In this video, we go over Hunter x Hunter 's Phantom Troupe vs King of the Chimera Ants, Meruem. We also go over Adult Gon, Godspeed Killua, Netero, and Meruem's Royal Guard, Neferpitou (Pitou), Youpi, and Shiapouf compared VS eachother as well in terms of strength, speed, and intelligence.

I've seen some people comment about Kite and his scaling so I'll answer some questions and stuff here most of them don't actually really effect anything in the video but I'll clarify: For Kite's near death ability, it should be important that it's supposed to stop him from dying, reincarnation is a post death ability. Now while I do think it's heavily implied it causes him to reincarnate, I still think that it being a "good spin" and causing Pitou to genuinely think he's a good fight implies more than that, and amplified his ability. Remember, Knuckle, who is scared of Pitou and gets bullied to oblivion by Youpi, is stated to physically equal to Kite, and Kite is never once ever implied to be near Pitou's level. Even Killua doesn't even bring Kite up to scare Netero, despite knowing Kite's ability, he brings up Hisoka and Illumi, which further implies an amp to me, even Ging only theorizes what Kite's ability does, it's never confirmed so of course I'm not going to claim I 100% know either. I'm not saying it's OBJECTIVELY true, and in fact, Kite isn't important really AT ALL for scaling the Troupe. This is the same for me saying he bodied leader and officer ants, which didn't have nen. Once again, the Troupe vs the Ants is moreso class scaling, then actually relying on Kite for anything. Even looking back I could've removed Kite from the entire video and nothing would change. And even if you want to absolutely say that Kite didn't get any amp from Pre-Death, then he'd have simply gotten an amp from getting a good spin. I've also heard an argument that Hisoka is stronger after dying. And while post mortem nen is stronger, there is no proof Hisoka has permanent post mortem nen, if anything his bungee gum had post mortem nen which he used to revive himself. (Reviving implying he's not dead) Only his bungee gum that restarted his heart is confirmed to be stronger. Also people are commenting on the arm wrestling and nen, saying the nen is not involved in the arm wrestling... Which I also said in this video and confirmed was absolutely the case even in combat scaling. I don't see why people are complaining about that. And this video is under the premise that they're in a confrontation with Meruem, not that they couldn't somehow find a way to nuke him or something.. Obviously a rose would beat him, but that's not the point of the video the video is talking about combat scaling. Also I'm aware Kalluto is a boy, and that Pitou is an It, when I wrote the script I try to imagine the characters and just pictured a female and usually give them their usual gender identity, kind of like what Killua does with Alluka but without the absolute confirmation they want it that way, which I probably shouldn't do. My bad. I even called Pitou a girl one time despite calling it an it like 10 other times in the video (it can also be referred to as he if you're mainly manga but I use it to be indifferent), it's a common error I make when writing. "Youpi couldn't instantly defeat Knuckle or Shoot" Youpi wasn't at his full potential and didn't understand how to use Nen until the very end, and it's implied he can evolve further beyond that. Pitou doesn't have the same weaknesses in talent, and was pretty much fully evolved from the get-go. Youpi being 10x stronger and it being stated "It is impossible for Shoot to beat Youpi" even without Nen abilities or any strategy does in fact confirm what I'm saying, it is not an anti-feat against me. Youpi is also specifically stated to be non strategic and wasn't even going all vs Shoot with it being confirmed he was absolutely going to win even without nen abilities or strategy (Volume 26, Page 16, Page 39) "If you use the stat books Komugi can beat Zushi!!" No, the stat books only have Komugi with higher total stats than Zushi, but these stats include things like Talent, Intelligence, Willpower and so on, which she used purely for board games. Zushi and Komugi are both just stated to be bottom tiers in terms of strength and combat ability but with Zushi actually having nen ability whereas Komugi has virtually 0. Total stats =|= stronger in the HxH databooks. "The series tries to convey fights through Randomness!" We've seen plenty of fights and have plenty of information on straight up 1v1 fights in HxH without "randomness." And I hardly can recall any reason why anything I said in the video is something that can be somehow narrative randomized in a VS vacuum, especially when I'm using pretty objective statements about their scaling like "The most formiddable character they've ever seen!" "It was impossible for him to win!" -Narrator "This character blitzes people relative to this character!", "He can one shot people stronger than this character, therefore-" etc. Bizarre and irrelevant argument. All in all I think most criticisms of the video are over minor details and not my main argumentation, but even then I'm finding a lot of these "criticisms" a little off balance and don't really make a lot of sense. I think my only real screw up was with calling Kalluto a girl and not giving numeorus prophylactic counters for some of these casual VS thoughts in the comments, but the video was 32 minutes as was when I recorded it and was cut down. Didn't want to make a 1 hour long video countering every conceivable idea people could come up with, like "what if they just run away and grab a nuke and nuke meruem in this VS Battle and power scaling setting!!!" like, c'mon.. "Morel was only at 35% and Pouf didn't dominate him" Pouf psychologically manhandled Morel then took his pipe and threw it in a river with zero effort. Also, in HxH, Aura is not like Ki in Dragon Ball where your power decreases hyper linearly as your energy does. For example, Knuckle Explains that if you have 10,000 Aura and you punch, maybe you use 80 Aura per punch, and your ultimate move uses like 1,000 through 2,000. It's more like a gas tank, not a power level, although, it allows you to put more gas into your attacks if you use that much aura if that makes sense. So unless Morel has an attack that uses over 35% of his total aura in one attack, which not even Gon's enhancer attack that amps his punch by 10x necessarily does, there's no reason to suspect that this 35% capacity is some serious nerf. Especially if they only fought for an instant and all that happened was Pouf bullied him and flew away to find Pitou and Meruem.

SethTheProgrammer bro honestly you’re right kite’s scaling truly doesn’t matter in terms of this video but then there are people who want kite’s scaling to be as accurate as possible but then again I also want you to make a video scaling JUST kite but that’s because his strength is weird in cases as he is able to make the captain-level ants shit themselves but he gets slapped by Poitou. Which I think happened due to kite’s inability to raise his strength in time for the absolute unit that is Poitou like when Goku got shot and hurt by a bullet to get to the point I think kite is on par with Poitou in ability (may be pure head canon but decent guess) but he was slapping with a number four roll and barely beating a captain with a six so I believe kite’s full power is on par or at least comparable to Poitou 🔴however I am not caught up to the manga🔴

Sometimes the way characters use their nen abilities is what makes them dangerous. Otherwise, Gotoh's nen ability, which according to him was *firing coins with more power than bullets* should've defeated Hisoka, whose nen ability is *gum* . And Meruem wasn't a god. Gods don't die to poison and don't get beat in a board game. In episode 135 Meruem himself said that he isn't a god.

Even with OP abilities like the ones feitan, phinks, and chrollo have, it still wouldn't be enough, especially if it's after meruem absorbed power from youpi and pouf. Chrollo's ability alone would be too risky since he obviously wouldn't be able to steal anything from meruem and I don't think he has any abilities that are strong enough to do damage to the king. Love the troupe, but I don't think anything is stronger than the ants other than whatever's in the dark continent Edit: the troupe are smart and good at planning things, but like ace said above, it's useless against someone that can one-shot you in seconds lol.

you said it pefectly. Meruem was conceived as someone who wasn't supposed to be even on the scaling. The scale doesn't apply to him, because he is even far above the scale itself. That was done due to the story that Togashi wanted to tell. The evil Meruem, who kinda went through a abridged version of a hero's journey. With him being more powerful than anyone in the series, he didn't have to struggle physically, but his emotions got triggered when he met Komugi. This weak blind girl, who he could've obliterated out of existence without her even noticing. But she beat him in that game over and over again, which is what he needed and finally he found someone who is his peer and that is what made him become more human. So he needed to be that strong for this storyline to work as well as it did. The contrast to Gon's descent into madness is also a masterclass if this manga / anime. I love Meruem as a character and Gon's character development as well.

Its funny that his pride led him to find happiness, he couldn't accept losing to what he thought was a worthless person. So he kept her alive until he can win because if he kind her out of frustration he would've forever been a loser at gungi. But in doing so, playing against her, he found greater joy in facing an opponent who can truly challenge him, and learn to appreciate that strength comes in many forms, he forms respect and admiration for her, later turning into love. His journey is really well written, because even tho he did some terrible things, and was still planning to assert his will over others, creating a society based on meritocracy by force, we still sort of root for him to be happy.

If Hisoka is waiting for Gon to become stronger, then he must be confident enough that when they fight in the future, at the very least it wouldn't be an easy victory for either one of them. Do you honestly believe that Hisoka is waiting for Gon to train and grow more just to get easily killed by him? It would be very anticlimactic, especially considering Hisoka vs Gon is one of the most anticipated fights in the series, and Gon winning with ease wouldn't live up to the expectations. Besides, Hisoka himself has plenty of potential - he can grow and get stronger. So if and when they fight each other, Hisoka may be stronger compared to the current Hisoka.

Kite was missing an arm, yet was still able to fight Pitou, and make it enjoyable enough for her to want to bring him back to life to fight him again. We don't even know whether the nen ability he rolled against Pitou was made for fighting, since Ging mentions later in the series that there's a nen ability Kite rolls to not die in a dangerous situation(if it's something like a reincarnation nen ability, then it isn't for fighting). Pitou's injuries after fighting Kite weren't shown to be as prominent in the anime as they were in the manga at the end of chapter 199, in which she was shown to have multiple cuts. Right before the start of the invasion Morel said that his own physical and mental conditions were 35 out of 100, yet he still survived against Pouf 1 vs 1, while being inside of the smoke and after deactivating it. Pouf even said that Morel had a chance of killing him, if he searched for Pouf inside of the cocoon, instead of deactivating his smoke(chapter 286). Youpi almost lost his nen to Knuckle's nen ability. The narrator said that he was minutes, if not seconds, away from losing his nen. And Youpi never fought all of his opponents during the invasion at once. Most of the time he fought from 1 to 3 characters(counting Meleoron) at the same time. Shoot was able to keep up with Youpi 1 vs 1 for a while. And in the chapter 106 of the hxh manga, the narrator said that every member of the Phantom Troupe has at least one nen ability that the other members don't know about. Also, Kurapika created 5 different nen abilities during the 6 months he was learning nen. The Phantom Troupe members have all known nen for much longer than 6 months, so there's a chance we haven't seen all of their nen abilities. Chrollo has a book full of nen abilities.

While I think Pitou could probably body the Phantom Troupe, the Troupe could be like Netero and use Human-made things to kill Pitou instead. Actually, if the Poor Man's Rose could kill Meruem... If the Phantom Troupe can set a few of those off, they might be able to kill the Ants.

@@flickersense Your reasons do not apply to a fight with the Phantom Troupe. Nobody was able to damage Youpi, and while Knuckles ability is trouble, no one in the Troupe has that ability. And Pouf had no interest in fighting Morel at that point, so there is nothing to get from that fight. The weaker Spiders would get killed immediately by Pitou and Youpi. Thats Shal, Kortoupi, Shizuku, Paku, and Bono, all dead. The only one that could possibly damage Youpi is Feitan, maybe. And his injuries would have to be great enough that he cant really fight after using his nen ability. I dont think it would kill Youpi, but Phinks could finish him off afterwards if he was charging during Feitan's fight. That takes care of 1 ant. Pouf is a tricky match-up, none of the enhancers can really do anything. So Uvo, Nobunaga, are kinda useless. I dont see how Machi and Franklin can beat Pouf either. That means that you HAVE to use Chrollo against him, with Franklin as an assist. 2 ants down. That leaves Nobunaga, Uvo, and Machi versus Pitou. This one is interesting. With the right strategy the Spiders could win, this is assuming that Nobu can react to Pitou's attacks if she enters his En. Otherwise they are gonna get killed. Machi is the most vulnerable, so Nobu and Uvo have to hold Pitou's attention so she doesnt blitz Machi. Then Machi can use her threads during the fight to suprise and impair Pitou's movement enough for Uvo and Nobu to deal lethal damage in the brief opportunity. Given the feats and portrayal of the Royal Guard, I think its easier to assume that Feitan cannot deal enough damage to Youpi. And that Nobunaga cannot react to Pitou. And if thats the case then the entire fight crumbles and the ants win. But the Troupe has a fair chance, the match-up is close to even. The wildcard is ofcourse Chrollo, if he finds a way to deal with Pouf quickly, then he can assist in other fights and then it snowballs in the Troupe's favor.

Meruem is literally immune to physical dmg. Even Netero needed millions of blows to make him feel something similar to pain. Meruem on the other hand just had to touch him to rip one of his legs out and after that flower nuke he became even stronger. Meruem was on a whole different powerscaling than the other hunters. There were just a handfull of characters who could pose a problem for his pre nuke form.

To predict his movements, react, defend and use abilities to counter all at the same time is close to impossible to Troupe members. Not to mention King was insane durability so any attack that hits him somehow is likely to have no effect.

I don't know what gives people the idea of no characters being able to react to or to move as fast as Godspeed Killua, considering that *even before transforming into a motorbike, his butler(Tsubone) was able to follow Godspeed Killua on her own in the forest* . Also: 1. The first time Killua hit Youpi with his lightning, it was a surprise attack, since Killua was invisible with Meleoron and Youpi was focused on Knuckle. But getting hit by that lightning might have affected Youpi's reaction speed which in turn affected his ability to react to Godspeed Killua later. 2. Knuckle was able to dodge countless of Youpi's attacks, and Shoot even kept up with Youpi in a 1 vs 1 fight, by dodging Youpi's attacks and even landing one attack of his own on one of Youpi's eyes. If Knuckle and Shoot were able to do that, then who's to say that some other characters aren't able to move fast enough for Youpi to not be able to react to them.

The main thing i love about Hunter x Hunter is it's unique powerscaling as it follows the logic of real fighting sports where styles make fights. Let's take for example a group of 26 fighters arranged in alphabetical order according to strength wherein Fighter A will be stronger than Fighter B and B stronger than C and so on. Fighter A might have the strongest aura and best fighting ability but Fighter M might have an ability suited to fight him and will own him in a 1v1 fight. Thats another thing i love about HxH, true counters exist. Heck even the location plays a big role in the fights (see Chrollo vs Hisoka). I forget what chapter it was or if it was even HxH but one character even said that condition on the day of a fight matters too. As in fighter A who might be at 85 percent condition on Monday can be smacked to the ground by Fighter D if he was at 97% that day Given the right conditions, Chrollo with possibly a unique ability that counters or negates the difference in aura between him and Meruem might have a chance to beat him.

meruem easily is the strongest character in hxh so far. he managed to clap netero, who 1) is the strongest nen user alive 2) has the most battle experience out of all humans and 3) is 110 years old. whereas meruem 11) hadn't even unlocked nen yet 2) was only 2 months old or something and 3) has 0 battle experience. even after netero used his strongest attack, meruem had minor injuries and was still standing. whereas netero had lost 2 limbs and was all skin and bones, on the verge of death. if meruem had more experience and trained more and had a weapon, he would ez clap w/o dying. also, netero had to rely on a bomb, something that aint even his power. this is a clear explanation as to who won.

Singular character yes? Strongest threat no. All the ants and Mereum combined don't even make the top 5 regarding the most dangerous things from the dark continent. Styles make fights. Meruem is essentially a dbz character in hunterXhunter. With that said, there's a number of different nen users who appeared so far that have the ability to defeat the king ant. Beating him with brute force like Netero won't work. He can be outsmarted as Komugi demonstrated over and over. He's also not immune from "disease/virus/radiation" type abilities. Pretty much anything on the biological level cannot be countered.

Yea, in scenarios where teamwork is actually capable of exploiting some weakness and often because someone with convenient powers exists in that particular arc. Without Knuckle or Meleoren, Youpi would have killed everyone once they stormed the palace. The sheer magnitude of difference between Squadron leaders ( one of Whom was Bullying Feitan and would have killed him if she didn’t stop to look at pain packer) and Royal Guards is massive. The gap between the guards and Meruem is also massive. The Phantom Troupe as Togashi chose to portray them is simply not a threat to the Royal Guards, much less Meruem, regardless of teamwork. Illumi himself referenced Pitou as being a nigh unstoppable monster who made him look like trash in retrospect.

If Knuckle and Meleoron didn't exist, then before attacking the palace, the invasion team would have just come up with a different plan to deal with Youpi. 2. Not only was Feitan rusty when fighting Zazan, but Zazan made a restriction by tearing off her tail(which was her way of creating soldiers) and by changing her appearance(which she cared about) in order to gain a lot of raw strength. We've seen what restrictions can do in this show. In the end, Feitan still killed Zazan with a sun that cost him only a broken arm and some injured organs. So no, Zazan wasn't bullying Feitan. 3. Saying that Zazan would have killed Feitan if she didn't stop to look at the pain packer is a baseless assumption. 4. Togashi has never portrayed the Phantom Troupe as "not a threat" to the Royal Guards. 5. Illumi has never said that "Pitou was an unstoppable monster who made him look like trash in retrospect." So again, baseless claims.

In this case though, unless each of them is above Royal Guard level, then possibly. But it was made clear with the Netero fight that only a point blank rose bomb is capable of damaging him. Within the series, the bomb is the ultimate destructive weapon. You may survive the blast (as did Mereum) but you'll still die from the chemical effects. And if Feitan is dead, I highly doubt that his skill include post-mortem activation.

@@chad63 Malicious aura represents the character/their feeling towards whoever is sensing their aura. Both Hisoka and Illumi have scared Killua with their auras, which is why he mentioned them. Meanwhile, Komugi and the other people who Meruem played board games with were inside of Pitou's EN for days and days, yet were never even bothered by her aura.

I find it funny that with all of his abilities, stolen powers, experience and versatility. That Hisoka can match and even challenge Chrollo with just a single simple basic ability. Some stretchy gum. Sort of a much better version of protagonists vs villains like Bleach. Where Ichigo's main attack is basically just an energy projectile and the enemy's creative utility ability just loses against Ichigo's simple power up.

This is why Power Scaling doesn't work in HxH, he's physically weak, could maybe at best be able to dodge one attack, but his powers aren't suited for one on one combat, in fact it isn't even combat it's infiltration and chaos. This is the type of thing Morel was referring to when it came to Nen battles, this is why some fights simply can't be classified, you could be weaker than your opponent in every conceivable way, to the point that they in a one on one should always win, yet you have an ability that may control someone, that may be equal to bridge the gap in intelligence and ability. A much better combatant would be Finks who isn't limited by aura usage and can simply just prepare an attack from ten days ago if he wanted to, and in that case him hitting is far more important. Oh and yeah, Shalnark might not be able to 100% confirm a hit on his own, but considering someone like Chrollo using a nen-ability that might allow a clearer shot changes the entire game. Don't forget that Chrollo can straight up equal both the head of the Zoldyck house as well as its previous head at the same time, discerning their abilities and mental state, while also determining what is best in that scenario. Combine that level of thinking and analysis add on the very unique abilities of all Troupe Members and then consider that they are most likely hidden from the Chimera Ants, in fact the main issue is reaching them or picking them off, which even the original extermination force with Killua, Morel, Knov, Netero, Zeno, Gon, Meleoron, Knuckle, and Shoot had difficulty doing. So all those support and infiltration abilities might seem unimportant working in unison is what makes the Troupe balanced and effective, it is the ability to outsmart and outplay your opponent that matters most, even when you look at the Gon example you see that the reason for his expertise is his ability to outplay his opponents. Two captain rank chimera ants attacking him with great levels of cooperation still couldn't beat him, not just because his Ten and Ken was so highly advanced and that his Aura was enough to mitigate the damage caused, but also because he was clever enough to anticipate their attacks and use a more varied move-set in order to corner them. Nen fights are almost always determined by whether the user knows what they're doing and if their overall ability counters their opponent. The reason why Netero ranks Ging so highly is because he's such a versatile and genius fighter, in which he can copy another's ability, decipher it, and apply it, there are so many things you can take away from the system as a whole that makes power-scaling utterly useless.

HXH is way different from other anime in how its power scaling works, as it allows for a stronger emphasis on tactical play. Meruem is almost an exception, though. His sheer durability, speed, power, and intelligence is just so ridiculous that a lot of tactical plays just don't work on him and it comes down to sheer power. Though I'm an anime only so

God's accomplice + Scream is either an instant kill or they're instantly transported into Knov's Nen dimension. From that point, they just wait until the Ants have starved to death or dehydrate. Another possibility is someone like Kurapika making a specific Nen constraint for the Ant King or the Royal Guards--since that constraint is so specific, the ability would be enhanced immensely. A similar ability to Knuckle's Hakoware or even just Hakoware would've been effective if they were able to buy a little more time. Anything is possible in this perfect power system.
