We had a child come in to work today that was non verbal at work today, and was steming with loud noises. There were a lot of customers and coworkers complaing and I had to be his voice and let them know what was going on. Your videos have been so educational and I am so appreciative of your knowledge. Thank you Asa, Cilla and most of all Abbie for your education.

So great to hear people stand up for those who don't have their voice! Thank you on behalf of the kiddo. My girls are verbal but my middle one is a shouter, she loves to make extreme noises. We've had people have a go so many times meaning we have left places halfway through dinner etc. We have 2 on the spectrum and a baby so we're a loud family! :)

I love the idea about getting children access to iPads quicker! That is a main reason why I have changed careers and am going back to be a SLP and eventually wanted to do my own non-profit and do the same thing. The sooner we can get nonverbal kiddos or adults access to communication the more options and less frustration they will have. Everyone should have the means to communicate.

I like the T shirt idea...and I have seen re-sellers get really excited about finding "single thread" old T-shirts to sell. I know Abbie would be great at washing, drying and folding the shirts. She would need help in picking them out...but I'm sure she can make her preferences known. Since you have the "hook-ups" with people in the know, I would imagine this would be a nice little business,....especially if it benefits communication equip for kids...and if it has Abbie's stamp of approval. She could make video's about how she uses her I-Pad to accompany each device!...I was also thinking about something centering around her love of swinging. ...... Not all kids have the same "stims", I know, but wouldn't it be cool to have a set up with a pillow, radio, and water bottle holder for those days when you just have to swing!!

I have mixed emotions about the iPad thing. The idea itself is fine but if Abbie is working she should get the pay in my opinion. How about maybe using a portion from the channels proceeds? I do like the idea of helping others be able to communicate but when she puts in the work she should get the reward = payment. Not being nasty or hurtful in any way. I just saw individuals be used by having their money being used for stuff other than their own wants or needs to the point of borderline abuse. Not saying that's the case here tho.

@amyrobles4780

@@Lolibob151 I know that he said that but if that is going to be Abbies little side hustle and she does the work , spends her money to buy the clothing, pay for items pack them and mail them she isn't going to make thousands of dollars an item. Realistically a shirt from goodwill after washing it might get 20.00 online. So she worked by shopping, paying out of pocket, then work by cleaning and folding then pay for shipping. Doesn't leave much overhead for a paycheck then the communication device project. Honestly, if there are employees that have disabilities working at selfie world than part of the entrance fee could possibly even be donated to that project. Bitty and Beau coffee hires individuals with disabilities, they have opened several locations. Perhaps they can get in touch with them and maybe run ideas by them because they have experience in these things.

But I do love the life skills envved. Maybe with something she can make independently. I thinj I’ve seen her threading beads before. Could she do this to make fun jewelry? Neckalce/bracelet. Then she could go out to shop for the materials. So picking them out and paying. Can thread the beads herself and package them to be shipped.

Like the two sisters and the mustard seed jewelry how there is personal connection to the product and meaning behind it. I don't know about reselling clothes. I think that would be better for Priscilla. Abbie is all about two things as far as I can tell: cookies and music - and maybe swimming or water stuff for a close #3. I'd look into those areas as a potential vocational activity - sorry I can't think of her having a "job." Now regarding the iPad as a communication device I really feel like there was a missed opportunity with that software company that created the speech app you were using. I know you had issues with it being expensive because of insurance but I think you should set up a charity or something that can appropriate that for people with stingy insurance - or no insurance at all.

It frequently gets to 105*+ here in the summer (hottest this year I think was 110-115*), but we don’t usually get down quite far enough to really freeze over winter. I wonder if it is more of your lower winter temps that keep you from being able to grow bird of paradise plants, if it is the higher frequency of days over summer that you get the blazing temperatures, maybe the different altitudes or even different humidity?. It would be interesting to know what exactly causes them to grow in one location and not grow in another location that are only an hour or two drive away from each other.

Abby really enjoyed shopping at the craft store when you took her out to help you design one of the Selfie world rooms...remember that? I mean she lit up, she was smiling, isn't that shopping too? Or Abby's ornaments she packages up every year? That's a business. What about Abby and Cillia's make up sales? Doesn't Abby get some sort of commission for helping with those sales when she is on her mom's sites? Then there is this...Abby's show, people love her. Abby it turns out, has several jobs.

I could be wrong but I think selfie world was created as a source of income her Abbie and/or ways to pay for caregivers later in life. Which is different than Abbie working. I think of it like a trust or inheritance. It was also created to give jobs to members of the community.

I'd say that's a really cool idea, I actually used to volunteer for an organisation that would take in computers that were being switched out for newer ones from schools and companies, completely refurbish them and give them a new clean install and then hand them out to people (mainly "kids" in their teens and 20's) who could not afford one, but still needed one for things like aplying for jobs per e-mail and such
