Man. Have we fallen on hard times again. Back to the penny pinching padres. We had a good run. The bogarts deal was a killer

The Bogearts deal was the worst contract ever. I'd rather spend $765mil on Soto. At least that way you are hamstringing your team for years to come with a player who is actually good. It will never make sense why they even wanted to sign any SS when they already had 2 good SS on the roster and their #1 prospect was also a SS.

I think you gotta spend up to the 237M CBT at least! Why would u be stingy after that great season last year! Not a good look being a cheap owner and always dealing good players; very RaysEsque. I would say do not trade him at all, even if you get Roki, for great pitcher depth. But trading him for Arenado at 1B… maybeeee… but still learning towards keeping him.

He isn’t the type of GM who would be dealing for a first baseman or a left fielder

@ ur thinking prospects huh? I guess that Coby Mayo from Orioles does look good. If they could get that catcher too that’d be lit

Maybe because we want Roki on the major league roster. I do believe he’s gonna cost around 6 million. we’re maybe 1 million under the tax threshold. management that has been rumor to say under no circumstance we’re going to pay the tax. Let’s say we can sign Roki and get four high-level prospects for Cease is a win

@@LilCasinoMusic because he likes shortstop players playing first base and/or left field

Kutspenda knows there is only one game in town. He knows the fans will keep showing up even though he keeps cutting payroll. Greupner said last year he grateful for the stars already signed. That’s what we’re paying 60% more in prices for.

Cease had two CONSECUTIVE bad starts against LA, when we REALLY needed him to NOT have bad outings against LA. It shocked me how tense and 'off' he looked in those starts. But when the season was done and we were out, I calmed down and still thought he should be brought back. My thought process then, was focused on how we are going to need arms, more arms and arms on top of arms, to keep up with LA next season, in light of LA having a handful of really solid guys coming off the IL in '25. I still think we need Cease...but not enough that we keep him and cant fill holes elsewhere. My belief is, Preller can find a close enough comparison to Cease, somewhere on another team, who is going to ben controllable and cheap. Id also being back Perez..who has said several times, he wants to come back.

Why is all the talk about pitching when in 3 games we couldn’t score a run or even get a it in 20+ innings. WHY ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT HITTING??????

Great question!

Why King not Cease? We all know why so don’t sell it like Cease is worth a lot because if he was, the team would keep him like they are keeping King. The Pads need starting pitching… Seidler and Preller’s fiscal irresponsibility brought the team to this point and now Preller has to pay the piper.
@RossCipriano24 күн бұрын
If they dont get Roki then they should just keep him and reassess next offseason. If they do get Roki then they should trade Cease. They probably cant get what they need for next season just off that one trade but they could do like they did to get Cease last year and make a series of trades to work up to a starting LF (if Profar is not back) and pitching depth. Preller is an idiot for the Bogaerts trade but I trust him to work magic with these types of trades.

I disagree I think cease needs to get traded regardless. With King and Cease being free agents after next season I don't think you can risk losing both pitchers for nothing

@@xxxx-e9o Thats a good point. And I think King is the one we really need want to lock up long term.

Let’s be realistic for a minute if the Padres are crying about money now and salary cap just wait this Padres team will get way worse with the backloaded contracts of Tatis, Machado and Bogearts. It will absolutely insure less spending for the padres. So unless these rich pricks open up their wallets like ownership in LA these Padres will never be competitive. Cry about small market this and small market that Padres blaming the loss of TV revenue but it has been 2 years since then and what have the Padres done to try and fix that and go out and get a TV deal? The Padres are now in back pedal mode from what Peter was trying to do. Peter wanted to spend the money and win for San Diego these rich pricks in control now dont! Every year is lower payroll stay under the cap. These new owners will undo everything Peter did and the Padres in 2-3 years will be back to same lousy team they were.
