Chovy and Peyz are for sure going to continue with GenG as long as they can. Chovy has stated before that he was really touched with how Gen treated him and really appreciated the org. Also he's been very vocal about only wanting to play the best league and doesn't care as much about monetary values. It's clear since he's been rejecting multi-million offers since 2020. Also he has donated to GenG Academy to help develop the next generation of gamers. So its not a stretch to say that he's found home in GenG. Peyz on the other hand was born and raised on GenG and with each other they have found success mostly. If everything continues to align then after Ruler and Chovy, Peyz will be the face of the org. For rest of GenG, Canyon has always said that for him the most important thing is to win and set records. For now it very much seems like he's doing great in GenG, we can only wait to see what future holds. Kiin recently said in an interview that winning worlds is the ultimate goal and besides the title it would also mean that they would get to continue the current roaster. So I'd say that he's happy with the roster and would want to continue further with it. For Lehends I'm not sure but he'd probably follow Kiin around. /s Basically being in GenG seems to be a very good option for these players but the main disadvantage would be lesser salary than what they'd be offered by other orgs individually.

It really depends tbh.. last year GenG let Chovy's contract expire and only resigned Peyz, which everyone expected.. that's why it was a huge surprise that GenG managed to re-sign Chovy.. so this year, win or not, it will be pretty difficult to keep Chovy unless GenG spends more or cuts the salaries of others..

Money aside, I think Chovy has finally found his place in GENG, the same way GENG found their player in Chovy (and Ruler previously). As it stands right now, we have the following: -T1 and Faker -Damwon and Showmaker -GENG and Chovy -G2 and Caps There's probably others, like EDG and Clearlove for example, but much less highlighted. I think these players are so tunneled into creating a legacy with their orgs that it feels almost impossible to leave now after all the success they have had together.

Caedrel is correct that T1 does carry a different atmosphere because of their history but in the current moment I think that everyone in the LCK understands that Chovy is the best player. We already know Canyon and Kiin but took paycuts to play with Chovy and if they win World's this year then I suspect that this entire roster might have more ambitions for their legacy and I think they will run it back again whatever it takes. Been a Canyon fan for years and I have never seen that man happier than his time on GenG currently. Who knew Canyon talks and jokes around that much.

Canyon stated back on early Damwon he wanted to be recognised as the player that would beat SKT, he never wants to join them. Canyons contract is also running out because he compromised on his salary to be paired with Chovy. He literally chose less money for higher chance to win. Canyon and Chovy will be paired together for sure, maybe Kiin/Zeus, Canyon + Chovy, Viper + Keria with Mata as coach is a possible roster. That’s the picture I’m looking at.

Theres just no world where gen.g takes viper over peyz. Not if you want names like chovy/canyon/kiin as well. Gen.g already had canyon/kiin take paycuts to join. Gen.g is also never the highest bidder for a player. Viper costs far more than peyz does and they would see no need to replace peyz in his current form. Peyz is far greater value for money even if viper might be a better adc (and I think even this can be argued).

Contrary to what many people think, Chovy actually didn't change teams much because he wanted to. Griffin messed up as an org, so team was disbanded. DRX org was not much better, so the whole roster left. Chovy only left HLE out of his own volition, but it was either go to a different team (Gen.G) or retire. Chovy isn't really in it for the money (he already earns a lot), he already has military exemption, and has a greater desire for winning than money. Gen.G has been doing a good job building a strong team centered around Chovy, so I think he would stay. I think it would be similar for the rest of the Gen.G squad right now (Kiin getting his first domestic title, Canyon achieving career grand slam, Peyz is from a rich family so salary isn't a huge factor therefore he is literally playing professionally as a dream/goal, and Lehends came BACK to Gen.G because he wanted to win).

The unfortunate thing is that though t1 canyon could be cool and perhaps great. To fully bring out the potential of canyon, you need constant mid prio to allow him to fully dominate and make plays. The sad truth is that it is unlikely for faker to be that dominant mid anymore, as I truly don’t know if he can recapture what he was doing last split where he looked like he was peaking again. Furthermore. If canyon wants to win, there is no sane reason why he wouldn’t stay in GENG, where he can continue playing with chovy who compliments his playstyle and can enable him. Ngl if Oner leaves. I think cuzz returning to t1 could be great, as he is an amazing complimentary piece to what t1 already has. Tbh t1 does not need fire power. They need consistent pieces that can play a wide variety of champions and playstyle. One of T1’s biggest flaws is inconsistency and lacking a second pillar alongside Guma to help the team when they are in a slump. So finding that second pillar, whether it be in the top or jungle a complimentary peice would be great.

Oner is such a fan of the org I think the only way he goes is if T1 kicks him. If they don't sign Canyon (which I believe is really far fetched per your reasons) I don't think there's anyone else to take his place. Peanut and Cuzz will probably not join as they have experienced what it's like to play for T1 and I'm not sure if they would like that kind of fan pressure again.

@@poside that is the grim truth about this t1 roster unfortunately. Faker is degrading and it is completely uncertain if he finds a bounce back. Zeus is completely meta reliant as he is just way less effective as a tank. Oner, and Keria can be inconsistent at times, and with the latter having the bad habit of just disappearing at times when needed. I think Guma has the potential to be the main carry of t1 but that remains to be seen. Overall. T1 relies too much in the meta being in their favor. Furthermore faker is actually the key to t1 regaining their fire again, as if he finds that bounce back season and if he cleans up the macro mistakes (let’s be completely honest, even if it’s keria’s calls faker has the final say and he should know better than to do the stupid things that they continue to do right now) t1 will look completely different. (Btw bonus side thought, Lowk faker can easily roleswap to jungle and get a strong midlane, as I think him becoming more focused on the map and less on the lane could serve him well.)

Imo 2023 was the peak of ZOFGK roster and with teams like HLE, GENG and many from the LPL getting better and better I don't see much light at the end of the tunnel. No shame in roleswapping, I loved it when players like Ambition and Xiaohu (and Rekkles) did it and gave their careers an extra lease on life. I would prefer him swapping to top myself, have been pretty impressed by some of his tank play. Special shout out to that one tournament he randomly was cracked on mid Ksante

We are not sure what happens with Lehends and military, but if Lehends doesn't go to military, I'm confident he and Kiin resign. No way Chovy is leaving either. Why would he? If they are successful, I don't see why they would want to disband. Peyz is still on his rookie contract and surely he will ask for more money, but I'm sure he respects GENG as an org a lot to maybe not ask for too much. After all, he is still very young, still has a lot of years to make a lot of money, but right now, he respects his teammates and his team. If Canyon and Kiin could take a big paycut to join GENG, I'm sure he is a decent enough guy to do the same. The main point is, I don't see why these players would wanna leave GENG right now. They are all making good money, despite taking the pay cut, they are in a great mood, great working environment and are extremely successful. The idea that everyone wants to be on SKT / T1 was definitely true until 2019. Maybe even until 2021. Most popular team, probably best paying contracts and off-rift potential. Ever since DWG won Worlds and stomped domestic, I think this started to change. And for sure it's not the case anymore after GENG has completely been stomping the LCK for 3 years in a row now. I don't think a player like Canyon has anything to gain by leaving GENG and going to T1. He doesn't need the T1 stamp. He is already the GOAT jungler and what he is looking to do in his career is play for a team who's primary goal is to win Worlds and will invest heavily into it. As it stands right now, going to a team with Faker in the mid lane is definitely not the team you want to go for that reason. Like it or not, Faker is not even in top 3 mids in the LCK right now, not top 5 in Worlds, and that's even generous. There is no way Canyon will ever win anything with this playstyle by playing with Faker. He took a big paycut just to join GENG, a team that invested heavily into winning, a team with the best player in the world in the mid lane.

this sentiment is likely the way canyon's gonna go, but something worth considering - Canyon played with someone with faker's playstyle by starting with Showmaker. SM had a very similar style to faker through 21/22. Canyon was still the shining star of the team. And not to mention, when this meta shifts, and it will, Chovy will lose the prio he constantly has - people love to ignore that the current meta is 99% of why chovy has so much prio, it's ad's and he's always been great at them. Faker is in a slump, but is that meaning he's at his worst? no, and he'll bounce back too, track record proving it. But Canyon going to a team where he has less prio isn't gonna be the dealbreaker, it's weather he'd have the higher chance of winning. And tbh him going over to a team against chovy can do that too, because canyon is a massive part of their success this year.

Funniest thing is that the most important players T1 needs to try and keep are the two players most likely to leave in Zeus and Oner. There isn’t a player that can fill Zeus shoes in top lane unless his name is Kiin. Maybe T1 can pick up perfect if KT swaps him for Zeus or if they’re desperate look for TheShy. Let’s go with the reasonable odds that Canyon having no reason to leave GenG. who can T1 get that would be as good as Oner. Faker has literally one bad Split and everyone calls its done for him. They literally reached since 2022 1st place Spring, 2nd MSI , 2nd Summer, 2nd Worlds 2022, 2nd Spring 2023, 3rd MSI 2023 2nd Summer 2023, 1st Worlds, 2nd Spring 2024, 3rd MSI 2024, Won EWC and the rest is unknown for this year. If I had to analyse LCK mercato top 4 for next season - Geng must continue to build his brand with Chovy face of the team and Peyz the rookie trained by the club for the others it will depend on Worlds and money (it's crazy to think that Geng / Samsung has developed Deft, Imp, Peyz and Ruler) - T1 is the hardest : if Faker stays, they should make another rookie project and keep Keria, who has the most experience and is surely the most profitable for the brand after Faker. If Faker leaves, I think they will have to create a superteam with Scout Canyon and keep the others. - HLE, I think the team is good, they should try to take Zeus or Kiin, or try Keria if T1 doesn't want him any more. And try to find the face of the team - DK should try to take Lehends or Peanut because I always hear that shotcall is the problem with this team but if Showmaker doesn't get back to his level the team won't be able to progress (and I don't think that for the brand they can replace Showmaker especially 1 year after losing Canyon).

@@castel7421 In my opinion, when you put Faker with superstar players who have a very good sense of the game (but different from his own), it doesn't work, peanut and Mata, for example that experienced massive underperformance with Faker. Today, Faker's sense of the game is his main strength, so it's better to put him with very good mechanical players (rookies) where there will be few other visions of the game than his own.

Him saying getting an offer from T1 is like getting an offer from Ferrarri, its not. Its really not. It might have been in the past but its not for a lot of top players now. Its been talked about publicly by some players that playing for T1 brings massive pressure and expectation due to their legacy and their huge fanbase and that fanbase is extremely harsh on them when they fail. That is something that is considered by players and it was the case in other games too with certain teams. Not saying its reason enough to decline but it aint some golden ticket to the chocolate factory that you might think.

I am willing to bet all Gen G players are gone after this year you don't sign 1 year contracts if you plan on keeping people long term maybe Chovy stays? I have an inkling feeling that either faker retires, or lane swaps his brain for the game is way to valuable for him not to play but the variance of his play is think is way too inconsistent at this point. If I was T1 I would role swap faker top and give Chovy a blank check. And try to get Kanavi. I think you just try to rebuild Team korea from the Asian Games but with Guma on Ad and Faker top. I love ZFOGK roster so much but man there is something going on with these set of players that makes them so damn inconsistent. I also think they need another shot caller because if faker is micro managing everything like we saw kn summer of 2023 i think its too much and they need someone else to unload some of that burden. These players are going to want more money especially after this year the cost to keep them will be extremely astronomically high they are all gone except maybe chovy but if someone like T1 or HLE offers him a blank check I am almost sure he will not stay unless they spend a lot for them the only couple of rich orgs that are stable at all to spend high are most of the LPL teams and T1, HLE, and KT and maybe NS.

Aftet this if they want money ofc they will all go out of GenG, with how the LCK salary cap works there's no way GenG is able to sign them all again unless they taking another paycut.
