He was completely wrong about the aspect of the investment. Accessibility is going to be the next big thing for Websites & marketing. Especially for the attention disorders - there are many users who are diagnosed with ASD / ADHD and the number is growing every year.

You'd think it would click that selling a plug-in to a tiny website and a gigantic website both for £30 wasn't a good business model.

Exactly , shows how bartlett isn't the tech entrepreneur genius he thinks he is. In order for it to really work you need the businesses on board so their business logic for the company is right it's just limiting.

This should be a chrome extension rather than a plug-in - I would be happy to deploy my development team to assist in building this out to a far wider audience if required and would subsidise the cost associated

2 million valuation for a plugin? And one that's already available for free. They crazy, don't trust ex-bankers! By the way, I'm a web developer. Lots of companies already design websites with accessibility in mind. However, to make the majority of websites accessible, I think we need regulations and behavioral changes at (webdevelopment) companies. Not more plugins for users.

Fellow web dev. While many of us adhere to WCAG, most still do not. It isn't a concern for most people that aren't developing for large companies concerend with legal risks. For most, it makes sense to install a server-side plugin like accessiBe, UserWay, EqualWeb, or similar. Which honesly offer way more accessibility tools than merely following WCAG and using Aria labels.

that is not how the gates foundation works , they call it philantrophy when it is actualy them making money , they ''donate'' to companies they own shares in , i.e vaccine companies call it philantrophy when in reality they donate to them selfs and when they donate their share value increaes making them profit so just like putting money in a bank with farrrr better instant returns it iis not through goodness of their hearts , or when bill gates got divorced for flying with jeffry epstein on his island diddling kids

Their business model would provide a tiny website with the plug-in for £30 a month, and also give it to Tesco or ebay or Google for the same price? What a wasted income opportunity. Peter was right, give the plug-in for free in exchange for a percentage on sales made using it.

I'd be interested in the technical details and how it is better than existing web accessibility tools like screen readers. They mentioned adding a label "shopping cart" to a site that isn't already accessible - how is this done? Can Assist Me improve inaccessible sites? Or is there a baseline required? It feels like this is more a combination of existing tools?

Deborah doesn't have 'first-hand experience' of being disabled on the internet. She, by definition, has second-hand experience. Carers and family of disabled people need to understand that they don't know what it's like to be disabled any more than we know what it's like to be a carer. Ableds can have empathy but pretending to understand something that you simply never could (unless you become disabled) is not the helpful allyship many think it is.

I don't get it, if it's a browser extension (plugin) then it's client based anyway.
@haydenryan168
@haydenryan168 5 ай бұрын
it's not a browser plugin, it's a website plugin (overlay) - but tonnes of these exist already. and if a company was going to spend $35-$45 a month on this, they'd be much better off investing the money to make their website properly accessible in the first place (so that, for example, screen readers can navigate the website properly). this doesn't really fix anything

Can someone explain to me why the narrator's voice is quieter than the rest of the show in all the Dragons' Den videos? Can't they hire a proper technician?
@JonasHamill
@JonasHamill 5 ай бұрын
This came out during lockdown meaning everything was done with people working from home. That means when the narrator recorded things, he wouldn't have had a tech there to check levels, when it was edited, it would've been done in the editors own home rather than with the fancy equipment available in the bbc editing room etc
@wecreatezone8940
@wecreatezone8940 5 ай бұрын
@@JonasHamill You can fix that on any editing software, let alone a kind they have access to even from home. I can do that without any training. Tthough I doubt that it was the editor who stayed at home among the rest of the crew...

Imagen when technology comes so far that you can't claim to be disabled.
@heler87
@heler87 5 ай бұрын
that is literally the goal of the 'social model of disability'. we are not disabled by conditions or injuries, but by environments that deny us access. for example, I cannot enter a public building because it has 3 stairs that could easily be a ramp; what is disabling me there is the presence stairs, not the wheelchair that allows me to move independently or the condition that means I can't climb stairs. it's being handed a a bar of metal by a doctor that says you need more iron. It isn't your fault for being unable to absorb a chunk of metal; it is that the doctor has given you the wrong tools. If you have time, definitely read into it more
