstores around the world, the pygocentrus nattereri is one of the species that actually hunt their prey in quite large schools,. these fish are normaly youngsters,and pre adults. when they are mature they tend to become more territorial and tends to fare in pairs, than in large groups. during mating season in some cases the males and females tend to group together in larger mating groups, and the males fight amongst eachother to get a mate, after that they disperse out in pairs again,lay theyr eggs and guard theyr eggs and offspring.The redbellied piranha,is a very skittish fish, and is not a fish that would normaly attack humans or any other large prey, it also looses its red belly coloration after it reaches adulthood, and turns more silvery brown and yellow in color. Another close relative to the redbellied piranha, the Pygocentrus Caribe, black spot piranha is another story, the fish looks quite similar to the redbellied piranah , but keeps its colorful red belly, is more silvery on the sides, and darker shaded back than the redbelly piranha, this species is almost always found in large schools, and is usually staying in large groups, before and after egglaying, they are highly terrotorial and the locals fear this fish way more, than the more docile and skittish redbellied piranha. the P caribe is described more often to bite swimmers, and therefore locals dont swim in waters where this species are found. P caribe,is rarely found in the petrade worldwide,due to its agrressive behaviour. There is also other Piranha species that are considered more dangerous than the redbellies, due to size and wounds it would inflict if it bites you, the black piranha. this species is not found in schools, and is a rouge species, that only travels in pairs during mating. The other Piranha species, are rarely sold in the petrade as these fish is not social fish or a fish, most would be recomended to have in a fishtank, due to extreme high aggresion, size, price or specialiation on feeding. one exeption is in the catoprion genus, these are scale and fin eaters, are quite small in size. Red bellied Pacus, wich is mostly herbivores in diet( omnivore)(fruitpiranhas), but tends to grow into quite the size, but is mostly a friendly giant if keept right and have enough diverse food, and space. Silverdollars belong also in this family, and these contains also mostly smaller, herbivore/omnivore species, but some can grow in size and eat smaller fish if given the chance. In the Pygocentrus genus :There are currently four recognized species : Pygocentrus cariba (black spot piranha)Pygocentrus nattereri (red piranha, red-bellied piranha)Pygocentrus palometa Pygocentrus piraya,(the Black Piranha /San Francisco piranha).
